Very, very strange indeed. America was about to pull out of Syria, Syria was winning the war. Where´s the motive for the alleged chemical attacks? And NO, I don´t think Russia has converted although there are some encouraging signs (conversion still lies in the future imo. There´s more here than meets the eye.
MMM, Imo, Assad's statements are very suspicious, it appears that he is lying. In the video that you posted, Assad confirms that Syria did in fact have an arsenal of chemical weapons and he states that they were destroyed three years ago but they would never use them if they still had them. So then why develop them in the first place if Syria would never use them, this makes no sense. I realize that some weapons are developed as a deterrent but usually not weapons that you are banned from producing and stockpiling in a treaty* that your country had already signed and ratified. So why would a country develop chemical weapons in particular if they never intended to use them. It is not as if Assad could boast that he has/had a stockpile of chemical weapons the way we see North Korea boasting about their ICBM and nuclear weapon development. I think it would be foolish to trust him. *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_Weapons_Convention Byron, That's good to know but ultimately the NY Times are presenting the same case that you and others are presenting. CD, I wondered about what you have stated here also, "Chemicals are so easy to produce that it's really impossible to stop." and I realize that every country is different and Syria cannot be fairly compared to other countries in the world but if chemical weapons are so easy to produce then why don't we see this happening in other places around the world the way that it is occurring in Syria? There are plenty of other countries which are experiencing unrest and civil war, in fact 18 countries are in civil war right now. ** I really am trying to understand better, I am not trying to be flippant. Thank you. You are correct, "we must Watch & Pray!!". **https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_civil_wars (under Ongoing civil wars)
This guy has been known to the troops, for a long time now, as "Wesley the Weasel". He's an Obama/Clinton man. Don't put any trust in anything he comes out with. A darling of the MSM lefties and good example of the Peter Principle. On CNN for one instance....attempting to take on a real General, Flynn, while backing somebody like Kerry and his actions: Wesley Clark: Flynn will have to 'reconcile what he's said' about Muslims ...He added: "It's going to be a challenge, that national security adviser position is a big, tough position." Clark, who ran for president in the 2004 election as a Democrat and dropped out to support eventual nominee John Kerry, said that he had not worked directly with Flynn but that he's heard good things about him. "He's an Army officer. He's come up through the ranks. A lot of people I respect had a lot of strong feelings, a lot of very strong feelings for Mike Flynn," he said. "So I hope he'll do the best he can and I hope it'll be good enough to move the country in the right direction." https://www.cnn.com/2016/11/29/politics/retired-general-wes-clark-donald-trump/index.html
Some observations, from an ignorant peasant through a thick fog of war: 1. I don't think Trump is all that committed to war. The strikes seem to have had little effect, no more than the one on that airfield last year. It seems more of a message than a massacre. 2. The West is seriously dividing on this issue. The infantile May and the childish Macron on one side, while Germany and Italy wish nothing to do with it. 3. The all-round cynicism and vile propaganda stinks. 4. This could escalate. 5. This also could ultimately backfire on the globalists if Trump and Putin, in the interests of avoiding Armageddon, renew a form of 'detente'. Both represent an old-fashioned nationalism that is inimical to globalism.
Got the wrong President there. The whole current, corrupt system was designed and weaponized by Obama. Helloooo?? If you hadn't noticed, the current President is their main target for heaven's sake as he confidently allows each of the main characters to twist on the rope of their own hanging rather than to fall into any trap set by them for his impeachment. It's just starting as we watch the arrows they throw against Trump have the boomerang effect. Comey just threw Lynch under the bus. She will next give her incriminating side against Comey. Comey is tied to Mueller at the waist. Lynch will rope in Obama/Hillary et al. Grab the popcorn, sit back and watch God continue to work to expose the evil web of systems....to reach worldwide in the end. Mattis is great....Dunford is no wimp....as are the rest Trump has surrounded himself with now. That swamp is enormous and the leaks are horrendous. But for crying out loud put the blame where it belongs....and where it belongs are the persons getting more disturbed by Trump's actions each day whose secure little worlds are crumbling about them. As Rome wasn't built in a day....Making America Great Again won't happen over night. Support the right side even when your own "intelligence" may be limited by those still using the Alinsky approach to manipulate minds already molded by Obama for so long. I'm with these anything other than naive Marines. Unless the paranoia I see here would, in desperation, would be manipulated by the fear mongers to trust Assad/Putin over our own tried and true. Just look at the creep, Schumer's own warnings to Trump...about, once he begins draining the swamp, esp. within such fossilized enemies of the country: New Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is “being really dumb” by taking on the intelligence community and its assessments on Russia’s cyber activities. “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. And you're still living in the belief that Trump is trusting the liars he calls out daily? Now there's your brave new world for ya. See reality and defend the opposite.
