Is this virus a case of the emperor who has no clothes? In the video below an experienced German pulmonologist, Dr. Wodarg, who ran a health department, believes it is. According to him, corona viruses are always a portion of flu cases. Every year there are new mutations otherwise we'd develop immunity and all viruses would die out. There is a worldwide shared database where new virus genomes (or whatever the heck they are) can be submitted and this new corona virus was submitted in Wuhan last fall. A German Dr. Drosten decided to develop a test for this new strain and amazingly the WHO accepted it very quickly, without adequate evaluation, and sent it to China. He thinks China panicked when they started testing people positive and way overreacted --- or maybe it was a plot. Now the whole world is panicking . He says that since the test is available every death where corona virus is present is being attributed to it, often wrongly. He does not see that the overall rate of flu deaths, which corona virus is a type of, are significantly higher.

Russia is a Christian nation. Having Putin there longer does not mean it’s a communist takeover. It means Russia is not adopting a Jeffersonian democracy as a republic. It’s not in the Russian culture to adopt an American political system. And as for the Pope’s visiting Moscow, well we shall see. Although he did visit Moscow’s Russian Patriarch in the communist nation of Cuba. Maybe the interpretation was misunderstood. There is a seer in Ecuador who believes this is it for the time of the Warning. I’m hoping that’s the case.

Why then were hospitlas in China and Italy overwhelmed?

The Italian health service has virtually collapsed under the weight of cases - Doctors and nurses exhausted from treating patients --

He might be an experience pulmonologist but I don't see any stunning insights at all.

Utah Earthquake Damages Mormon Temple, Knocks Trumpet From Iconic Angel Statue

    March 19, 2020 by sd

    From CNN:

[IMG]The 5.7-magnitude earthquake that shook Utah Wednesday morning also dislodged a symbolic part of Salt Lake City’s iconic Mormon temple: the trumpet of an angel statue atop its highest spire.

The temple is the spiritual focal point for the 16 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “The trumpet on the Angel Moroni statue fell off, and there is minor displacement of some of the temple’s smaller spire stones,” said Daniel Woodruff, a spokesman for the church.

Utah earthquake damages Mormon temple and knocks trumpet from iconic angel statue

(CNN)The 5.7-magnitude earthquake that shook Utah Wednesday morning also dislodged a symbolic part of Salt Lake City's iconic Mormon temple: the trumpet of an angel statue atop its highest spire.

The temple is the spiritual focal point for the 16 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"The trumpet on the Angel Moroni statue fell off, and there is minor displacement of some of the temple's smaller spire stones," said Daniel Woodruff, a spokesman for the church.

The earthquake didn't injure any workers, Woodruff said, adding that the Salt Lake Temple has been closed to the public while undergoing a seismic upgrade.

In addition to Moroni's trumpet falling off, some the temple's smaller spire stones were displaced, the church said. No other damage was reported.
Aerial photos show the fallen trumpet appeared to land on the roof of the temple near the base of its spires.

The Salt Lake Temple, dedicated in 1893, was the first temple topped with Angel Moroni, according to the church. The 12-foot-5-inch statue, made of copper and gold leaf, stands on a stone ball atop the 210-foot central spire on the east side of the temple.
An iconic symbol of the faith, Moroni stands atop most of the Mormon church's 134 temples worldwide.
The church teaches that Moroni was an ancient prophet who led Mormonism's founder, Joseph Smith, to the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was translated. Moroni's horn, the church says, symbolizes spreading the message of the restoration of Christianity that Mormons believe was begun by Smith.
The quake was centered about 10 miles west of Salt Lake City, near the city of Magna, starting at 7:09 a.m. MT, the US Geological Survey said. It's the state's most powerful quake since 1992, Utah's Division of Emergency Management said.

China was overwhelmed because they tried covering up the existence of the illness, to the extent of arresting and tormenting the doctor who tried to warn the world about this. This doctor later died while trying to treat patients.

As for Italy, there are a number of things happening:

    1. Italy has the largest number of elderly in Europe; partly because it's been a popular retirement spot and partly because the Italian economy was so bad that many of the young left to find work.
    2. Italy has a VERY high percentage of the population that smokes. That's one of the factors that increases someone's susceptibility to the illness. Combine the smoking and elderly and you have a HUGE number of people getting sick.
    3. In America we depend on local health providers for first-level health care. Because of the socialized medicine in Italy people (especially the elderly) rely on their hospitals for their first-level health care. So when they started getting sick, the Italians started pouring into the hospitals.
    4. Italians only recently started "sheltering in place", meaning in February there were a couple of weeks when the virus was free to flourish.
So there's VERY little chance of the American health system being similarly overwhelmed.

