I think I will start praying to St Michael and the Holy Angels...and Our Lady, of course. I suspect it was a certain bad person kicked of the site. It is a great source of good this forum. Such a pity if it went down. But God's Will be done.
Your not the only one, I thought it was my phone. Even when I was able to get to the forum it would pop up error when I tried to read or respond.
Add my prayers too. I have grown so very fond of this group, I would be sad not to be able to access it.
Padraig can we help you with protective soft wear by subscribing through PayPal or something like that. I would like to donate anyway. Is there a way to do it?
Hi Padraig, Have a look over at https://xenforo.com/community/resources/dbtech-dragonbyte-security.5193/ for ideas about security software. God bless, Dave. Ps: Would contribute too...
I had problems this morning with slow load times. Didn't think too much of it. There was a saying when I worked at MCI Telecommunications: Fiber optic cable is extremely resistant to electrical interference. It is extremely susceptible to backhoes. We once had a 12-hour slowdown on one route when the backhoe started digging a trench, only to find that the location of the cable was 15 feet from where the maps sait it was. BTW, St. Isidore of Seville is the patron of the Internet. Try invoking him at least once a day before getting on the Internet: Almighty and eternal God, who has created us in Thy image, and hast bidden us to seek after all that is good, true, and beautiful, especially in the divine person of thy only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of Saint Isidore, bishop and doctor, during our journeys through the Internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf – http://wdtprs.com/blog/
This is exactly what I was looking for. It is OK I donl;t believe I need donations but thank you all anyway. I must try and do this tomorrow.
At one stage I got a notice saying something along the lines of "we're working on the site" so figured that there had been another attempted hack and it was being sorted out..
Yes me too. All morning I kept getting redirected to a page telling me that there was a gateway timeout. I figured that the site was under attack so I am glad t see things back up and running again.
Apparently the Forum was not attacked but there is a limitation on how big it can grown. I am calling hostgator now to get a bigger size . I am also going to check to get security add ons; to save me from having a heart attack. Thanks to John for letting me know and showing me how to fix this. I think this place kinda just grew out of its shoes, which is a good thing not a bad one. I am glad no one is trying to hurt it. I will let you know.
I've protected the site and tweeked a few things from this side, there were a few issues over the past few weeks but the main one identified was our host server, hopefully you got it sorted with them Padraig and all is back to normal.. I don't mind computers just the big internet software companies who like to make things difficult
Wow . Over 45 degrees in Canada. Wild. https://watchers.news/2018/07/04/he...leaving-11-dead-in-montreal-15-across-quebec/
It is no joke for sure. Maine has been sweltering too. Really dangerous. I have been very careful to not try to do too much and stay hydrated. I am hoping it will subside now to more normal temperatures. It is also very dry. We need rain!
