A Mob in the Agora, But Prayer in the Square
An interview with German Catholic writer Gabriele Kuby
    Edward Pentin
Around 130 invited lay faithful took part in a silent prayer demonstration in Munich at the weekend to call on Pope Francis and Germany’s bishops for “clarity and coherence” and an end to “dissimulation and deception.”

One of those taking part in the event, which was timed to coincide with the beginning of a controversial two-year synodal path in the German Church, was the German Catholic writer, sociologist and expert in the problems of gender ideology, Gabriele Kuby.

In this Jan. 18 interview with the Register, Kuby explains how important the demonstration was for Germany, why she believes it is important to resist current changes, and that sacrifices need to be made to defend the Church from those within who, she says, are primarily concerned only about power.

What is your evaluation of the Acies Ordinata (the Jan. 18 demonstration) in Munich?

I’m very happy about this event. It’s like a blood infusion for Germany from people who have no fear of saying the truth. They’re not crippled by political correctness and fear — “Deutsche Angst” — and so are not deterred from standing on the front line and saying the truth.

What form should that commitment take?

What [Austrian Catholic activist] Alexander Tschugguel said is right: We need to become aware that we must make sacrifices. We won’t make any difference as long as we try to protect ourselves. And if we are always behind the frontline in order to avoid any backlash — even if it’s just a little bit behind the frontline — it means the adversary can always progress.

In other words, the faithful must be prepared to raise their heads above the parapet?

Right. Of course, not with blindness. We all have a certain role and position from where to speak and act. As Jesus says, we have to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves. Also, although I fully supported this event, one or two participants became too aggressive in their rhetoric and this is another danger to avoid.

What sort of impact do you think it will have?

I don't know. We are beyond the place where good arguments really make a difference. It’s only about power and money, sadly, not only in politics, but also often in the Church. The Synodal Process is carefully designed to manipulate the consciousness of believers into acceptance of a new Church that adapts to the demands of the sexual revolution.

The bishops have given 50% of their authority in decision-making to the Zentralkomitee der Deutschen Katholiken [the German Church's largest lay group] which has pushed for liberalisms for as long as I can remember. Since the majority of the bishops are also “Marxists” [supporters of German Cardinal Reinhard Marx], the outcome will be as intended: change in the perennial teaching of the Church in matters of priesthood — celibacy and women’s ordination — and sexual morals. We’re beyond the state where we have an agora where we can actually search for the truth together.

What can be the next step forward then, if arguments and protests aren’t enough?

I’m not a strategist. I’m an individual who tries to speak the truth. I think every person has their place and role. We have talents, certain positions in society, and we have to become obedient in listening to the Holy Spirit.

What do you say to those who argue that it is those protesting in Munich who need to listen more to the Holy Spirit who is guiding the Church toward a more “synodal” Church that listens more to the world?

Frankly, I prefer to listen to the unchangeable word of Christ and the saints. This kind of seemingly spiritual advice is a manipulative sowing of confusion.

Common Sense About the Common Good

One of the comments at the link queries whether ushers will taser anyone who kneels!

At least he's reported as strongly pro-life. In general, those who are genuine and open in opposing abortion tend not to stray too far from the realms of orthodoxy. Those who wish to destroy The Church and all She stands for totally despise the pro-life movement.

I've been thinking about liberalism this morning. Perez is obviously a liberal. However, Catholicism has always been a broad Church, tolerating a wide diversity of opinion within Herself. This diversity has always been bound by a line beyond which one crosses into heresy. I suspect, and pray, that there are many liberals within the Church who will not quite cross that line. When it comes to the next papal conclave, we all rightly fear the consequences of a College of Cardinals dominated by Francis' appointees. The result will depend on just how liberal these liberals are.

  6. Well, if the prophecy about the Pope who will be the one who would arrive/be given, to support the remnant and lead them into the New Era, being chosen by Peter himself in some unknown way, is true, then that would take place, not in a false or manipulated conclave of some newly humanly created outward institutional church, but in some hidden way of the Divine Will where the new purified bride/Church is being formed in the persecution, birthed through the Woman Clothed with the sun and within her travail - as we see already today - of doing so in such times where Satan awaits to grab such a child. That Church will not be the one we contend with today for that will have crumbled, literally and spiritually into that globalist one w/o Christ.

Remember all the outrage about the Chinese lady pulling the Pope's hand? Read this and tell me whether if you were Chinese you would have passed up the chance of getting the Pope's attention even if it meant grabbing and holding on to him: https://claytestament.blogspot.com/2019/12/dear-catholics-on-china-and-demons-in.html

I recall watching all the videos released by the Vatican during their climate conference and I'm sure that I posted links to some of them. The overall impression I got from watching those videos was that I was watching a propaganda exercise by people with no supernatural faith. To put it bluntly, the Vatican's most senior person at the conference, Bishop Sances Sorondo from Buenos Aires, clearly couldn't tell his arse from his elbow. He's the same Bishop who declared that China is the best example of the implementation of Catholic social teaching. Prior to the Vatican's deal with China, America (the Jesuit outfit) had posted a video on youtube showing how much freedom was being enjoyed by Catholics in China.

For those who don't like clicking on external links, I quote below the full text of the blogpost. Is a photo-op for Pope Francis in the Forbidden City worth this?

Dear Catholics: On China and Demons in High Places

This is for all of you to ponder. It is not for the faint of heart. It concerns our Church and China.

First, it is known by medical and human rights authorities that China’s communist regime harvests organs from prisoners of conscience (arrested Uighurs, Falun Gong practitioners, Christians) in order to sell them to wealthy foreigners seeking transplants. The numbers are staggering, the profits are huge, and reports indicate that organs are often harvested from bound, live prisoners.

