Cosmic background radiation gives the earth a geocentric position in the Universe. To say that the earth is at the centre of the Universe is a valid hypothesis. Not one child will learn this in school!! Oh by the way this also disproves the Big Bang theory.
This is an interesting thread so please keep it alive and going. I am not a scientist but find these things fascinating.
The so called axis where all other galaxies seemingly align with the earth was given the name: "the axis of evil" because it went against all previously accepted scientific and cosmological theories of Copernican cosmological model. Isn't it interesting that scientists called this the 'axis of evil' -- because most scientists are agnostics or atheists - they were dumbstruck when the Planck satellite data confirmed that the earth was not some random object in space but at the centre of the Universe.
I believe God wants us to use our reason as as well as our faith. He has given His creation natural laws that serve Him and us, in this way science serves mankind by affirming Gods Holy words in scripture as you pointed out Praetorian. Pray4peace, you are exactly right. Thank you for stepping in. Praetorian, I disagree with you sometimes about science and the Earth, but I know your intentions were not to hurt but to inform. Right now I hold to the 6,000 year old Earth and geocentrism. It’s not what you believe but in the end, it has enhanced my Faith. No harm done. I understand how you must feel about your nephew and I’m sorry. Also, the condescending attitude was mostly on other threads and not from you.
So true. And count on Fake News to keep rehashing false articles on the shroud. I expect on some level its authenticity terrifies them. If it is true then.... They don't dare to take the next step.
As I read through this thread I am reminded of CS Lewis's comment that when the scientists finally reach the top of the mountain of knowledge they will find the theologians waiting for them.

Praetorian, I'm not upset with you at all. I simply believe that evolution is viewed as a law rather than a theory. Any credible scientist who would stick out his neck and goes against this tide risks his career. That is a travesty because in my mind, evolution remains simply a theory. My son, Fr. Benjamin, enjoys dueling with me on this subject; he leans toward evolution, while I lean toward catastraphism. Safe in Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!

Almost 1 hour 30 mins but well worth it! “But when you look at CMB map, you also see that the structure that is observed, is in fact, in a weird way, correlated with the plane of the earth around the sun. Is this Copernicus coming back to haunt us? That's crazy. We're looking out at the whole universe. There's no way there should be a correlation of structure with our motion of the earth around the sun - the plane of the earth around the sun - the ecliptic. I think that the Bible gives us informational timelines and generational information which fit Earth as 6000 years old. I am beginning to learn how the Old Testament events took place over roughly 4000 years. Of course not everyone agrees with this. But if we accept the Bible as God’s Word and as Truth, then this fits.
I've decided to bring up certain issues periodically that demonstrate weak links within the evolutionary science theory. The geological column as championed by Lyell, Darwin, and others, depicts the ordered formation of the various 13 layers of sedimentary rock. Generally speaking, the lower the strata, the more primitive is the fossil record contained therein. The Cambrian strata is near the bottom of the traditional evolutionary model and is usually dated 570-500 million years ago, while the next most recent strata is named Ordovician (500-435 million years ago). These huge numbers are hypothetical and are used to emphasize the very long process of evolution. In the early 1900s, paleontologist, Charles Walcott, discovered many thousands of fossils in the Cambrian rock layer, some of which were animal fossils. Thousands of these animal fossils were too complex to fit into the macro-evolutionist model of extremely slow development. Walcott chose not to promote this discovery and his work did not come to light until the 1980s. It is based on his studies that the term Cambrian Explosion came into vogue. Not only does Walcott's data reveal no "missing links" between the many animal fossils found, but the broad range of animal phyla should not all exist in such a theoretically ancient strata of rock. In his 1996 book, The Blind Watchmaker (pg. 229-230), renowned scientist, Richard Dawkins, has this to say about the Cambrian Explosion: "It is though they [fossils] were just planted there without any evolutionary history. Needless to say, this appearance of sudden planting has delighted creationists...Both schools of [evolutionary] thought (Punctuationists and Gradualists) despise so-called scientific creationists equally and both agree that the major gaps are real, that they are true imperfections in the fossil record. The only alternative explanation of the sudden appearance of so many complex animal types in the Cambrian era is divine creation and (we) reject this alternative."
