I know. But worrying about what a possible schism might entail is to me, counterproductive.
    I like prophecy.

    Worry, no.

    Be concerned yes.

Although as the Papal Posse pointed on EWTN; this Pope Francis talk of a Schism is scare stuff. There is no evidence at all whatsoever of a Schism coming. It is a Francis invention.

I love the Papal Posse and Raymond Arroyo

The Five Wise Virgins kept their lamps filled with oil.

The Five Foolish Virgins decided that they would Cross that Bridge when they came to it.

Concern is not to worry. It is to be concerned and prudent, making suitable preparations.

'For ye know not the day or hour'.

I agree, but He will be at that bridge with the Blessed Mother to escort us across if we keep our lamps lit.
No one right now has any inkling of what that schism, if any at all, would look like. I’m on your side and I’ve got your back, Padraig, but I am not borrowing trouble:):coffee:

Yes the moon tonight is spectacular. Very orange but not emitting much light. Quite brooding

I just heard on our news that it is far away tonight.
We are still at evening, but it’s supposed to be cloudy all night.
    Enjoy it!

It is what is going on in the Church that will bring the Wrath of God down upon us, rather than events in the World. The Church is the very Heart of the World.

We are the Salt of the World, but if the Salt looses it's flavour what is it good for? It must be thrown out.

I understood what you meant, Carol, and I'm sorry if my response gave the impression of a Smart Alec drawing attention to some kind of mistake or omission. And yes, I was talking about a possible scenario some time in the future. If such a scenario were possible (I'm not absolutely sure that Heaven wouldn't intervene to prevent it) I think that there would have had to be a lot of incremental "developments of Doctrine" over the course of a few papacies before we reached that stage.

Maybe it's disappointment that more Bishops didn't support the dubia and don't speak out against this "paradigm shift" that has me even imagining such a scenario. Maybe the faithful Bishops don't want to be seen to be stoking division but projecting an image of unity doesn't seem to be high on the agenda of the highly-favoured Germans and some other clerics close to the Pope. There are very many uncomfortable truths in Scripture and Tradition which could be jettisoned because the Apostles didn't have tape recorders or a section of the faithful find them unpalatable.

I'm not sure what Cardinal Burke supposes can be done if a Pope were to come out as a formal heretic. I'm even less sure of what the laity could do. The First See is judged by no-one because, as Peter's successor, the Pope holds the keys and has no peers or superior on earth. Origen believed there to be no distinction between Christ's promise to the Church and Peter, the rock on whom He built His Church. Evidently, the Council which anathematized Honorius 1 didn't agree with Origen. Pope Paul lV believed it was possible that a heretic could become Pope and that nobody owed obedience to such a Pope but I don't believe he was talking about a Pope who fell into heresy after becoming Pope. Anyway, suspicions aren't enough. There would have to be irrefutable evidence that a Pope was a formal heretic and even then, apart from what Taylor Marshall calls resistance, nothing could be done about it during the Pope's lifetime. Formal corrections might be helpful to some future generation but they're not much use in the here and now if a Pope chooses to ignore them.

We could be in for years of dubious footnotes before the barque stops taking on water.

HeavenlyHosts is right to remind us to keep our own lamps lit. Judgement day for any one of us could be today or tomorrow. Having our fears for others confirmed by meeting them in Hell wouldn't be any advantage to us.

Yes, we do have every reason to be positive because we know that the war is already won. I'm not sure, however, that we shouldn't consider what the enemy will throw at us before our struggles are over.

Strange, I went into work early Friday and noticed the moon from inside the building and took a picture of it.

Taylor Marshall and Timothy Godon discuss the letter, the Masonic plan to destroy the Church from the inside, some of the similarities with paganism in the working document for the Amazonian Synod, and the Pope's remark about not being afraid of schism. They believe that some Catholic journalists are under pressure to not report about what's going on. Some of the demonising of the likes of Lifesite, ChurchMilitant and now even Raymond Arroyo does smack of Alynskyite tactics. It's always the messenger who is attacked with no real effort to discuss the message. The tactics are rather similar to the attacks on Cardinal Burke, Archbishop Vigano and now Cardinal Muller is getting the same treatment.

I think perhaps there will be an intervention of Benedict XVI after the Synod to reconcile the schism that occurred. He avoids speaking up today because he cares for the unity of the Church, but when an inevitable division occurs I think he will give some guidance to all Catholics.

I prefer to work out my salvation in prayer and sacrifice, trusting in Lord through the intercession of Mary and her rosary. I am spending as much time as possible in visits to our Eucharistic Lord where there is peace, not fear. I am sure there will come days or moments when fear comes, but I pray it will be a holy fear, as we put our total trust in the Lord's grace under Mary's mantle of love. As for prophets, I thank God he loves us so much he sends us his messengers so that we may know his plan, concern, love and care for us journeying into his era of peace.
