Frank, So, you are saying that we have to make two assumptions. The first one is that the Three Days of Darkness occurs before the period of peace and it will be literal. This is possible but let's say I'm a protestant what about this event is going to convince me to convert to Catholicism? I guess that you are saying that people will become informed about the prophecy of the Three Days of Darkness and then they will convert because it came to fruition. I don't believe that this would be enough because there are too many different interpretations of this prophecy and too many conflicting prophecies also. Unless you think that because of the Three Days of Darkness most of the enemies of the Church will die but this wouldn't be a conversion like that foretold by Saint Hidlegrad, a Doctor of the Church, along with many others. I look at the Miracle of the Sun and I wonder how many conversions occurred because of the fruition of this prophecy, I don't believe that there were very many. In regard, to World War II I think that people were far more religious in the 1940's than they are now and it still did not cause mass conversions to Catholicism. I am not at all trying to convince you of the authenticity of Our Lady of Garabandal but it makes sense to me that this apparition could be the factor that converts many people to Catholicism. It is a prophecy that was foretold in the early 60's in a town which was 100% Catholic at that time and God will leave a permanent sign there at the time of the Miracle to convince as many people as possible. Maybe God has some other plan that we don't know about but I don't think that people would be convinced to convert from the prophecies of Blessed Emmerich or Saint Bosco. As I stated, Medjugore is another possibility if the prophecy of a permanent sign occurs there also. I am not 100% convinced of it's authenticity at this time, I am simply uncertain. I think that any place where Our Lady has appeared is a possibility to help with conversion if God chooses to use those locations like Lourdes, Fatima, etc. but I do think that it helps that something was foretold in advance of it's occurrence because humankind always seems to find a way to explain away miracles in one way or another. I am only offering these ideas for reflection and I absolutely respect everyone's opinion on unapproved or even approved prophecies. I realize that there is a lot of confusion about Garabandal, this is true of many apparitions but I think that there are so many reasons to believe in this apparition one of the most convincing things is that Joey Lomangino died on June 18th the anniversary of the 2nd message of Our Lady there. Although, I do often wonder if the Warning will not be exactly as the seers have stated. Well, time will tell but I hope that we can continue this discussion and that others will join in also. One message of Our Lady through Father Gobbi says, “…the reunion of all Christians in the Catholic Church will coincide with the triumph of my Immaculate Heart in the world. If people listen to this invitation, the graces of the Lord and His unending mercy towards the church will let the Rosa Mystica blossom again. Yes, that will happen… But the most obvious miracle will be the return to the true faith, to the true love of the Lord. Then will follow: the reunion in faith of the different churches and peace for the whole world.” Father Gobbi was given words for the United States of America in a locution entitled Your Light Will Return when he visited the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. May 17, 1987. Our Lady told him, “The times of your suffering are now counted. Soon you will flower again, when my Immaculate Heart will have its triumph, and your light will return to shine with such intensity that it will draw all those who live in this great continent.” The final message given to Father Gobbi on December 31, 1997 says, in part, “…In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. This will come about in the greatest triumph of Jesus, who will bring into the world his glorious reign of love, of justice and of peace, and will make all things new. Open your hearts to hope. Throw open the doors to Christ who comes to you in glory. Live the trembling hour of this second Advent.” Mirjana Soldo is the person whose mission is to pray for 'unbelievers' As far back as 2011 or earlier, she started telling in interviews that there will be an upheaval of sorts and then everything will be put back in place better than before. She likened what would happen to someone doing spring cleaning. They move all the furniture and it looks terribly out of place and then every thing will be cleaned and put back in a very pleasing, orderly. arrangement. A very early book about Medjugorje written in English was a collaboration between Father Laurentin, a noted scholar of Marian apparitions and a Croatian theologian named Father Ljudevit Rupcic (both deceased). The book was published in 1984 and within it, are the answers the 6 young visionaries gave to a series of questions that were put to them about their apparitions. Although it doesn't say, I am assuming each person was interviewed separately and the interviews took place before December 1982 as the apparitions had been going on for 18 months. It has to do as well with the sign, humanity in general, and each person. The secrets speak of the Church in general. There are some which concern us. Ivanka: Yes. I have seven. Some concern us personally, others, the Church and the world. Mirjana: Nine secrets were confided to me. They have to do with us ourselves, the sign, the whole world, and also Medjugorje. Ivan: Yes.
There is a Grotto near my home and sometimes I light candles (it is in the Church grounds). They are good candles and last about 8 hours. I love to think that they attract people to the spot like moths to a light. Anyway I enjoy doing it. It is a very little thing but gives me a lot of pleasure.
Oh Frank this explains everything!! I knew our Mother had to be involved in some key way. She is never outdone in generosity. Of course this is what happened. She who is full of grace began to shower out of the storehouse of grace in her Immaculate Heart all the Graces necessary to lead you to her Son and to the Church. Aporopo to this discussion--especially on the third secret of Fatima video--this morning I got up and picked up my phone to go downstairs. In a loud volume the man on the video began to speak on the 3rd secret. My husband is not a believer and I was aghast that this was loud and clear. I COULDNT SHUT IT OFF. And I had no app or site open. I still had the security code. I opened into my phone and searched but there was NO link anywhere. And yet he kept talking. Finally I turned my phone completely off and that broke the mysterious link wherever it was. (I never found it) my husband said " what was that?" And I told him. He started humming twilight zone music. I mean try it was strange.
They now make beautiful votive candles that use batteries and are safe from causing fires. I use them. Mine have pictures of Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and there are some with saints.
St Teresa of Avila said the way you know a true grace is when it impresses yourself on your heart. When you remember it for a long time. I think its a bit like someone knocking your front door. The first time you might think you imagined it, but if the knocking continues you know for sure someone's there. Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. Also in Revelation chapter 11. The Temple is the Catholic Church it is the second Temple of God. Those who do not return, or become Catholic will be trampled over. The first 3 countries to convert back to Catholicism will be Russia, Germany and England. Those were the first 3 that separated from the church. If you study the Book of Daniel chapter 9 the 70 weeks, and if you subtract 7 x 69 = 483 years. From 2017 - 483 = 1,564. That is the year England broke from Catholicism and became Anglican and Germany built their second Lutheran Church. I share your view of unapproved apparitions and for much the same reasons. Thank you for your summary of Emmerich's and Don Bosco's visions. It's a light in these darkening times when we are called more than ever to be prepared to give reason for the hope within us. I thank God for converts like you.
Carol: Excuse me for cutting into your interchange with Frank, but I just wanted to make some points: 1. The miracle of the sun strengthened the faithful in Portugal when that country had a very anti-Catholic Masonic government, and it served to make the Church authorities sit up and take notice rather than dismissing the children as ignorant, superstitious peasants or liars. 2. Don't forget the Holy Spirit's role in conversions to the Faith. While I don't want to get into a debate about Garabandal, the fact that Joey died without regaining his eyesight serves more to prove that it wasn't Our Lady who appeared there, irrespective of the date of Joey's death.