You sure are. Trusting the lies that come out of our so called intelligence against Assad is ludicrous. It's de ja vu all over again.
Really Carol, why don't you read this: NY Times Caught Manipulating Public Opinion on Syria Attack — Ex-UN Official OPINION 03:52 13.04.2018(updated 03:57 13.04.2018)Get short URL Tensions Mount as Douma Provocation Triggers Syria Strike Threat (103) 13500 The New York Times has overlooked vital details about the narrative that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad used chemical weapons to kill his own people, a former high-level United Nations official told Radio Sputnik Thursday, an oversight that amounts to “manipulation of public opinion” in favor of more death and destruction in war-torn Syria. The deal with the Syrian government for the remaining armed militants to leave the embattled city of Douma after losing to Syrian forces took effect before the chemical attack allegedly occurred. Assad had no reason to use chemical weapons in a battle that had already been won, diplomats explained to Sputnik News this week. Nevertheless, the New York Times reports that chemical warfare was used for military reasons. "A New York Times review of more than 20 videos of its aftermath, an examination of flight records compiled by citizen observers and interviews with a dozen residents, medics and rescue workers suggest that during a military push to break the will of Douma's rebels, pro-government forces dropped charges bearing some kind of chemical compound that suffocated at least 43 people and left many more struggling to breathe," according to an April 11 NYT report. But the anti-Assad forces had already agreed to leave, as Alfred de Zayas, a retired high-ranking UN official and the UN Independent Expert on the Promotion of a Democratic and Equitable International Order, told Radio Sputnik's Loud & Clear Thursday. "The New York Times is another example of fake news and manipulation of public opinion," de Zayas said. "When you bring in the issue of motive, Assad has zero motive to use chemical weapons. I'm quite sure that having been attacked a year ago by the United States with 59 Tomahawks, he knows that there are consequences. For me, it was quite clear that having won against the rebels, about the only possibility for the rebels to bring the US, UK and France back in to support them is to create a situation where the outrage of the West against the use of chemical weapons would do the trick for them." "They have already lost. But now the French and the Brits and the Americans are going to devastate Damascus. Human life is important… carrying out any military attack on Syria is going to add to the tragedy." CC BY 2.0 / JULIANA LOPES / TRUMP ICE WATER UK, France Following US ‘Clown’ Into Syrian War Doubts about the claim that Assad used chemical weapons have started to pour in after US President Donald Trump declared definitively that the alleged attack had earned the Syrian president the title of "Animal Assad." Pentagon chief James Mattis acknowledged Thursday that since "we don't have troops, we're not engaged on the ground there… I cannot tell you that we have evidence" that chlorine or Sarin was deployed in Douma. The United Nations' Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, explained at the UN Security Council's emergency meeting on Monday that while he had seen photos and social media reports indicating people were suffering from the effects of chemical weapons. According to the UN's recap of the special envoy's remarks, "While the United Nations was not in a position to verify those reports, [de Mistura] said, 'it cannot ignore them.'" © AP PHOTO / ANDREW HARNIK ‘Chemical Attack’ in Syria: Trump’s ‘Leash Is Being Yanked By Islamic Jihadis’ Peter Ford, former British ambassador to Syria, told Sputnik Radio's Loud & Clear Assad probably isn't guilty of using chemical weapons in Douma. "The idea that Assad would — having virtually reconquered Eastern Ghouta — wait until the end of this very successful recovery operation to launch a completely unnecessary attack on bunch of civilians… Really, you have to be totally naïve to believe Assad would see any advantage in this," the former diplomat said Wednesday.
