Had a dream about Benedict 16th years ago shortly after he resigned. In the dream he was inside a see through screen -as though protected-, surrounded by horrible looking dogs on the outside looking in at him.
Sounds like a true dream to me. Poor man. I hopeone day we will find out the whole truth. He deserves that al least.
Pope Enlists Atheist to Hose Down Media Firestorm Leftist Eugenio Scalfari dedicates three pages to defending Francis by Jules Gomes • ChurchMilitant.com • January 17, 2020 ROME (ChurchMilitant.com) - Pope Francis has used his latest interview with his atheist journalist friend, Eugenio Scalfari, to de-escalate media furor over the book on priestly celibacy published by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Cdl. Robert Sarah. The case of Benedict apparently coming out against Francis' possible ordination of married priests in the Amazon and other outlying regions is closed, the pontiff tells Scalfari, founder of La Repubblica, in a three-page interview. Francis insists that the pope emeritus has demonstrated "fraternal" solidarity with him and has not allied himself with Cdl. Sarah, the Guinean prelate and co-author of From the Depths of Our Hearts. "The controversy with Ratzinger [Benedict] is therefore closed and what little or much remains of opponents must be considered a fairly normal phenomenon in such structures," Francis comments. "It is normal that there are different visions," he adds. Moreover, "in an organization that embraces hundreds of millions of people all over the world, there is always someone who will be against [the leadership]." Headlined "Francis: Me, Ratzinger and Saving the Earth" and with the subtitle "Pope Francis: With Ratzinger the Case is Closed," the telephone interview is being interpreted as a firefighting attempt to extinguish the media conflagration sparked by the book on priestly celibacy. "I am moved only by the desire to make our Church survive by updating our collective spirit to be in tune with modern civil society," Francis insists, explaining that "the Church is obliged to become more modern — to be with the poor and the weak, not with the rich and strong." "All religions, not just Christianity, must know modern society very well in its cultural, spiritual and living depth. This is a modernity that began four or five centuries ago." [video] Media commentators are reading the pope's genuflection to modernity as a hint that the Church is soon to approve married clergy in the Amazon — a step they fear may be a slippery slope toward elimination of the celibate priesthood. Scalfari Interpretations Suspect Scalfari claimed in his published interview that the Holy Father had "not taken seriously the attempt of a group of cardinals supporting Sarah," and instead had "accepted Ratzinger's friendly and even fraternal offer" on Thursday, a day before the interview. But Scalfari's interviewing techniques have been questioned, casting doubts on what Pope Francis actually said as opposed to what Scalfari attributes to him. The , 'Pope Emeritus' (the title the Holy Father himself gave him) is now, 'Ratzinger'?..and is 'Allied', with himself against Cardinal Sarah? It all reminds me of the Chess pieces in , 'Alice in Wonderfland'. Bizzarre Peronist politics. Mind games. Pope Francis and God knows what game he is playing in that little head of his. God and Francis alone.
So, Scalfari is reliable after all? If this report is accurate, and clearly Pope Francis didn't ask Scalfari to correct his previous reports, then those reports must also be accurate. Of course, it was Pope Francis who told Scalfari that he and Pope Benedict are best buddies. Pope Benedict, on the other hand, didn't talk to Scalfari. The Pope Emeritus met with Cardinal Sarah with whom he co-authored the book that caused the people "close to" Pope Francis to get their knickers in a twist. Evidently, the book had the same effect on Pope Francis, otherwise he wouldn't have felt the need to turn to Scalfari when all his usual apologists disgraced themselves and him.
Pope Francis never denied a word Scalafari uttered. Not one. In all thos einterviews. Not one. Including the not believing in God thingy.
My dream would be he would retire and that the next Pope would defrock and excommunicate him, cutting off any pension.
