I remember when that happened, still convinced that PF was a good man, and convincing myself that he was bewildered by the presentation. Of course, when one thinks about it, none of these things are ever spontaneous and he would have been well aware of what he was about to be presented. Not to mention the oceans of water under the bridge since.

I was wrong. I looked this up. Pope Leo XIII had just finished saying Mass and he stopped still at the foot of the altar. His face turned ashen white. He heard the conversation between the Lord and the devil, with the devil asking for permission to destroy the Church in 75-100 years. The Lord granted the permission. Pope Leo stood there for awhile, then left. He composed the St. Michael prayers after that. It was Pope John the XXIII who was alleged to have fainted after reading the
    Third Secret of Fatima.
    Apologies.

Not certain why no one is saying it out aloud here :cautious:.

According to Ann Barnhardt, PF said that the stang: 'was a “gift” from “young people” who SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED that he use it in the opening Mass of the Sodo-synod. That story right there by itself is DAMN PECULIAR.'

A Stang is a witch/warlock’s ceremonial staff. It is always forked, and always has an iron nail driven through it. Ideally it has a human form carved or integrated into it somehow. The Stang signifies several things, the first being a satan himself. Read the quote below from a witchcraft blog:

“Gary describes the Stang as primarily a symbolic tool rather than a working one, and as such it stands in for the Devil himself, holding his power and his dual nature. The Devil and the Stang is often less about strict duality and more about the transgressing of boundaries, The Devil being a spirit I often think of as non-binary and difficult to define in terms of absolutes.”

What Japan Teaches about the Invincibility of the Faith

Image: Motomachi Catholic Church, Hakodate, Japan. Via 663highand, Wikimedia Commons.

Whatever qualifies as a “Christian country” these days, Japan would not likely be seen as one in anyone’s mind. Only 1% of the Japanese population, split evenly between Catholics and Protestants along with small pockets of Eastern Orthodoxy, claim to be believers in Christ. Yet the fact that Christ is worshiped here by anyone at all, however few, is testimony to the invincibility of the Church, which is guaranteed by Christ Himself.

Now 51, I came to Japan in my late twenties, at a time when I was not practicing the Catholic faith in which I had been raised as a child. I had several motives for coming here: to teach English for a living after having done it as a volunteer in America, to travel and see the world, to do something new and leave the low-paying dead-end job I had at home. To be honest, there was the prospect of meeting Japanese women – many of whom I’d heard had a liking for Western men.

Returning to the Catholic faith was the farthest thing from my mind at that time. A traditionally Buddhist – in reality, a predominantly secular – country would hardly be a likely setting for a fallen-away Catholic to return to the Barque of Peter.

But nothing is impossible with God – and while my return to the faith may have seemed unlikely to occur in the Land of the Rising Sun, the faith’s existence in this land is even more logically nonsensical. But here it is.

First brought here by Portuguese Jesuit missionaries in the mid-1500s, Catholicism spread in Japan at a pretty good rate – at first. By the end of that century, though, it had been banned, and the faithful were heavily persecuted. Missionaries from abroad were killed or expelled, and by the mid-1600s there were no priests left in the country. Japan had closed itself off completely from the rest of the world – no foreigners at all, clergy or otherwise, would be allowed into the country for over 200 years.

Against this backdrop, Christianity in Japan should have disappeared, but God’s will was for it to be kept going. That’s where Japan’s “Hidden Christians” come in.

For over two centuries, these Christians practiced their faith in secret despite having no priests or bishops. By the grace of God, they made due – performing baptisms, handing down Scripture and Sacred Tradition orally. They engaged in creative trickery to help keep the faith alive, disguising Catholic images as Buddhist and singing prayers and hymns like Buddhist chants. Even the authorities’ attempts to force them to renounce Christianity were turned into occasions of secret worship – fumi-e, in which the Japanese were forced to stomp on images of Christ or the Virgin Mary, became for Christians a hidden celebration of the Lord’s suffering and mercy.

