lol I can't help but laugh. Eccles is Saved points out it's not the only title lost; Francis has similarly lost some of his other titles: * Boss-man of the Catholic Church; * Mr Infallible; * Grandmaster of the art of Papa-Slappa; * The Big Cheese; * Holiest Man in the World; * Bouncer Bergoglio (from his days in Argentina); * The Fat Controller; * Mr Sunshine; * Big Frank; * Mother Nature's Favourite Son; * Humblest Man in the Vatican 2013-2020; * Santo Subito.
What if. In Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation, the Woman Clothed with the Sun, represents the Church at one level. Now if by what the Pope has done, or those who may have misadvised him. The consequences are beyond my understanding to be honest. Maybe this is the time in Chapter 12 when the Women is taken into the desert, where she will be kept safe by God, for a time. Just wondering. I wonder if someone is working the Church from behind line a puppeteer. When you think of it. We were all, worldwide it appears ordered not to go to Mass or receive Holy Sacraments BEFORE the Vatican put out a world wide order or instruction. This has puzzled me. How would the Bishops worldwide have been able to get this imposed on us. I wonder if the Bishops are being frogmarched in obeying someone other than the Pope. Because Bishops are supposed to be united with the Pope, not bulldozing their will on us, without bothering to tell the Pope. Puzzling. Maybe the Pope is chucking in the towel, because the Bishops have grabbed the keys and ignored him for so long. This sort of behaviour has gone on since before Pope Francis was elected. Hey Bishops, your Lordships, Jesus only gave one set of Keys to Peter and his successors. I wonder if the devil has given you the illusion that there are as many sets of keys as there are little fiefdoms to be ruled over. Maybe the Corona virus will be a wake up call to make us all see what has happened to the One True, Holy, Roman Catholic, Apostolic, Universal Church established by Jesus Christ. How many Catholics don't know who to obey anymore, such is the power grab that I see going on. It is very confusing when you think of it.
Part of the chastisement perhaps. A thought occurred to me last night during my evening prayers. Such a clear powerful thought. Because there is no public Mass the many sacrileges and desecrations of Our Lord in the Eucharist are no longer happening. Streams of Catholics have received without confession and without even believing on the Real Presence and many lets face it in mortal sin. Now that has screeched to a halt and those who love the Mass and long for Our Lord are praying our hearts out in on line Masses. A channel of grace has been opened perhaps. Just a sudden thought but it seemed significant.
I don't like going down this road but it leaves one has to wonder when the Pope is dropping titles just to whom he is ceding this authority to? This reminds me of when Pope Paul VI gave the tiara to the UN to be auctioned off for the poor. It was more than simply a symbolic gesture IMO.
On Catholic Radio today Teresa Tomeo and Joan (from Joan's Rome) were discussing the removal of the title Vicar of Christ. They emphasized this is a dogmatic title whereas other historical papal titles, such as Patriarch of the West which Pope Benedict removed, are not. They also commented that the Vatican through Vatican News failed to explain why this was done. Seems of great significance to me.
I live in the Diocese of Boise. This article does not reflect the truth of what is going on here. There is a lay group, Una Voce, advocating for a Latin Mass church that is taking a very hard uncompromising line with the bishop. With the approval of Bishop Peter a Latin Mass began once a month about a year ago at a diocesan church in Nampa. They pushed for one a week. Bishop Peter responded offering tradition novus ordo masses to be said at the cathedral the Sundays there was not a Latin Mass . Some of my family members attended the Una Voce meetings and were dismayed at how unwilling the leaders of this group are to compromise even one little iota. This Latin Mass was a big change among other very positive changes for the Boise diocese which Bishop Peter has slowly made during the last 4 years he's been bishop here. Before him the diocese was an unorthodox mess IMO. When he first became bishop, he consecrated the diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Feast of the Assumption and asked everyone to pray the rosary before the Mass. He introduced praying the St. Michael the Archangel prayer after every mass. We also began kneeling within the last year for the Agnus Dei. Last year he brought in Verbum Spe(sp??), an orthdox order of priests, to run the cathedral. As a result, cathedral masses are full of young families and many women are veiling. He brought FOCUS campus ministers to Boise State as well as an exorcist trained by Father Ripperger. He integrated Catholic radio into diocesan life through churches, advertising, and radio shows. Before him the bishop did all he could to marginalize the station. As a deacon, Mario, I'm sure you're aware that change takes time. Bishop Peter is moving in the direction Una Voce wants but not at their speed. God have mercy on them for attacking a good bishop.
Pope institutes new commission to study women deacons https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2020-04/pope-commission-women-deacons.html
Thank you for the heads up. I'm sorry this group feels the need to do this and that The Remnant is carrying their water so to speak.
Yes, well, it's teaching me a good lesson about rash judgement --- which, my goodness, is so very easy in this upside down time we're all living in. I've been encouraging these family members to send emails to Church Militant and the Remnant but I don't think they will. Maybe I should
Wow Sunnyveil, thank you for telling us "the rest of the story". Sounds like the Bishop is willing to hear and respond to the needs of the diocese and isn't getting a fair shake.
Will they be social distancing?? Honestly, this women need to be deacons/priests is beat to death. The definition of insanity,,,,doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Women CANNOT be ordained! What is so hard to grasp about that sentence?
Maybe there's an element of subconscious truth in this. PF certainly doesn't speak or behave much of the time like a Vicar of Christ.
Do you think Pope Frances will still have this diabolical Global Education Pact on the 14th May? As the holiest week in our Church calendar has been squashed by our hierarchy, maybe the coronavirus has squashed this one! Touché I say!
Oh I just read this! I'm just catching up on this thread. So they are still going to go through with yet another bewildering and confounding round of dialogue, well I suppose...... “If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS"....... always works with the great unwashed. Not.
