Bishop Barron is so polished and ecumenical. The "all men have a reasonable hope of being saved" is simply not taught in the pages of Scripture. Why do people now need the nicey nice , see everything with rose colored glasses type of Faith? Heck, even talking to people on secular things you have to be careful because you don't want to hurt people's delicate sensibilities. Not me boy. I want the cold hard facts! I like sugary sweet stuff too and I like people to be soft spoken and calm and reassuring as much as the next person. But honestly, when the rubber meets the road, tell me the facts. No BS and no sugar coating. It may hurt but at least I know where I stand. I like some of Bishop Barron's media stuff. He is talented but he preaches a "squishy" Jesus and salvation.
The Bible is full of references to Hell, damnation, the lake of fire, etc. That’s enough for me. If you consider also the saints who have seen Hell and damned souls in it, that is more persuasive. Right off the top of my head: St Jacinta, St Francisco, St Catherine of Siena, St Faustina.
What’s up with anyone thinking that there are no souls in Hell? I can’t believe that. That’s delusional thinking imho.
I am dipping the scariest most old fashioned book ever at the moment on hell which provides accounts of souls coming back from hell as apparitions to testify to what it is like and the most horrific stories of death beds were the dying seem to have been carried away by demons. I was always fascinated by such stories since I was a child. You can read it online here. https://www.ecatholic2000.com/hell/hell.shtml
The scariest story I found was relatively modern and concerned two young girls who worked together in an office in Germany. Both Catholics, one devout one fallen away from her Faith. The APostate one died and came back, sent from God, to Testify to the reality of hell to the other. Terrifying. I believe every word of it. I must see if I can find this story and post it. Ahh here it is! Don't read this before going to bed at night; you'll not sleep a wink!! This story is quite famous. Sometimes people print it off and give it out round Churches. http://www.drbo.org/annette.htm The Story of Annette, a Soul in Hell
I am just curious. If you were Pope and believed a Cardinal. A famous Theologian was a Heretic and preaching heresy, what would you do about it? If you were going to take his hat, excommunicate him , how would you go about doing this? I mean would you subject him to scrutiny and a trial of would you do it yourself and kick his ass right out? Just curious.
The poor man would probably find it embarrassing. If he did not listen to Our Lady of Fatima he certainly would not listen to this. Our Lady of Fatima when she spoke directly of many souls falling into hell was probably not up to date with the latest.' Doctrinal Developments'. Bishop Barron and Cardinal Urs Von Balthasar are though. I'm sure when they get to heaven with their great learning will set her straight and get her all up to date with modern intellectual thought. .
It is scary but we need these reminders. The urgency of the Rosary prayer Ouf Lady gave us at Fatima is needed now more than ever.
So sad to have to even be having this conversation. How far off the narrow way we can go...a few inches becomes a few feet becomes a mile...and we are suddenly on a broad highway. Utterly terrifying.
Although Bishop Barron surprises me, he speands an hour a day in front of the Blessed Scarament, you would think this would keep him safe.
I believe this nonsense proposed by Bishop Barron is part of the great diabolical deception of our times. Only those who are in a state of grace on death are saved. Do these Bishops really believe that everyone in our world is in a state of grace? That is why murders, fornicators, abortionists, terrorists, perverts will not inherit the kingdom of God for they have chosen darkness over light. They are literally disgraced. In a state of mortal sin until they repent so if they die in spiritual darkness the consequences are eternal. In choosing evil they choose their own eternal fate in damnation. God is merciful and forgiving but He also respects our free will so if we choose to live in darkness he cannot force us to come into the light.
Another aspect of this that Bishop Barron needs to reflect on is not just that God is Merciful but that God is Holy. God's Holiness is difficult for the human mind to process and understand -- but it is a perfect interior holiness -- pure Holiness, Light and Love. “Strive…for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14) How can a soul in the state of mortal sin enter the presence of the Lord? It is impossible. Rather it would prefer to plunge itself into Hell than into the presence of Holiness of the Living God.
https://mysticpost.com/2019/08/medjugorje-august-1-2019-too-many-souls-will-go-to-hell-by-choice/ Medjugorje: August 1, 2019…”Too many souls will go to Hell by choice!” Father Livio Fanzaga, of Radio Maria, offers us some important reflections on the phenomenon of the many apparitions of the Queen of Peace in Medjugorje. “As already in Fatima, Our Lady said that today many souls go to hell”. Father Livio reiterates this, as the world often forgets that: “The central message of Medjugorje is that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that heaven is the goal to which we must strive with all our strength. At the center is the love of God. But Our Lady speaks to a world that to a large extent rejects God and therefore opens the perspective to Hell. One of his recurring phrases is that: “Hell is filled with people who choose to go there”. The catechism speaks of self-exclusion“ Father Livio: we can still choose not to lose ourselves Everyone chooses to perform some actions, rather than others, for this reason, deliberately, he goes to heaven or to eternal damnation . We constantly have among ourselves the Queen of Peace who calls us to faith, but often we do not listen to her messages, we do not allow her invitation to a total change of course to penetrate our hearts. “There is no doubt that, as it has not done in any other apparition, in Medjugorje , it gives regular messages that are a real form of evangelization. A maternal evangelization, simple but very profound and very Catholic, that is, absolutely in conformity with sound doctrine ”. The hope of going to Heaven is real, like the possibility of recognizing ourselves in need of learning to love, so as not to be excluded, or rather, not to exclude ourselves, from the saving project of Christ. He has been hanging on the cross for more than 2000 years and, while he cries out to the world his sorrow for the suffering unjustly suffered , he pours his immense grace upon each of us, repeating to us that it is enough to look up at him to understand what to do with our earthly life.
It occurred to me this morning that Truth is born of Purity; most of these men are probably impure and incapable of forming true thoughts. This doesn't just apply to theological concepts, but to their everyday decisions as well. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" - Isaiah 5:20 It's insane to think that hell is empty.
It reminds me of the , 'Hard '. Teachings of Jesus on matters such as Divorce and the Eucharist. As soon as Jesus spoke on these matters people fled Him like snow off a ditch. Jesus said that we must remain , 'Salted'. It is the hard Teachings that help us remain salted. Otherwise we wind up like a cup of coffee with a ton of sugar in it. The Teaching of the Church on Hell is like that. Deeply salty. So people flee from it.