By the 1860s, Japan had been forced to reopen by Western powers, soon leading to freedom of religion. Before long, Catholic priests (mainly from France) began arriving. Assuming that Christianity had been stamped out in Japan and that they would need to engage in start-from-scratch proselytizing, these newly arrived priests were surprised to find a startling number of believers.

A two-century lack of clergy had taken its toll: the faith of many of the Hidden Christians had (inevitably, perhaps) mixed with Buddhist and Shinto traditions, from which emerged a Christianity in many ways differing from orthodox Catholicism. In time, though, a great many of the Japanese believers were catechized in the authentic faith and came to accept it.

In short, the survival of the Church in Japan was remarkable. If Christ’s promise that nothing will prevail against it needed any proof, its presence in Japan is it.

Japan seems to be one of the last places where a fallen-away Catholic like me would return to the Church. But given that by all rational accounts, Catholicism should have vanished from Japan long ago and yet is still here, it’s quite fitting that this is where my faith returned and is now stronger than ever.

Today, though very much a minority religion, Catholicism’s presence in Japan is quite noticeable. Every major city has numerous Catholic churches, and even smaller cities and towns usually have at least one. There are four Catholic churches in Hakodate, where I live along with my wife, a Japanese convert to the faith. Rich in history, this northern Japanese city features an eclectic blend of local and foreign influences. Besides the four churches, there is a Trappist monastery as well as a Trappistine convent, whose cookies are well known throughout Japan as travel souvenirs.

At the base of the city’s 1,000-foot-high mountain, the top of which offers one of the best night views in the world, are three beautiful historical churches within a short walk of each other – one Anglican, one Russian Orthodox, and Motomachi Roman Catholic Church, built shortly after Christianity came out of hiding about 140 years ago. Most who set foot inside Motomachi Church are tourists, but it has a full house of worshipers every Sunday as well.

Catholicism has made a particular mark in Japan on education. Many parishes operate their own preschools, and Catholic secondary schools and universities are fairly numerous and renowned. Here in Hakodate there is LaSalle, a respected combined junior high and high school. Several members of the faculty, including the principal, are Christian brothers.

What lessons can Catholics in the West take away from the history and current situation of Catholicism in Japan?

For one thing, both my own reversion to the faith in Japan and the faith’s survival here tangibly illustrate that all things are possible with God. There are no limits to His grace and power.

Japanese Christianity also shows us that no trial, however unbearable or fatal it may seem, can bring down the Catholic Church. There are distressing Church-related stories in the U.S. news seemingly every day. Sexual scandals, liturgical abuses, dwindling Mass attendance, a dearth of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, a decline in the quality of authentic Catholic education, the dissidence of many clergy and religious – all of this may tempt a Catholic into wondering how the Church will survive.

But the faith’s presence in Japan and (in its own small way) my own return to the faith while living here are reminders that nothing will destroy Christ’s Church, no matter how badly human beings treat it.

Catholicism’s history in Japan also reinforces that the laity must be, and will be, the main driving force behind the renewal and re-strengthening of the faith in modern times – just as Japan’s Hidden Christians, all laypeople, kept the faith alive and resisted all efforts to stamp it out.

The faith and courage of the Hidden Christians made it possible for those in Japan today, including my wife, to say “yes” to Christ and His Church. They stepped up to the plate and kept Catholicism from dying in Japan despite having no priests at all. Can their example and legacy, when reflected on deeply, possibly fail to inspire faithful lay Catholics in restoring authentic Catholicism and combatting heterodoxy (clerical and otherwise) in our own time?

Please pray for today’s Japanese Catholics – as well as for the Japanese people in general. In my two decades here I have on innumerable occasions experienced their kindness, patience, humility, modesty, and industriousness. My wife and I have often said to each other that the Japanese as a group, if baptized, would be among the best Christians in the world. May they be guided to Christ by the Holy Spirit, and may those of us living the faith here be worthy instruments in His work.