In recent years, China has claimed that such practices have ended, but those claims have been proven false by researchers in the US, France, and elsewhere. In a Forbes piece from last month, another new study is cited that found that “claims of reform are being supported by the ‘systematic falsification and manipulation of official organ transplant datasets in China.’” (Read the whole piece to get some idea of the nature of the coverup and how the datasets were debunked.)

The fact is that medical authorities across the globe know China’s horrific harvesting continues apace. Which is no surprise. The practice manages to terrorize religious believers in China even as it nets the perpetrators around $1 billion a year.

Now look what our current Church leadership is doing. Look what this Vatican official, Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, was doing last week. From an article in the Global Times:

Pope Francis has love and confidence in China and China trusts Pope Francis, said a Vatican bishop during a conference held in China, noting that the next step for the two countries is to establish diplomatic relations, which is at the center of the Pope's heart.

Speaking at an organ donation and transplantation conference held in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan Province over the weekend, Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, chancellor of Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences said “Pope Francis has love and confidence in China; and China trusts Pope Francis.”
A Vatican bishop deigns to grace a Chinese “organ donation and transplantation” conference with his official presence.

I’m sorry, but this is demonic. There is no other word for it.

That the Vatican seeks relations with China is one thing. That our Church’s leadership would agree to give face to China for this “conference” is despicable. Even secular medical authorities from secular democratic nations would not appear at such a gruesome, utterly fake PR event.

How can our Church be involved in this?

There are many faithful Catholics who feel things are amiss, but would rather not look closely. If you are one such, I promise you, the more you research the men that have been promoted to the top by our current pope, the more you study their "theological" positions and goals, the more horrified you will become. (Bishop Sanchez Sorondo in 2018: “At this moment, the Chinese are the ones implementing Catholic social teaching best.”)

If Sanchez Sorondo's words last week are correct, it looks like our wise Argentines in the Vatican also intend eventually to cut long-standing diplomatic relations with democratic Taiwan in order to join forces with Xi’s China. Cardinal Zen in Hong Kong is right to be near despair over the betrayal of China’s Catholics.

Bishop Sanchez Sorondo in Kunming, China

If you have the stomach for it, I offer you another, more “tactile” article on what our Vatican bishop is cheerleading, from The New York Post: here.

Myself I am in mourning over the Church I joined five years ago. It is being led to very bad places, on many fronts—in its slow, carefully orchestrated betrayal of Catholic teaching on marriage and sexuality; in its embrace of paganism at the last “Amazon Synod”; in the nonstop promotion of precisely those men who seek nothing so much as to abandon Catholic doctrine; in this gruesome appeasement of communist China.

How are we Catholics to understand this ongoing chaos and disorder in our Church, that Church against which “the gates of Hell shall not prevail”?

I often suspect this current apostasy in our leaders is divine punishment for the Church’s many recent betrayals both of the faithful and of her mission (all the victims of clergy sexual abuse, all the coverups, all the relativism that grew out of Vatican II). If this reading is correct, what we are witnessing in Rome is akin to the punishment of Israel and Judah for their own apostasies, those betrayals bewailed by the Prophets, and which ended with the destruction of the two kingdoms. Israel and Judah too were given “blind” leaders, leaders who led them to ruin, because the people had for too long blinded themselves to God’s law.

Pray for Pope Francis? I would say rather: Pray that Pope Francis. Pray that God change his heart. Pray that our pope begin to uphold Church teaching. Pray that he recognize the clear evils that have crept in under his watch, and usually with his blessing.

And yes: Pray for Holy Mother Church. She will ultimately triumph.

And please: As a Catholic living in Asia, I ask you to pray for the Church in China. She has been betrayed by Rome. The many faithful there, who well understand what kind of regime they live under, remain in shock at this betrayal and the actions of men like Sanchez Sorondo. They sorely need your prayers.

    Kyrie eleison.

This is why I cannot accept PF's reaction.
It's not difficult to believe that he could guess what might be coming when he saw this lady making the sign of the cross as he was approaching her.

The Chinese Catholics have truly been betrayed by Bergoglio and his team.
They have been thrown to the wolves.

Years ago when Esdtern Europe was suffering terrible religious persecution John 23 did a similar thing. He refused to denounce the Soviet Union at his early gatherings of religions as part of outreach to other Faith's because he wanted the Russian Patriarch to attend. ( it's in the novel Vatican by Malachi Martin) it was seen at the time as a terrible betrayal.

I wonder if Cardinal Zen still believes that it's not PF who is the problem, or that PF isn't aware of what his hand-picked team members are doing.

If anything, the China deal is worse. One of the Bishops whom the Vatican had step aside to make way for a Communist bishop has gone missing since he wouldn't sign up with the Communist Church recognised by the Vatican agreement. May Our Lord Jesus give him the strength to endure this persecution.

Bishop Sanchez Sorondo probably knows less about organ transplants than the scant knowledge he displayed about climate change. (I think that someone at the climate conference also had to set him straight on a matter of Church teaching). I reckon that he was sent to the conference in China to plead for some concession to take the bad look off the sell-out agreement.

I think he knows now. He probably saw the truth when Pope Francis, asked about the China agreement, said this about the members of the underground Church:

“It’s true, they will suffer. There is always suffering in an agreement”.

He actually likened that deal to the times when Catholic monarchs in Europe had a say in choosing bishops. Has he no shame?

There could be worse on the horizon. Cardinal Zen's replacement in Hong Kong has been chosen but not officially installed because he is seen as not hard-line enough against the pro-Beijing powers there. I read an article about that recently but I can't remember where. I think it may have been in Crux so it would have been slanted very much in favour of anything Pope Francis does. I think that they described the new Bishop of Hong Kong as a moderate who favours dialogue.

Beijing's puppet in Hong Kong (Carrie Lamb?) is "Catholic".
