But isn't it sad that our Protestant sisters and Brothers see things so clearly while our own Church Leadership are selling us down the river on issues like this? They would regard this family as , at best, 'red necks', 'Bigots', 'Pharisees' and so on. No surprise there when so many of them are openly sexual perverts themselves.
There is so much in what you say, Padraig. Church leadership in this country is so limp. Even decent priests who are not ultra-liberal like the ACP lot often seem to lack zeal or just go with the flow far too easily. And I, too, am impressed by the firmness of many of these Protestant Christians we have in the North. I find myself thinking of the strange fact - that appalls me really - that there are no kneelers in the remodelled Knock basilica. It symbolises to my mind this limpness, just "going with the flow" ...

Thank you for this, Carol55. I am hoping to post more - I find myself thinking a lot of this forum, particularly after speaking at a recent Legion of Mary conference that deeply touched me. I don't know how many people here are Legionaries, but my perhaps too superficial impression is that there is a certain convergence of the spirituality of the Legion and this forum. And I am feeling touched by both and also how both can help Ireland in these dark times.
Maybe God is telling us that the time for comfortable kneelers is over. From now on we had best get right down on the hard floor.