In case people think I was exagerrating the dangers of summoning the devil by the use of sacriligeous prayer in summoning the devil, here is a report from a theologian who is thinking along the same lines.

If you use the entire Church to pray to st Michael the arcangel to assist in a cover up and to prop up blant lies and worng doing, it is opening a real Pandora's box. Prophesy cleary indicates that false signs , miracles and wonders, icluding apparently raising the dead will be performed in the CHurch, I suspect thsi of being a pathway to this in summoning the devil through sacriligeous prayer: In other words this is a form of black magic.

    Thessalonians 2:9

that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,

    Revelation 16:14

for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.

    Deuteronomy 13:1-2
"If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,'

    Matthew 24:24

"For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

s Pope Francis's Use of the Rosary "Sacrilegious"?

    By James Larson

Pope Francis And the Sacrilegious Use of the Rosary

It has been integral to the vision which inspired the Rosary to the Interior: For the Purification of the Church that the entire Church is in need of purification, and that the most visible aspects of the current crisis of the Church are like cancerous excrescences on the surface of the body, which point to a much deeper malady within. We see this sickness as stemming from two primary sources: the surrender of the intellectual foundations of our Faith (theology and philosophy) to reductive science; and, secondly, to our having nourished an adulterous relationship with this world which tends towards making us an “enemy of God” (James 4:4) and therefore fully deserving of God’s chastisement. In our prayer for the Church’s purification we have chosen therefore not to focus on obvious evils such as the Cardinal McCarrick scandal. We do not believe that any investigation into this scandal (although necessary), or any amount of “getting rid of bad bishops” (including the Pope), will solve the present crisis. This is why we seek Our Lady’s help in reaching to the depths of what is in need of purification within each one of us. As Simeon foretold to Mary “And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.” (Luke 2: 35).

However, absolutely necessary for the integrity of our effort is that the Rosary itself be prayed with intentions which are in accord with the truths of Jesus Christ. The Rosary, being a sacramental, is subject to sacrilegious use. And this is precisely what is now being promoted by Pope Francis.

On September 29, 2018, the Press Office of the Holy See issued a Communiqué in which Pope Francis invited all the faithful during the Marian month of October to pray the Rosary, the Leonine prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, and the prayer Sub Tuum Praesidium to protect the Church from the devil, “who always seek to separate us from God and from each other.” Twice in this communiqué, we are asked to offer these prayers “against the Great Accuser who ‘goes around the world seeking to accuse”.

Pope Francis’ choice of the title “the Great Accuser” for the Devil is not random. It has evolved out of the catastrophic events which have occurred over a period ranging from the last part of August to the end of September, and has a very specific meaning and intention attached to it. We will here briefly describe these events:

On August 22, 2018, former Papal Nuncio to the United States Archbishop Viganò issued an eleven page “Testimony” accusing Pope Francis not only of covering up the McCarrick scandal, but of promoting McCarrick’s status in the Vatican and making him his trusted advisor. He also documented a “cabal” of higher members of the American hierarchy who bypassed the Papal Nuncio in order to recommend bishops friendly to Pope Francis and his “gay-inclusive” agenda. Since that date much of what was in Archbishop Vigano’s Testimony has been corroborated, and there are many bishops who have now called for a full investigation. In addition, there have come to light other instances of Francis’ protecting abusers while he has been Pope, and his defense of a serial abuser (and persecution of his victims) while Archbishop of Buenos Aires. When asked about these accusations, Pope Francis replied, “I will not say a single word about this”, and he has retained this position to this day. At the very least, these accusations demand a thorough and complete investigation.

But Pope Francis, while refusing to answer these accusations, has not remained silent. Beginning on September 11, he began a series of thinly veiled attacks on Archbishop Vigano (without specifically naming him), and others who are demanding a full investigation into these allegations, by equating their efforts with the work of the Devil – the “Great Accuser”.

