Prayer for Protection Against Corona Virus Plague. Stella Coeli The Star of Heaven that nourished the Lord drove away the plague of death which the first parents of man brought into the world. May this bright Star now vouchsafe to extinguish that foul constellation whose battles have slain the people with the wound of death. O most pious Star of the Sea, preserve us from pestilence; hear us, O Lady, for Thy Son honours Thee by denying Thee nothing. Save us, O Jesus, for whom Thy Virgin Mother supplicates Thee. V: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray O God of mercy, God of pity, God of benign clemency, Thou Who hast had compassion on the affliction of Thy people, and hast said to the angel striking them, “Stop thy hand;” for the love of this glorious Star, whose breasts Thou didst sweetly drink as antidote for our crimes, grant the assistance of Thy grace, that we may be safely freed from all pestilence, and from unprovided death; and mercifully save us from the gulf of eternal perdition: through Thee, Lord Jesus Christ, King of Glory, who livest and reignest, world without end. Amen.]
The prayer was from an article about a city where there was a plague, and the people got the nuns to storm Heaven to stop the plague. It appears that was the prayer they offered and the plague stopped. I did not want to take up too much space with the whole story. It is supposed to be a very powerful prayer in petition to stop a plague. Corona Virus seems a lot like a plague to me. If it is not contained it could decimate a lot of people. Some articles say even when you recover there is damage done that will cause long term health issues. I don't know really, just read that somewhere, could be fake news about the long term damage.
Thanks for this prayer. I will add it to my bedtime list. I used to have just three prayers I prayed before climbing in bed. Now the list is so long it takes me 15 minutes to pray them all! 1Thess 4: 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray constantly, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
I know what you mean. They get longer and longer for me too. And my list gets longer. But it's a joy to lift others up in prayer.
Julia, Today, I took this prayer with me to the nursing home where I minister on Sundays and Fridays. I wanted JoeJerk to know how serious I was so I wore my alb and stole. I quoted the beginning of Ps 68, then prayed the above prayer and anointed the front and rear entrances with Holy Water! Some family of residents stopped by to thank me! So I thank you for bringing it to our attention. It inspired me! One thing I added was that the Holy Spirit also inspire those seriously afflicted with the disease to pray a perfect Act of Contrition. Featured snippet from the web www.americaneedsfatima.org Perfect contrition (also called contrition of charity) is a repentance for sin that is motivated by faith and the love of God. ... Perfect contrition removes the guilt and eternal punishment due to mortal sin, even before the sinner has received absolution in the sacrament of penance (also Sacrament of Reconciliation) Safe Under Mary's Mantle!
