Nothing is new under the sun. True prophets have always been lied about, scorned and one nailed to the cross for ours sins as well.

Name me any prophet who is not scorned, belittled and lied about. My point being, does not scripture tell us no prophet is accepted in there own country?

Yes, there were lawsuits against her for similar situations. They were settled in favor of the donors, but they had to sign confidentiality agreements not to discuss the terms.

After mass this morning I asked one of the wives of the couples that went with us to Ohio to hear Christine Gallagher to refresh my memory about the days events in Ohio with CG.
Since my memory of what we were told that day had faded, she not only confirmed my recollection that if we didn’t contribute that something bad would happen...but, we were told that if we didn’t have the money, we could mortgage our homes! No wonder we all left not trusting her. it was rediculous!

Then we come to find out that she is living high off the hog! No, this woman is a scam artist...using faith as her ploy.
    No thanks....

Please read my recent post on her Fatima This woman is a major scam artist. Many have been taken in by her...she is unworthy of your trust.

We met her..we heard her...first hand knowledge...no lies here. Sincerely.

Charlie Johnston fooled a lot of folks too. He seem very nice and trustworthy. As it turned out, he was no more of a prophet than you or I...but people made life altering decisions based on his predictions.

We will have to disagree on this one. For now I will continue to assess, but some of her proohecy, like the collapse of the twin towers in NYC that fell, two years from the exact date she received a message that they would fall.

I have read all the false accusations against Garabandal and Medjugorje as well, yet I believe both are from God. Yet I don't pin my faith on any of them. They all seem credible messengers to me that will either stand or fall on their own. And I surely would not sell my house on any of them as some have claimed to have done.

Just to clarify- my comment was for Christina Gallagher House of Prayer. I think there were houses in the States and this lady may have lost her home.i know the family was upset.

I understand Fatima. I just wanted to relay my experience with you. I’m sure as a person of great faith, you and I might just disagree on this, but mean the best for one another.

And the fact that believing it or not does not affect our salvation. Aside from not liking parts of her, is there any prophecy that she speaks to that you do not agree with?

For goodness sake, Fatima, will you get a grip!! Nobody is nailing Christina Gallagher to the cross. She lives very comfortably and can afford to buy mansions with no visible means of support other than donations from people who would be better advised either keeping their money or giving it to the missions. Comparing her with true martyrs for the faith is an insult to the martyrs.

    Thanks for the reminder, Quis..
But if you read back thru my text I was comparing my visit to Christina Gallagher's 'House of Prayer' with my visit to Knock.
And I was merely pointing out that I was disappointed that no one in the House of Prayer would speak of the apparitions; but the same was true of Knock - though you are very right. There is the museum and the rest.
On the other hand, I was trying to highlight the fact that there were similarities in both visits - and perhaps I shouldn't have been disappointed that no one spoke of the apparitions in the house of prayer bcoz no one spoke to us about the apparitions at Knock.

I was (probably very poorly) trying to express my disappointment that perhaps the House of Prayer visit should have some kind of facility whereby the actual visions/messages are explained bcoz they are contemporary (and everyone already knows about Knock).
Reflecting upon it now, it was nearly as if they were ashamed of the visions/messages at the house of prayer.
I don't know why the apparitions aren't discussed openly with visitor's. Perhaps they've taken a pummeling from the press.. who knows.

Fatima, I didn’t know much about her except that a close friend was writing back and forth with her years prior to visiting her house of prayer in Ohio. It’s why we went to begin with.
We all went to hear her and discern. I believe we were there for over a hour. She spoke from a podium. This strange handeler of hers was walking up and down the aisles of this church? Prayer room? Like he was a secret service agent..as if any of us middle aged couples were going to converge on her? It was plain out weird.

Heck, we weren’t even sure it was her talking from the podium until half way through. She didn’t initially even introduce herself. I guess she just expected that we would automatically recognize her? After her talk, we looked at each other and said...” was that Christine Gallagher “? Then someone there confirmed it. It wasn’t a big ordeal...just a talk and that was it. All of us were very weirded out. Nothing she said faith wise was questionable...just the issue regarding donating money. We actually laughed about it. As I said, we were headed for our van to leave and one of the men went back to make a donation on behalf of our group. He said, “Hey, better safe than sorry “...His wife just confirmed that with me this morning.

Because we all left feeling she was just looking for cash, I had zero desire, based on that personal encounter, of looking into ANYTHING she had prophesied.

This woman has a number of extremely expensive homes... where do you think the money is coming from. She was sued for taking folks money and lost.

There is way too much questionable behavior about her that just reeks fraud.

Maybe...maybe...in the beginning she might have been legit, but from my personal wittness....I don’t see it.

That’s just my personal take.....and from what I read, plenty others feel the same.

As I said, Charlie Johnston had a big following....and he was a big fraud.

To answer your question....no, I have never read her prophecies and I would never waste my time after meeting her. When money becomes your business, you lose me.

Just to clarify: I didnt expect anyone at Knock to speak of the apparitions.. they are well known and there is information everywhere on-site.
But the same is not true of the House of Prayer. I would have liked to heard about the apparitions during our visit.
Im getting into a whole muddle with this one...

jackzokay...you’re not in any muddle here....no worries!

This is just a discussion of different opinions. Yours are as valid as anyone’s.
Sometimes we agree on people, issues and politics and sometimes we disagree.

We can all learn something...we just need to be respectful in disagreements.
We are all Gods children ...looking for the truth...with good intentions.

We are not perfect and sometimes we fall short...but I think most of us make a honest effort to be sincere.

If I’ve ever spoke out of turn to anyone on this form, I humbly ask for forgiveness.

Are you seriously comparing Christina Gallagher with Our Lord Jesus Christ?

Jesus was not a prophet but the son of God never to be compared to any prophet or saint even.

I used to read christina's messages years ago and even recieved mail from her organization. What i didnt like was the constant push to buy her volume of books. Constant mail asking for donations. Another thing that really bothers me and i just read this on her site, was a reminder to wear the brown scapular and the matrix medal. The miraculous medal was created for these times especially. For our protection. Why no mention of the miraculous medal which is what is needed and is indeed miraculous. If it were truly our Blessed Mother why no mention of the miraculous medal. My opinion

Yes, I am seriously saying that all prophets, even God's own son, were dismissed by those whom they spoke God's word to. They were all lied about. I am not absolutely sure Christina is a true prophet, just as you are not absolutely sure she is not. Its your opinion is all. What I do know from scripture is a dire warning "do not despise prophesy", which many are quick to do. In her defense I have asked all those who despise her if she has spoken anything contrary to church teaching or scripture and no one has come forward. So the naysayers seem to despise her for other reasons. I am open to hear and listen to those who have been given positive review they have experienced in her mission. I only listened to her one weekend. I was very impressed by her long time companion and spiritual director Father McGinnity. Very holy mass and very prayerful priest I witnessed.

Okay, I guess the church is wrong to acknowledge Jesus was prophet, priest and king