On September 11, Pope Francis said, “in these times, it seems like the ‘Great Accuser’ has been unchained and is attacking bishops. True we are all sinners, we bishops. He tries to uncover the sins, so they are visible in order to scandalize the people. The ‘Great Accuser’, as he himself says to God in the first chapter of the Book of Job, ‘roams the earth looking for someone to accuse.’”

On September 13, he said: “Only the merciful are like God the Father. ‘Be merciful, as your Father is merciful.’ This is the path, the path that goes against the spirit of the world, that thinks differently, that does not accuse others. Because among us is the ‘Great Accuser,’ the one who is always going about to accuse us before God, to destroy. Satan: he is the ‘Great Accuser.’ And when I enter into this logic of accusing, of cursing, seeking to do evil to others, I enter into the logic of the ‘Great Accuser’ who is the ‘Destroyer,’ who does not know the word mercy, does not know, has never lived it.”

On September 14, he said: “Our victory is the cross of Jesus, victory over our enemy, the ancient serpent, the Great Accuser.… And the ancient serpent that was destroyed still barks, still threatens but, as the Fathers of the Church say, he is a chained dog: do not approach him and he will not bite you; but if you try to caress him because you attracted to him as if he were a puppy, prepare yourself, he will destroy you.”

On September 18, the Vatican News service offered the following summation from Pope Francis’ homily:

“The Pope brought up that it was also the people who yelled ‘crucify him’. Jesus then compassionately remained silent because ‘the people were deceived by the powerful’, Pope Francis explained. His response was silence and prayer. Here the shepherd chooses silence when the ‘Great Accuser’ accuses him ‘through so many people’. Jesus ‘suffers, offers his life, and prays’, Pope Francis said.”It is clear from all of this that Pope Francis has cast himself in the role of Christ who is silent before the “Great Accuser.” This is in itself blasphemous. Christ’s silence did not mask involvement in sexual abuse and its cover-up. He did not attack those who sought honest answers in regard to such heinous sins, nor did He claim that they were doing the work of the “Great Accuser”. He did not deny justice to the innocent who have been horrendously violated by such sins. Pope Francis’ “silence” in the face of what appear to be justified accusations is not therefore the silence of Christ in the face of the Great Accuser. It is rather the silence promoted by Satan in service to the Father of Lies.

To commit the sin of sacrilege is to “desecrate or steal a sacred person, place, or thing”. The Rosary is a sacramental (and the St. Michael the Angel Prayer and the Sub tuum are also holy things) which, if used with the intention to deceive or commit some evil, entails the commission of the sin of sacrilege. As documented above, this is precisely what Pope Francis is doing with his campaign to pray these prayers against the “Great Accuser”. His actions are especially grievous, because the Rosary is the designated means proposed by Our Lady for our own purification, the purification of the Church, and the conversion of all peoples.

We therefore completely reject this proposal of Pope Francis. Our rejection is obviously not a refusal to pray the Rosary, but rather the contrary. We ask all the faithful to pray every Rosary For the Purification of the Church in order that, in accord with the mission entrusted by God to Mary’s Immaculate and Pierced Heat, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed. We also ask all faithful Catholics to join us on February 2, 2019, Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple, in order to unite in praying, not only for the purification of the whole Church, but also for the purification of the minds and hearts of each one of us.
    ————————————————————-
New Effort! Please read the following:
It should have become obvious to every Catholic over the past few months that the crises (and they are many) now facing the Catholic Church can only be overcome through interior purification, and that all of our efforts to overcome the evils “out there” (abortion, secularism, terrorism, etc.) are bound to prove ineffective unless they are preceded by the prayer and penance needed to effect such interior purification. Without such purification, it is impossible that the Church, which was sent forth by Christ for the conversion of nations, can come once again to possess the power and grace necessary to carry out this mission.

On February 2, 2019, the double Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple, there will occur the Second Annual Rosary to the Interior: For the Purification of the Church. We ask all Catholic faithful to join us in this effort by asking their parish priests to implement this event in their local parishes. There are links on this page to the Original Proposal (which explains the purpose and logic of this Rosary to the Interior)), a sample letter that may be sent to priests, and a suggested Holy Hour.

