A person 10 miles from me tested positive. Major metropolitan area. She had been tested 2 weeks before...negitive. So she has been infecting people for 2 weeks and only now tested positive. I have an underlying respiratory condition, and I am over 55. But really its OK. I will take prudent measures and not worry. God is by my side...I may get the illness but I abandon myself to devine providence.
Yes, I just saw this too, dozens were sent to the hospital. They all attended a Biogen conference in Boston last week for COVID-19. It's a mess. Confirmed Coronavirus cases in NYC have doubled in one day, and a few thousand have been quarantined. My son, who is in the thick of it there, said they are spraying down the subways, and such. He is flying to Jamaica tomorrow for a film shoot, and happy to be leaving NY, but traveling is another scary story.

Shocking that someone thinks they are "safe" and then 2 weeks later tests positive. How can they ever track everyone in contact with this person?
Yes. Tonight my son called us from Sri Lanka. So far so good there but he is afraid they wont be able to get home in june because of closed borders and potential quarantines. Boston is in our "neighborhood" along with New Hampshire.
So you know things are bad when you get a COVID-19 preparedness email from your bank, and your local hardware store. Almost like a hurricane preparedness email you get from your homeowners insurance before your roof blows away.

Garabandal, You started this thread on 22nd January. Today is the 7th March. We have had plenty of warning to be prepared. Pray, hope and don't worry doesn't exclude making preparations to cope with a foreseen problem. We know that the regular media can't be trusted to give unbiased reports on religious and social matters. Why would we trust them on something as vital as our health and safety? Who were we trusting to report on this virus which is relatively harmless to the young but lethal for the elderly and immune compromised? Wet behind the ears journalists who would gladly euthanise their grannies and abort their own babies to save the whale? Politicans beholden to globalists who made billions off the backs of cheap labour in a totalitarian state while preaching to us about human and civil rights? Chinese people living outside China bought up face masks and sent them to their relatives when we were all sitting back thinking the virus needed a visa to reach us. I don't blame Chinese people for doing that because we would have done the same in their position. I blame authorities who knew what was coming and all of them in the Western world have proved to be woefully inept. And in some respects, those of us who are caught totally unprepared aren't blameless. We had plenty of warning.
My grandfather was raised by his grandmother and an aunt - he went off to war in 1916 aged 17 -- When he returned home late 1918 both his aunt and grandmother had died from the effects of Spanish flu so he was effectively orphaned and alone. I studied the Spanish flu outbreak as it impacted directly on my family and when this new virus came I saw similarities -- We are undergoing the first wave spring 2020 -- Please God we don't get the second wave in the Autumn of 2020 and the third wave in the winter of 2020-2021 -- This was the pattern of the Spanish flu with the 2nd and 3rd waves being worse than the first.
This is the truth with no bark on it (as Jane Austen would say). Thanks to the forum back in Jan. I started preparing. Padrsig's dire warning about the spiritual side of it coupled with Sister Agnes's message last October had me taking it all very seriously. Because of this forum--praise God--i think we are all ahead of the curve but I have trouble getting my husband and son to take it seriously. People are in a kind of bubble trusting the experts. I credit Dr Campbell and Chris Martensen for keeping me informed as well. Where it goes from here --well I dont know. It is like watching a massive car pileup about to occur from a great distance. You shout a warning but no one can hear and then the sickening clang of metal-- one car after another.
I agree in Dolours in what you say. My friend is Chinese and over a month ago she bought masks online and sent them to her family at really cheap prices. However, even with a supply of masks here many westerners I think wouldn’t were them. For example, it was aired on Chinese tv (again my Chinese friend informed me) that when one of the Italian ministers wore a mask in parliament earlier in the week he was laughed at by the other politicians!
My own family has a similar story from the Spanish 'flu as do many other families. Thank you and others for highlighting the threat of this virus. Thanks to all of you, I managed to get some masks and hand sanitiser but not nearly enough. Latex gloves and disinfectant wipes are still readily available as are bottles of bleach and disinfectant. I learned that masks are made here but that some small part (I think it's a filter) are made in China. There seems to be some hope of a treatment being available before the Autumn wave. It remains to be seen how widely available it will be. Now that India has threatened to hoard ingredients for antibiotics, the powers that be in the EU are finally getting together to make sure they are better prepared in future. Hopefully, it isn't too little, too late. Meanwhile, I'll be praying especially that the virus doesn't take hold in the poorest countries where the effects would be similar to the devastation the Spanish 'flu brought to our forebears.
