It means the end of the "Catholic" or universal Church which follows a uniform set of dogmas worldwide.

Of course the Church will never be defeated, but I think we are about to discover just how close to defeat it will be allowed to become.

Cardinal Marx condemns Bavaria decision to hang crosses in all public buildings

'If the cross is just seen as a cultural symbol, then it has not been understood', Marx said.

The enactment of a decision to hang crosses in all public buildings in Bavaria has triggered “Division, stirred up trouble and played people off against one another”, Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich, the president of the German bishops’ conference told the 'Süddeutsche Zeitung' on 30 April.

Bavaria last week ordered all government buildings to display a cross at their entrance. “The cross is a fundamental symbol of our Bavarian identity and way of life,” said Bavaria's new leader, Markus Söder, as he hung a cross in the lobby of the state government’s headquarters in Munich, directly after the rule was passed. The action comes into effect on 1 June.

“If the cross is just seen as a cultural symbol, then it has not been understood”, Marx said. The cross was a sign of opposition to violence, injustice, sin and death but not a sign against other people.

The debate that had ensued about the cross was important as it had brought to light the need to discuss what it meant to live in a country moulded by Christianity. “The cross means including everyone, Christians, Muslims, Jews and non-believers,” Marx said.

Meanwhile the Vatican announced that Cardinal Marx with other German bishops would visit Rome on 3 May to discuss with heads of dicasteries the bishops’ newly agreed handout on communion for mixed-marriage couples. At the bishops’ conference’s spring plenary on 22 February a two-thirds majority voted in favour of allowing couples in inter-Church marriages to receive the Catholic Eucharist together in individual cases. On 22 March, seven bishops, including Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki of Cologne, sent a letter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome asking for clarification as to whether the issue was within the competence of a local bishops’ conference. Cardinal Woelki and Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer of Regensburg were the two members of the seven scheduled to take part in the discussions at the Vatican as The Tablet was going to press.

One of the German team is expected to be Bishop Felix Genn of Münster. “I can understand that [the seven] are troubled by questions of conscience but not happy about the way they expressed their objections. I would have wished for an open discussion before the letter was sent to Rome,” Bishop Genn told KNA.

Humanly speaking it would take generations for the Church to recover from these things, even if it ever could. A complete and total train wreck.

    Only God can save us.

    But He will; He will.

    Carol55 Ave Maria

Dolours posted a very good video back on April 7th which she urged everyone to watch a portion of it's in her post above and I will repost it here.
If you haven't watched it, you really should! Ross Douthat (a writer for the NYT, btw) sheds very good insight on what is happening in the Church, in layman's terms.

We know that Cardinal Sarah has been sounding the alarm for years.

This past Fall, it got much worse when he rightly spoke up about this very thing - the Pope giving more power to the local bishops and now it is beginning to bear it's rotten fruit. Maybe we'll see the rotten fruit be cut from the vine, I hope so.

Therefore, the only new news that I can see is that Germany may be moving ahead with their agenda as EarthtoAngels pointed out in her post below.
It's very, very bad but we knew this was coming, right?
Don, This was also discussed by Raymond Arroyo last night on the World Over. Here is the full episode I think it is very good and everyone here should watch the whole thing. This is my go to each week for information about the Church along with MOG of course but that's daily. Thank you always everyone here!

I am becoming more and more interested in reading the following books by Cardinal Sarah.
I would love to here if any members have read either book at what your thoughts are about it - Thank you,

God or Nothing: A Conversation on Faith

"The idea of putting Magisterial teaching in a beautiful display case while separating it from pastoral practice, which then could evolve along with circumstances, fashions, and passions, is a sort of heresy, a dangerous schizophrenic pathology. I therefore solemnly state that the Church in Africa is staunchly opposed to any rebellion against the teaching of Jesus and of the Magisterium. . . . The Church of Africa is committed in the name of the Lord Jesus to keeping unchanged the teaching of God and of the Church."

The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise

"Silence is more important than any other human work," he says,"for it expresses God. The true revolution comes from silence; it leads us toward God and others so as to place ourselves humbly and generously at their service."

Bishop Williamson of the SSPX was a holocaust denier

To some in the Church, The Cross is an obscenity.

Many German Lutherans (who defended the Our Father recently) would be appalled. What kind of inter-faith communion do these 'Marxists' anticipate?

I've read 'God or Nothing'. Excellent. Very genuinely humble. I was particularly struck by his distinguishing of poverty from destitution. He has a very favourable view of the former state, which he grew up in, while strongly favouring the relief of the latter.

exactly, and he was not quiet in denial
He was one of the four original priests ordained by Apb Lefebvre
At one point in the 70s I had some kind of prayerbook and collection of messages from various seers and it promoted holocaust deniers
    Scary
My point is the SSPX is not all balloons and cake and ice cream
    It is not a panacea
I don’t like that this thread has become a platform for promoting it
Maybe there could be a separate thread for it
    That would be great
It’s just that the description of the Church as One Holy Catholic and Apostolic is pretty much toast right now
And info about that belongs on this thread

    Btw
I have always heard that if there are pile of crosses in the middle of a room and we could pick out a cross
We would pick out our own
    That is cool
That God designs our crosses just for us

Padraig said something once (at least I believe it was him) that always resonated with me. It was something along the lines that the cross we might pick for ourselves is never the one we are given. I know this is the opposite of what you just stated and I don't know which one is true, but I know in my own life the crosses I have are the most agonizing ones for me and the ones I would have chosen to avoid.

Well, I think you have spoken truly for you. I also know when I look at what others are going through, I am grateful for the cross I have. But it must truly vary, or people would not be saying what they are saying. A cross is a cross. Not fun.

HH the reason for my post had nothing to do with promoting anything other than to point out that Williamson was separated from the SSPX and that there were problems with his views.

I think it is in the very nature of sin; of temptation, that it should shroud itself as something good.

We can see this firstly in the Garden of Eden, when to eat the fruit was seen as good.

Unless we have walked very, very ,very far on the road of evil our temptations will always be to regard evil as good

Given that that this is so we also do not have an understanding of the areas of darkness in ourselves.

The whole world can see these, clear as day; we can not.

The very first purpose of our cross is to reveal this darkness.

Hence the cross we are given is the cross we would most avoid as it is the truth we would least know.
If we have not realised this, we have not yet borne ir

Just to clarify I don't think anyone here was promoting the SSPX though. Just stating some facts.

The revelation of these areas of darkness of self lies in ourselves is totally excruciating.

But we each lie to ourselves in different ways.

Hence we each have our own Cross.

The very first thing our own cross does is to show us the truth about our own lies

Hence the cross we would least face
