I read a twitter post by a priest today who suggested that every Catholic should spend an hour at Adoration here and there and thus this crisis would be relieved. I agree that there is not enough reparation. Padraig says that we get the priests that we deserve. I tend to agree. I am not excusing the above posts. I am saying that we are called by Our Lady to pray for priests. It's truly appalling, I agree.
    And it didn't happen overnight.

Edit: It was Fr. Jay Finelli who asked for Catholics to commit to one hour of Adoration a week to pray for priests.

Also, at the risk of hijacking this thread, I have to say that it is not only the Church that has been struck by evils so dark, it is the world as well. I read tonight that the Food and Drug Administration, in the US, has funded studies on the immune system of mice (chimera) using freshly aborted fetal body parts purchased with US tax dollars (from Planned Parenthood)
    Don't patronize Starbucks.
I am going to find the link and post in on Signs.

It certainly didn't happen overnight. I've just posted this link on Roger Buck's thread but since that thread is specifically about Ireland, people from other countries might miss it. It's a talk given recently by by Prof. Tracey Rowland of the International Theological Commission. http://dominicans.ie/what-happened-in-1968-ratzinger-symposium/

Regarding praying for priests, I recommend the "Adopt a Priest" initiative. I don't know anything about it other than each person is given the name of a priest and commits to praying for him every day a few short prayers and the third decade of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary as well as offering one Mass per week for him.

Each of those videos were a desecration to the Holy and Sacred Mass!

    I am aghast; I feel so sorry for the German youth and for all youth who are affronted with these outright blasphemies;
I wonder why and how are these preversions allowed!

They are an absolute insult to God and the redemption He wrought with His Holy sacrifice!

What is wrong with the German people????
They seem to have lost all sense of the sacred!

To speak in the venacular.......It seems so many prelates have lost the plot!

Sacred Heart of Jesus I give you my heart and my soul. Look with pity upon us. Amen.

One can scarcely believe that cardinals would celebrate such masses, but the evidence is there for all to see.
The Traditional Latin Mass is not open to such abuses.

  11. Looking at the footage of the youth mass with Cardinal S., there are many things that are painful to view including the material used for the Holy Eucharist, the balloons and the lighting, however, to note one positive thing, Cardinal S. does genuflect after the words of consecration...which can not be said of pope francis or even my local pastor. Also, because the gloriatv stamp had the year 2008, does that mean that the video was from 2008? At one point in the 1990's there were some parishes that had that same type of material used for Holy Eucharist, but that has been changed to the wafer type hosts. I am asking sincerely now... at what point is there liturgical abuse with the choice of musical instruments during the liturgy? We know that David danced and leapt before the Ark of the Covenant and the Israelites played their instruments including drums, harps, timbrels, tambourines, clapping their hands with great joy in worship of the Lord. Is a youth Mass where they play the guitar and have a drummer considered a liturgical abuse?

I wonder if it might be possible the Pope saint Johns Paul and Pope Benedict had a cool hard look at the state of things and that is why Benedict resigned and At Jon Paul offered himself as. A living Sacrifice?

Anyway We can understand so much better now the messages of Our Blessed Lady from Fatima on down to the present day.

    Have I lost hope?

No not at all!! I am brimful of hope!! Our Lady has promised us the victory!!

On the other hand I have lost a certain false innocence. I now know the Church is, humanly speaking a total basket case.

Only God, through Our Blessed Mother can save us. But save us she will.

But I now know why, for instance we had no vocations. How could God send us young men and women to be molested and made only fit for hell themselves through their Satanic Superiors?

There is a direction and good Divine end point .to all this, of that I am sure.

God writes straight on crooked lines, though these are the most crooked I have heard of.

Rome, for instance, is now an abomination, which is why it will burn.

I'm not sure I see the problem with guitar and drum.
Also, what type of bread substance are you struggling with for the Eucharist?

Does anyone else see their priests hold each species out, one in each hand rather than with both hands Body held over the Blood? Have you seen the practice of hand sanitizer by Extraordinary Eucharist Ministers before and after as a parish practice? I have not found this throughout my diocese but in select parishes.

    Yes to hand sanitizer
    In Maryland
We also discontinued the Precious Blood last winter during a long season of illness
I actually did not miss it
I don’t receive under both species

  18. Sg posted 3 videos in #181 of this thread. I have only viewed the middle video and it is of Cardinal Schonborn presiding at a youth Mass. The date of when the video was taken isn't clear and may have been from 2008. The Sacred Body provided for each recipient is in square form and thick. One shot shows the recipient eating bites of their Communion instead of consuming it whole. One can imagine that there would be particles that would fall from this type of Holy Communion that would be disregarded and therefore it would be an abuse of the sacredness of Holy Communion. I was noting that I have attended Masses where this was the Holy Communion that was provided but that was in the 1990's and I haven't seen it since then which is a good thing in my opinion. I was wondering how the Lord would view the musical instruments at His Masses. Would He be pleased with guitar and a drum or would that cause offense? I am of the opinion that as long as the choir doesn't become the main focus of the liturgy and if the words of the Hymns are holy and inspiring to those singing, I do not think the Lord would be offended. However, the lighting and the rock band quality of the choir in the middle video that Sg posted was too much and distracting from the sacredness of Holy Mass.

I my church, which has a very large Hispanic congregation, they will play their instruments so loud you can hear it blocks away and it just shakes and raddles the windows. I mean many trumpets, electric guitars, drums, etc.... and not just during Mass, but hours after Mass. I can not stand it. It seems to me to be all emotional based, cause you can't pray at all when this is going on. Not that the music is bad in itself, but it has no sense of the reverence due God in his Real Presence. It belongs in a wedding party afterwards IMHO.

According to Gloria TV or whoever uploaded the Video:
"This is a video about a Youth Mass celebrated on 16th of November 2008 by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna in Wolfsthal, Lower Austria."

The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, issued " Instruction" Redemptionis Sacramentum (on certain matters to be observed or avoided regarding the Most Holy Eucharist) on 25 March 2004. http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/c..._redemptionis-sacramentum_en.html#Chapter III
The requirements for valid matter (unleavened bread, purely of wheat and recently made) are given in Chapter 111, paragraph 48.
Reading the rather stern language in the Preamble, it appears that the document was issued to correct widespread abuses.
How can anyone tell from looking at the video whether or not unleavened bread was used?

The Instruction is not so explicit regarding music (see Chapter 1, paragraph 25).

The third video appears to be choc full of abuses, far worse than the first two.
