It seems as if we are living in the middle of this prophecy as it unfolds. OCTOBER 13, 1973 "My dear daughter, listen well to what I have to say to you. You will inform your superior." After a short silence: "As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests." "The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord. "The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them" "With courage, speak to your superior. He will know how to encourage each one of you to pray and to accomplish works of reparation." "It is Bishop Ito, who directs your community." And She smiled and then said: "You have still something to ask? Today is the last time that I will speak to you in living voice. From now on you will obey the one sent to you and your superior." "Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamites which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved."
Yes, I agree. Been thinking that the time described above is upon us now since the dubia of four Cardinals were issued. Notably, the date of the above apparition is 13 October, coinciding with the date of the great miracle of Fatima. Pope Benedikt, who is known to have a keen interest in prophecy and apparitions, has stated something to the effect that the messages of Akita and Fatima are essentially the same. Both contain a call to pray the Rosary daily, as a weapon of sorts. The statement about Churches and altars sacked is reminiscent of Blessed Anna Katharina Emmerich's prophecies, who in the 1800s saw an "afterchurch" which is Protestant of sorts, where people receive less blessings from Holy Mass and where each parishioner pulls out their own idol during Mass and worships it. Emmerich saw a dark sect secretly directing a deconstruction of the real church, pointing to the bricks, that they want taken down, with their mason's trowels. The place of the altar was "desolate and dreadful" in Emmerich's vision. This seems to tie in with the (much later) message of Akita, which mentions "altars sacked". Emmerich saw two Popes, one popular but possibly a man of the afterchurch; and one alone and only surrounded by few friends, prayerful and suffering, lonely and isolated in the Vatican. All this seems to fit in with Akita, an approved apparition where the tears that the statue of our Lady shed miraculously have been televised in Japan and preserved by the Akita nuns on cotton balls. The time is at hand, I reckon. Our Lady of Akita, pray for us.
It is so important to be reminded again of this very clear message. So clear and to the point. Motherly but firm.
Yes. I used to speak and understand Japanese pretty well. What struck me about the original text of the locution is how simple, direct, almost child-like (or at the level a child could understand ) the Japanese was. Very simple.
If we look at St. John Bosco's famous vision of the ship (representing the Church) being attacked by many small ships, where is the Church safely anchored and held in the end? Between two columns, one surmounted by the statue of the virgin, one surmounted by the Host. The Eucharist is the sign our Lord left us as a memorial of his death and resurrection. I reckon that answers your very valid question. Garabandal is an unapproved apparition, as I gather, coming from God or possibly from the evil one. Garabandal seems to attract particularly faithful and good-hearted Catholics, who would otherwise perhaps be more focussed on the Church's eternal magisterium as well as on approved apparitions with crystal-clear messages such as Our Lady of Good Success (Quito), Akita, and Fatima. Garabandal has faithful Catholics waiting and waiting for a sign and a warning that may never come, even beyond the death of Joey whose eyesight was supposed to be restored. It is another sad cause of confusion and division especially among the devout believers. I wish to contribute here with what I think is true from my insignificant mind and my truly devoted heart, and I hope and pray that my thoughts may not be seen as offensive. I especially admire some people here for their hard work, particularly Padraig and others. It saddens me to see the state of confusion our Church is in. Please see my comments with mercy and consideration. I love this forum, it gives me strength and perseverance and a bit of direction occasionally. God bless all here. Coming back to Brian's idea to offer some decades for this forum. I've been meaning to do this more, will try harder.
Unfortunately, Frank, your views are in the minority on this forum. Attempts to convince others of your position will be a lesson in futility. Furthermore, I find it very curious that your views on Medjugorje and Garabandal are so negative given that Akita is not an approved apparition. In addition, it took over 350 years for Our Lady of Good Success to be approved which is was in 1991. I don't know about you but I don't have 350 years to wait. There are far too many good fruits coming from Medjugorje and Garabandal not to be fully immersed in these apparitions! BTW, your recent postings on Medjugorje were way over the top and your views support already discredited critics who state that the visionaries are exceptionally wealthy and somehow unworthy. Note that, although Mercedes is a high end automobile in N. America, it does not have the same conotation outside N. America. Even if what you say is reality, which I don't believe it is, owning a Mercedes doesn't mean you're wealthy. And even if the visionaries owned this car, don't judge unless you know who they really are!
Thanks for the above link. It is my understanding that Akita was approved by Bishop Ito (as far as the Church considers private revelation worthy of belief). I found the statue of our Lady beautiful in a very simple and holy way, when I had a chance to visit Akita a few months ago. The Sisters were lovely.
Minority views if expressed respectfully and graciously can still, hopefully, be permitted. If expressing doubt on a beloved or widely accepted unapproved apparition, it may be best to say one's heart, and leave it for folks to discern. If we find something unsettling or off in an alleged apparition, I hope we can share that, even if we turn out to be wrong.
I believe we are witnessing the begginning of one of the Pre-Warning signs. Conchita said, "The church will be cruelly torn by "something like a schism".
I have to say I remain troubled by the reactions expressed when anyone questions unapproved apparitions. Every Catholic has the right to take that position. We are not obliged to believe even approved apparitions. Frank was very respectful. He is not indicting anyone who supports them. He is giving his own testament to his own experiences and asking sincere questions. Our faith is based on Jesus Christ, His Church that holds the full deposit of truth and the Magisterium whose teaching goes back to the apostles and early Church fathers. Our faith is NOT dependent on this or that apparition. Please let’s exercise some caution here in how we react to honest questions. IMHO we should Beware of attachments so intense that they provoke such reactions.
Exactly. Mercedes and BMWs are common in Europe. During one of my stays in Medjugorje I actually asked someone about the number of Mercedes there and I was told they are mostly second-hand cars imported from Germany. Buying a 5-year old Mercedes from Germany comes out cheaper than buying a brand-new car in Croatia or Bosnia-Herzegovina and, of course, a 5 or 6-year old Mercedes is still usually a very good car.
Yes people should be free to share their opinions without fear of attack. I dont agree with his stance on Garabandal but i do understand.
I believe in Garabandal and Medjugorje and, of course, in Akita. I think they help our spiritual and material life. But I very much doubt the first (or second, or tenth) question we will be asked when we get to the other side will be: "Did you believe in ... (fill in the blanks with whatever alleged spiritual manifestation you like)" Keep you eye on the ball, folks! It´s Our Lord and His Holy Mother that matter.
gracia, I agree, I believe that the Sign left by My Son is the Cross. I used to wonder if this referenced the permanent sign to be left at Garabandal but I believe that is the Cross. This makes complete sense. Frank, The Holy Eucharist, the consecrated host, is the body of Our Lord not a sign but your post made me wonder about the timing of when that first paragraph that Rain posted above from Our Lady of Akita when "...Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity...". Imho it appears that this must happen at the time of the Antichrist and abomination of desolation when the Holy Eucharist is no longer available to humankind. So maybe Our Lady of Akita was also giving us a hint about the timing of this when she stated, "The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son." I would be curious to hear others thoughts about this.