It’s all happening. Rotate Caeli is coming onside. Benedict is Pope. Ann BarnhardtJanuary 18, ARSH 2020 https://www.barnhardt.biz/2020/01/1...tate-caeli-is-coming-onside-benedict-is-pope/ Rotate Caeli, the very influential international Traditional Catholic blog, just retweeted this – a response to Professor Roberto de Mattei’s piece of a few days ago. Here is the money quote from de Mattei’s piece: The priesthood can’t even be lost by death, because it subsists “in aternum” . The papacy, on the other hand, can be lost, not only by death, but also in the case of voluntary renunciation or of manifest, notorious heresy. If he renounces being pontiff, the Pope ceases to be such: he has no right to wear white nor impart the Apostolic Blessing. He, from a canonical point of view, is no longer even a cardinal, but goes back to being a simple bishop. Unless his renunciation is invalid: but this, in the case of Benedict XVI, should be proven. Effectively, the title of Pope today is being given to both Francis and Benedict, but one is certainly abusive, as only one [man] can be Pope in the Church. Yep. Folks, no progress will be made so long as the TRUTH of the canonical invalidity of Pope Benedict’s attempted resignation is not actively, positively acknowledged. Anything less will simply mean more wheel-spinning. BUT, if the truth is acknowledged, folks, I’m telling you, the sun will rise on a new world the next day. Again, here is the form that a Cardinalatial announcement could take: “Significant canonical irregularities have been identified with regards to Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation as proffered in February of 2013. Pending further investigation, a state of emergency suspense is hereby declared.” Thirty words. Everything changes. For the better. Pray for Pope Benedict XVI, the Papacy, and Holy Mother Church. +
Do you think Pope Francis could have chosen an atheist journalist because he doesn’t “have a dog in the race”. Because both liberal and conservative Catholics manipulate and spin what he says and weaponize his every word? I don’t know but I trust the media much less than I trust the Pope and trust the hierarchy around him even less.
Also, as several people have pointed out, in this letter that was tweeted out by Cardinal Sarah on Jan 14 (https://twitter.com/Card_R_Sarah/status/1216870068656668677?s=20) in support of his statement that the book was definitely co-authored with Pope Benedict XVI, in the last line of the letter, PBXVI imparts his Apostolic Blessing, in response to a request by Cardinal Sarah. Only the Pope can impart this type of blessing. Google translate of that line: "Following your question, I impart my apostolic blessing to you, to your collaborators and to your loved ones. His in the Lord" +
It’s rorate coeli, I think Sp I think I always pray that the truth will come out and people will be helped Can’t go wrong
I don't believe "they" will let him out of their sights. It seems pretty drastic when you have to sacrifice yourself for the alleged protection of your secretary from the wrath of a pope. So glad to read "pension" there in that spot, Padraig!!!!
Well...God works mysteriously. But if this does reveal itself may St Michael protect B16. He may be in some danger now perhaps. What would it be after such an announcement?
Why the need for Pope Francis to "choose" any journalist? Pope Benedict and Cardinal Sarah have every right to write a book on any topic, especially matters on which they are more knowledgeable than most people alive today. There's nothing to stop Pope Francis writing his own book on the same topics, although he certainly isn't as learned as Pope Benedict or Cardinal Sarah. He could even clarify his position in an Apostolic Exhortation. If Pope Francis and the Pope Emeritus are on the same page regarding the topics covered in the book, wouldn't that be clear in the Apostolic Exhortaton currently being written by Pope Francis? (Actually, the indications are that he isn't writing the Exhortation but it is being ghost written by others and he will put his name to it.) Could it be that there's something in the Apostolic Exhortation which contradicts what Pope Benedict has written in the book he co-authored with Cardinal Sarah? What about the divinity of Jesus? Catholics thought that matter was settled. If no-dog-in-the-race Scalfari is to be believed, Pope Francis doesn't believe that the matter is settled. How strange that a Catholic would believe that an avowed atheist who made his name attacking the Church has "no dog in the race". St. Paul surely knew what the race was all about when he said: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". If Scalfari and Pope Francis are on the same team, Pope Francis is not on Team Catholic.