We are also beginning a new phase to this effort, which will enable each person who sees the value of the Rosary to the Interior: For the Purification of the Church to become a full participant in its success. In the Menu can be found a link titled “Handout”, which contains a one-page explanation and promotion of this event, and which can be copied and distributed in all Catholic venues: Catholic churches, Rosary Marches, Adoration Chapels, Catholic Conferences, etc. We hope and pray that all Catholics who are concerned about the current state of the Church, and especially parents who are deeply concerned about their children and the future of their Church, will see the necessity of personally engaging in this work. Please contact us if you have any questions.

I think it's reasonable to assume this is the same James Larson who wrote 'War Against The Papacy', a stout defense of the papal office, even against attacks by those who would deploy tradition as their motive. In other words, for Mr Larson to take such a strong stance against our current occupant of the papacy speaks volumes.

I find it hard to conceive that the vast majority of those who say the Rosary or the St. Michael prayer will do so with anything but the correct intention, in other words the invoking of the Will of God. Those who might be sympathetic to Pope Francis probably largely consist of people who wouldn't know the Hail Mary and certainly wouldn't have the commitment nor interest to say a series of them.

Yes I got a few copies of the rpayer and am saying them quite often myself, one of them is a prayer to Our Lady I have never said before but love very much:

    Sub tuum praesidium

We fly to thy protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our petitions for our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and Blesssed Virgin.

The difficulty is not in saying these prayers with good intention but bad intentions. The intention of covering up child abuse and eprversion is a bad one. Since the Holy Father is calling for this and is the main channeler or petitioner of thsi prayer we can assume the intention is quite evil; in fact very evil. It won;t turn back on the ordinary person like ourselves but it will, I believe, fall back on Pope Francis's head big time.
Asking Our Lady and St Michael to assist in covering up child abuse was unwise and evil.

This post is really relevant to all of us who may be about to “go dark” with no visible Church to sustain us. I was just thinking about the Japanese preserving the faith for 500 years last night while I was washing the dishes. And then I read this post. Like a confirmation. I pray and hope we are not asked this by Our Lord but as this man says so eloquently “nothing is impossible with God.”

"But yet the Son of Man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?"

In human terms, I think that there might be no Catholics on Earth at the Second Coming is a possibility. In Divine terms, it is not. The distinction is made clearer, I think, by Our Lord's emphasis on seeking the opinion of men. Fortunately, it isn't down to mere men. Otherwise, there'd have been no Catholics for centuries.

There's further information from Ann Barnhardt about the 'stang' thang. There's a picture of Pope Francis receiving it from two young women. The one on the left is clearly wearing a knotted red, string bracelet. According to Barnhardt, and reference to the internet supports her, this symbol is very commonly associated with Jewish Kabbalah and also witchcraft.

My own first thought, on learning this, is that since Kabbalah is connected with Christ-hating Talmudic Judaism, it could be a symbol of the thread used in the Temple sacrifice, which turned white at the completion of the sacrifice. According to the Talmud itself, this transformation from red to white failed completely, and has continued to fail ever since, forty years before the fall of Jerusalem in 70AD, which coincides with Our Lord's offering of Himself as the New Sacrifice for the New Israel. Whatever the symbolism is meant to be, it is enormously disturbing in this context.

Speaking of Our Lord's Sacrifice, I also noticed Pope Francis' pectoral cross. Upon it, Our Lord's arms are crossed. It is poorly focussed, and one can google superior images where Our Lord is holding a lamb with outstretched arms. Combined with all the other imagery on display, it communicates nothing to me but a denial of the Crucifixion.

  18. Report: Catholic Church Faces Gravest Crisis Since ‘Protestant Reformation’

The Catholic bishops are gathering in Rome for a synod in a moment in which “the Church faces perhaps its gravest crisis since the Protestant Reformation in the form of the worldwide clerical sexual abuse scandals,” according to veteran Vatican analyst John L. Allen, Jr.

