In the video recorded in Marshall's home, the Austrian admitted he is 6'8" tall. Perhaps, Marshall is as short as was my father-in-law, Joseph: 5'9". O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
This is why the call to Eucharistic Adoration in the book, In Sinu Jesu, is so crucial for our times. May we meditate upon it and put it in practice! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
From SgCatholic's post #1044-5: Yet, at the same time, the Council itself showed an “ecclesiocentrism” (which is a “hidden anthropocentrism”) that had come into the life of the Church since the Second Vatican Council, whereas before that time there was the phenomenon of an “insane ultramontanism.” ecclesiocentrism : church-centered anthropocentrism : man-centered ultramontanism : pertaining to the prerogatives and powers of the Pope The above summary of Bishop Schneider's needs a little clarification. Partly due to the Western Schism and corruption in the Papacy during the 14th, 15th, and part of the 16th century, the position of conciliarism arose arguing that a universal Church council carried greater authority than the Pope. This position weakened after the Council of Trent, but in the 19th century re-appeared especially among French bishops. The First Vatican Council appeared to settle the issue with it's definition on Papal infallibility. What followed were what are now conceived as strong Popes who were aware of the threat of modernism and freemasonry. Thus we have Pius IX, Leo XIII, and Pius X. Even Pius XI took a strong doctrinal stance with Casti Connubii and Pius XII with Humani Generis. Perhaps all this is what Bishop Schneider means by an "insane ultramontanism?" I'm unsure. But still, more recently, most traditional and conservative Catholics have been pleased with the moral Encyclicals of John Paul II such as Veritatis Splendor and Evangelium Vitae. So much for background. What we know from a liturgical stance since Vatican II and more recently from the Amazon Synod, is that the hierarchy is heavy into anthropocentrism, or man-centered theology which expresses itself in participation at Holy Mass, social justice issues and a move in the direction of syncretism. The good bishop calls this "flirting with the world!" I definitely appreciate Bishop Schneider's holy conviction and candor! He's willing to address the current crisis head-on! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
Eucharistic Adoration is important, but the first step has to be, as Bp Schneider says, a "thorough renewal of the Eucharistic Liturgy", that is the Mass. We have to get the Mass right. We owe it to God to worship Him as He has shown us through the ages. Man cannot be at the center of the Mass, as it is in the NO version. I pray for the restoration of the Catholic Church, and a return to the TLM. Today is the feast of Christ the King. Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat! +
Yes, Bishop Schneider is a true Catholic Bishop. Thank God. Eucharistic Adoration is pivotal. We should not discount its importance in drawing down God’s grace and holy blessing upon a starving Church. We cannot know the directions in which God will work, and those whom He will use.
Yes it is, Sg, but we also know that not everyone enters into it as an act of worship focused on our Sovereign King. However, the call to silence, prayer, and humility at Adoration, means it is the call of Love that draws its adherents. We are in the Garden of Gethsemane with Jesus! May Holy Adoration be the jump start paving the way for a reclaimed and renewed Liturgy! Jesus I trust in You!
Sg, If you haven’t already read In Sinu Jesu, may I suggest it. I have a copy but have not really gone in depth yet. I gave a copy to my pastor. It’s pivotal If you even glance through this book, you will understand why I said what I did. And why I think we can’t go about reforming the Mass from the outside in, but from the inside out. It’s not a plumbing project.
Yes, the two central themes of In Sinu Jesu are Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and prayer for priests, especially lukewarm and wayward priests. We need holy priests because holy priests will become holy bishops and holy bishops will give us an improved liturgy.
The sacrament of the Holy Eucharist at Mass is the ‘source and summit of our faith’. There is nothing better than assisting at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, where, together with the Church Triumphant and Church Suffering, we actually and truly kneel before our Lord and Saviour hanging on the Cross at Calvary. And then after witnessing His death and resurrection, we receive Jesus, body, blood, soul and divinity in the Holy Eucharist. “Unless you eat My flesh and drink My blood, you shall have no life within you.” If one has, say, a half to 1 hour and needs to choose, assisting at Mass always takes precedence over Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. As many times as we assist at Mass in a state of Grace, we receive remission for our venial sins. A single Mass assisted at worthily is worth much more than countless Masses offered up by someone for us after our death. “The Holy Mass is the highest form of worship. It is the sacrifice of Calvary renewed. One Mass gives God more praise and thanksgiving, makes more atonement for sin, and pleads more eloquently than does the combined and eternal worship of all the souls in heaven, on earth, and in purgatory. In the Holy Mass, it is Jesus Christ, God as well as Man, who is our Intercessor, our Priest, and our Victim. Being God – as well as Man ¬His prayers, merits, and His offerings are infinite in value.” "Saint Peter Julian Eymard once said, 'Know, O Christian, that the Mass is the Holiest Act of Religion. You cannot do anything to glorify God more, nor profit your soul more, than by devoutly assisting at it, and assisting as often as possible.'" His Holiness Pope Saint Pius X: “Holy Communion is the shortest, and surest way to Heaven”. +
Nobody is recommending Adoration as an alternative to Mass. Rather, we are saying that increasing the time spent in Adoration (in addition to Mass), praying for our priests and giving our concerns to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament will hasten the purification of the Church, hopefully not through chastisement.
Participation in the Mass paramount. Adoration is important. Some would argue reverting to the Extraordinary form of the Mass is pivotal even when compared to the effect of adoration. Others would argue the Norvus Ordo, when reverently celebrated, is just as valid, licit, and pleasing to Our Lord as the Extraordinary form... If the Oridinary form is just as valid, lisit, and pleasing to Our Lord, then reverting back to the Extraordinary form would not be as pivotal as adoration.
