I've an in-law who works in a county hospital in a large border city. I've politely warned her twice (not of this article). She pooh-pooh's all this as "I'm not going to let fear run my life." I replied there's fear...then there's caution. Sure hope she checks that bravado and wises up.
This is a Church recognized approval by a Bishop w/ an imprimatur. That stands for the freedom to disseminate the messages from one who knows the visionary. She has lived in the countries of note with the assistance of the local Bishops. The info given that is translated into English for the personal life background is not clear in that it has not been updated as the other special sections have not...to include more given messages relating to those categories. Nonetheless, in any case, this statement backed by Church Imprimatur is given to okay the faithful's "reception with faith and gratitude". In fact if one does not recognize a Bishop's Imprimatur as a "current" stage of approval then one simply is not an obedient Catholic and is attempting to limit what can go forth to the faithful at the current time. One cannot be holier than the Church. You don't have to believe yourself but you cannot stop others, at this time, from believing, following the messages, and participating in the devotion w/ its new Title and prayer. If you have info that this Bishop is not of good standing, well, that would be news! All of the writings/messages have thus been approved for participation by the faithful. As the same is permitted for other PRs such as Medj. and Our Lady of America....this approval is as recognized for belief in these as in these other rather renowned PRs, and this even after the OLOA messages have been completed....no one can prevent these w/o going against what is permitted by the Church. Since the statement by the Bishop covers all that has been given within the messages w/o any part being objected to then all is safe. If you personally do not wish to take advantage of these helps for these times that's up to you. I see that there is nothing given within this statement of Imprimatur that would give you any basis for your own doubts. If you object to this authority as being valid for continuing the dissemination then you should give same objection to Cardinal Burke's approval of OLOA which has gone out as the basis for belief in those messages and devotions and prayers, etc., prior to any official commission of study, while he had to admit later that the PR was still awaiting the official study. But he allowed those promoting the devotion to use his stamp of approval and said he would do the same as he has when questioned about these "specifics". It's no different other than comparing personal likes or dislikes. The Church protocol that gives Bishops the right to discern and guide the faithful during the period of ongoing PRs permits what is going forth with the LdM continuing messages. This statement of Imprimatur includes all that is within this "divine help" w/ no objections to anything. Grateful to Heaven for such a great heavenly gift, we exhort the People of God to receive with faith and gratitude over this divine help that springs from the loving Will of God that wants to protect all of us in the present and the future through the maternal help of the “Queen and Mother of the End Times". When you receive your own authority (which would have to be imagined only) to divide the devotion and its messages up into parts then you can offer that "expertise" to the Church authorities and see if that changes anything that has gone forth at this time. The natural helps come as much from the messages in their entirety as the rest that is contained within them. The Bishop made no such objection to anything specifically given within the whole when he speaks to the "maternal help" for these end times. This is how things stand in truth. If you want to continue your personal objections then you might start a private conversation w/ like minded PR skeptics, who continue to object even after given the facts that stand within same Church protocol prior to any official commission of study being established....while the messages are ongoing.
You know it is striking me very deeply the amount of masses that are not being said around the world due to the virus....The evil that was being held back in the world by these masses and not to mention the prayers offered up for the souls in purgatory Boy do I feel a storm coming. "The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing" prayers needed for sure.... Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for all sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen. Prayer of St Gertrude....
That's a long way of saying that there is no document from any Bishop saying that the message from Luz de Maria giving advice on prevention of viruses and airborne bacteria which she claims to have received from heaven is worthy of belief. The Bishop's document you reproduced is an imprimatur "let it be printed" for a prayer. Are you telling us that Luz de Maria submitted her cure to her local Bishop and that the Bishop subsequently said "this vision with advice for preventing viruses and airborne bacteria is worthy of belief"? Was Luz de Maria living in the diocese of Esteli when she supposedly received that vision?

A thousand times yes! 'Be not afraid' is the message the faithful need to hear in times of crisis. Our Church responds in fear by closing churches. I can see underground Masses in our future, and this is most likely already happening in Italy.
Patrick Coffin says it's all hype. I wish. I was talking to a lady in A&E last night and asked her why she was not wearing the fitted mask she had been given and she said it was all hysteria and hype and would all blow over. So a view from the Alternate Universe with Patrick Coffin. (I have to say he sounds semi hysterical himself here )
I wonder about your response to all of this, Padraig. You seem to be of the opinion that we should all be masked and quarantined. Why the fear? Does it bother you that they are suspending Masses? Why stoke the flames of fear?
When I get into my car I put on a seat belt and drive carefully, not because I am afraid but because I don't want to get hurt. When I take precautions against the virus, it is not because of fear but because I don't want to get hurt. Not wanting to get hurt or die is a reasonable human position to take. Unreasonable fear is wrong, but there can be healthy fear to. The person who does not walk into certain city areas at night because of fear is perhaps exercising a healthy fear. The person who fears walking under ladders may exhibit an unhealthy fear. Suspending masses , is in my view the result an unhealthy fear. Closing pubs, on the contrary, is the result of a healthy fear. It's a question of horses for courses. Of course those suffering from the virus should be quarantined . Of course those treating them should be masked. What else should people do?
That is a reasonable response, thank you. My view is that this is just the latest assault by satan to knock out Mass going Catholics. The sex abuse clergy scandal didn't quite get the job done and so now this is the latest punch. I will try again not to read this thread. My willpower is very weak. God bless everyone.
Tomorrow Geralyn and I fly out to California to spend time with Rachel, Steve, and their four children. Like her Mom, Rachel is preeminently practical and has no time to waste on the fear-mongering. Rachel home-schools her children and in most ways governs the home since Steve works two jobs to keep afloat: the cost-of-living is extreme. Rachel will take precautions, but I remember at the age of twelve, Rachel would come downstairs before dressing and spend 20 minutes in morning prayer each day. So while I'm visiting I will zip-my-lips. I should follow her philosophy: The Lord is enthroned on high. Trust in him. What will be, will be!
This is one of the best "Keep Calm etc" posters that I have seen yet. and this one... And another wonderful video from Father Mark Goring.
Yes, Jo M, when I return from California I would be surprised if nursing homes in my area would not begin experiencing similar problems. Of the 2 nursing homes I go to, there is one which has 950 residents in the building I visit! Lord have mercy. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
My husband goes to our local nursing homes to say the rosary. I told him this may be ending very soon.
One of the biggest GAA clubs in Belfast has closed its clubhouse and suspended all training and matches after a member tested positive for coronavirus. The affected club is St Gall's, winners of the All-Ireland Club Senior Football Championship in 2010, who are based on the Falls Road in west Belfast. Not far from you Padraig! https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2020/0309/1121206-gaa-club-shuts-down-as-coronavirus-case-detected/
Recent news: An Anglican (Episcopalian) priest in DC went to Kentucky for some sort of large meeting. When he came back he developed corona virus. He has been in crowds and ministering to his own congregation. It boggles the mind. His entire church is closed now until further notice. And I am not sure what is going on with the people in Kentucky. I have read that the transmission of this virus is not linear, but exponential. I can certainly see that. I think the biggest unknown here is the delayed onset. You feel fine until BOOM. And then we have to examine all of your past contacts. Dreadful.