One other thing that just struck me: the young are not immune. It's not just tobacco smoking that damages your lungs. We have both the vaping and the marijuana users who will be in danger.

I've stopped watching Chris Martinson. Too much doom. I know it's bad and he may well be right but at this point I find I need to avoid the dark stuff and focus on God's news.

I agree. The Italian health care system is not significantly different this year than it was last year or the year before, yet the sheer number of extra patients this year has brought the system to the brink of collapse. According to one report I read or watched, not all elderly patients who die are tested for the virus so it would be inaccurate to say that every person who dies with the virus is counted among those whose death was caused by the virus.

It seems strange, too, that he connects China's introduction of face recognition surveillance with the virus. I think that had already been introduced before the Wuhan epidemic.

People stay strong. Watching Tucker Carlson on Fox News tonight was an education. China even held back on sending us respirators. We don’t even make our own Vitamin C anymore. The Chloroquine medication is the key. And the Chinese have known this knowledge from day one. Their cover up was criminal.

Let’s get everyone tested!!!! What is taking so long???? We can make anything in 2 seconds in this country. We must have bases where we can start manufacturing our own test kits!

Report: Amazon and Gates Foundation aim to team up with scientists on home test kits for coronavirus (https://www.geekwire.com/2020/repor...m-team-scientists-home-test-kits-coronavirus/)

Amazon Care is offering assistance to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a plan to deliver coronavirus test kits to Seattle homes, CNBC reports.

The plan as described hints at a grand convergence involving two major players on Seattle’s tech scene, plus the University of Washington and the Seattle Flu Study.

Amazon Care is an on-demand healthcare clinic that’s open on a pilot basis to Seattle-area Amazon employees and their families. CNBC quoted unnamed sources as saying Amazon has offered to come up with a plan to deliver the test kits, which include nasal swabs to take samples, at no cost.

In an email to GeekWire, an Amazon spokesperson said “we’re in discussions with leaders in public health about how we can help” – but didn’t provide further details.

Amazon’s involvement builds on the Gates Foundation’s plan to leverage a program created by the Seattle Flu Study, a consortium of researchers that’s been tracking the spread of the coronavirus outbreak in the Seattle area for weeks.

Coronavirus Live Updates: The latest COVID-19 developments in Seattle and the world of tech
This week, regulators stopped the Seattle Flu Study from performing tests for coronavirus and sharing the results, due to the fact that the researchers didn’t have approval for clinical applications of their testing protocol. But the study’s principal investigator, UW geneticist Jay Shendure, said he and his colleagues saw a “path forward” to resuming their work.

Although Shendure didn’t go into detail about that path, Trevor Bedford of Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, said in a tweet that UW’s Virology Lab would be involved.

Last week, the virology lab began conducting its own coronavirus tests, thanks to a go-ahead that the Food and Drug Administration issued under emergency guidelines. The lab’s managers say they’re performing more than 900 tests a day and could improve that pace to as many as 5,000 tests daily.

That pace could mesh with the Gates Foundation’s objective to monitor and respond to the COVID-19 outbreak more closely. Last week, the foundation pledged $5 million to boost detection efforts in the Seattle area, in part by building upon the work of the Seattle Flu Study.

Today, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and other regional officials announced a sweeping campaign to control the spread of coronavirus, including school closures and strict limitations on public gatherings in the Seattle area. Epidemiologists say doing a better job of identifying people who have the virus will be key to taking more precisely targeted actions.

We’ve reached out to the Gates Foundation, the Seattle Flu Study and UW Medicine, and will update this report with anything we hear back.

Hard to imagine anyone trusting the likes of Amazon or Gates with their medical information but I am sure there are some people who will be chomping at the bit to get their test kits. The same people I bet who throw family members out of their homes who are trying to help them. Fear really is a contagion.
My BIL was offered a home test kit by Franciscan who I believe is also partnering with Gates. He politely declined. I can see some states trying to make testing mandatory if the overreach keeps up.