Allen, who heads up the Catholic online news outlet Crux, added that “the eyes of the Catholic world will be on how they choose to engage it.”

Much of this will depend on Pope Francis, since he currently seems to be the Church’s biggest obstacle to tackling the sex abuse crisis head-on. He has repeatedly refused to confirm or deny allegations that he knowingly rehabilitated serial homosexual abuser Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and elevated him to a position of influence in the Vatican.

Moreover, the United States bishops have petitioned the pope to launch an “apostolic visitation” — a full Vatican investigation — into the McCarrick case, which so far has fallen on deaf ears. The president of the U.S. Bishops Conference (USCCB), Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, followed up on the petition by traveling to Rome last month to urge Francis to open the investigation but returned to the U.S. empty-handed.

Wednesday was the opening day of the Vatican Synod of Bishops on youth, and, according to Allen, it may well be “the most significant summit so far on this pope’s watch.”

“The clerical abuse crisis has badly damaged the Church’s moral credibility, made it difficult to move the ball on anything else the Church cares about, and called into question the standing and personal integrity of Church leaders at all levels,” Allen noted.

“Inside the Church and out, there’s a level of anger and disillusionment that’s crippling,” he said.

On August 25, a former papal nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, released an explosive, 11-page report in which he laid out a series of allegations against a number of high-ranking prelates, including Pope Francis.

The central accusation against the pope was that Viganò had personally informed him in 2013 of McCarrick’s record of abuse against priests, seminarians, and lay people, as well as telling him of sanctions imposed on McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI. Despite this knowledge, Viganò alleged, Francis lifted the sanctions, involved McCarrick in diplomatic missions on behalf of the Holy See, and consulted him regarding the naming of new bishops for the United States.

News reports from early in the Francis pontificate would seem to corroborate charges that the pope gave McCarrick a new lease on life shortly after his election.

A 2014 article in the Washington Post stated that McCarrick was “one of a number of senior churchmen who were more or less put out to pasture during the eight-year pontificate of Benedict XVI.”

“But now Francis is pope, and prelates like Cardinal Walter Kasper (another old friend of McCarrick’s) and McCarrick himself are back in the mix, and busier than ever,” the article stated.

“Francis, who has put the Vatican back on the geopolitical stage, knows that when he needs a savvy back channel operator he can turn to McCarrick,” it said.

When challenged by journalists to respond whether the allegations made by Archbishop Viganò were true, the pope refused to answer, and has kept silence regarding the charges ever since.

A number of U.S. bishops have come forward to ask the pope to break his silence regarding when he learned of the crimes of former-cardinal McCarrick, insisting that the Viganò report contains a number of “credible allegations” that demand a response.

Last Thursday, Viganò himself said that the pope’s silence on the matter must be interpreted as a confirmation of the allegations.

“Neither the pope, nor any of the cardinals in Rome have denied the facts I asserted in my testimony,” Viganò wrote in a 4-page memo, adding that according to the law, silence denotes consent.

If they deny my testimony, he added, “they have only to say so, and provide documentation to support that denial. How can one avoid concluding that the reason they do not provide the documentation is that they know it confirms my testimony?”

“The pope’s unwillingness to respond to my charges and his deafness to the appeals by the faithful for accountability are hardly consistent with his calls for transparency and bridge building,” he said.

So, no matter what the official subject of the current synod of bishops is, Mr. Allen has suggested, the bishops themselves will want to talk about the sex abuse crisis, “and whether it’s on the synod floor or during coffee breaks or at lunches and dinners, that’s exactly what they’ll spend a good chunk of the month doing.”

The bishops gathered in Rome during October will feel “enormous pressure” to face up to the realities of the moment, Allen said, with victims of abuse, child protection advocates, and ordinary rank and file Catholics stung by the scandals “will all be looking to these bishops to supply some sort of hope.”

Whether Pope Francis will address the issues himself or continue to act as if they are unimportant remains to be seen.