The New York Times is biased against Assad, which should tell you something. This is the same fake news paper that backed communist thugs like Fidel Castro.
Look up “Operation Mockingbird.” The NYT was (is?) one of their their primary weapons of deep state propaganda.
Byron, I honestly feel like I take a very unbiased stance about these things and I consider myself to be very pragmatic in general. It doesn't make a difference to me what this Sputnik news article that you posted states about the NY Times stance on Syria. The NY Times article that I presented gave the facts in an unbiased format and as I stated they also presented the same case that you and others have argued, Political analysts said that regardless of the number of attacks, Ms. Haley’s assertions appeared to be part of a broader Western effort to create the basis for a military strike on Mr. Assad’s forces. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/13/world/middleeast/un-syria-haley-chemical-weapons.html I can draw my own conclusions about Assad, I don't need the NY Times to help me do so. In addition, I don't tell you what to read, so please don't tell me what to read either. TY.
Interesting analysis. I think Trump is signaling more to Russia's intervention in its foothold to the ME via Syria/Assad. Also Trump extended an "olive branch" of a sort, before attack (accompanying that by the notice to get their own soldiers out) to give Putin a way out to join the civilized world. (and if anyone wishes to make anything of that offer coming on the 13th as well, with the Russia centered Fatima prophecies, go for it!) Since France and the UK remain our allies, it is good to get them involved in some united cause with a newly recognized leader in their terrorist appeasing world, Trump. Merkel is scared to death of Putin due to energy dependency upon him. Italy is a sitting duck for terrorism as more and more take entry through their borders and are in place....not wishing to invite immediate action there. As long as Putin is the leader and a known character of vicious revenge, and using this world stage of Syria for his self-created image back home, and with the ongoing sanctions against him on the home front I don't think it will be that easy for him to allow that same audience to see him in a position of bowing to the American President. Trump also emphasized the economic solutions available, knowing that continued force alone cannot solve this major problem. He's offering a bigger picture and solution. American DOES have a lot to offer those lost in the never ending violence and its constant horrendous results for all involved. Trump's probably the first President who actually knows how to do this through meaningful negotiation as already witnessed with China, those others who have had their way with us for decades, and even, hopefully, NK.
Fun fact: Trump could have given everyone in the US about $150,000.00 each for how much that strike cost, not to mention, heck, maybe he could have built a park or something. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3277606/tomahawk-missile-cruise-missiles-syria-us-air-strikes/
But it happened 13th only in US was 14th there and most of the world. They are Just trying to force numbers into a meaning like always
No, but you can put a price on doing something destructive of absolutely no value versus helping your own people.
I am not convinced who's doing the gassing. I also think the fuss over chemical warfare is a form of hypocrisy. Death and maiming is much the same whether caused by chemical, bomb, bullet or any other means. There was no international outrage when Christians were being crucified by ISIS, because this related to no underlying agenda. It is annoying to witness bellicose great powers risking all of life on the planet with propagandistic manipulations of apocalyptic weaponry pursuing a self-righteous war about alleged chemical weapon attacks, a war that will inevitably cause, by orders of magnitude, far more suffering and death than has been caused by these chemicals. I hope and pray that the diplomats on both sides gain the upper-hand over the butchers.
It makes precious little difference whether or not he's an idiot when he is relying on second and possibly third hand information. You can hero worship him all you want but what I see is a man. That man is under attack from all sides inside and outside his own country. People under such pressure can make mistakes or make decisions to lessen the pressure. Truth is indeed the high moral ground. And who is supplying what you like to call "truth"? NATO and Israeli intelligence services? If you think they aren't capable of lying and killing innocent people to suit their aims, I have a bridge to sell you.
Assad gassed no one. Quit repeating the demonic Neocon propaganda. America is supporting terrorists in Syria as well as neo-nazis in Kiev. America cares nothing about “people gassed by their own government.” Our government has been subverted by Israeli-First and Saudi-First traitors, liars and murderers. Decades of unjust warmongering are about to bring a chastisement down upon us and we deserve it. Trump is the Snake he kept talking about during the campaign.
Carol, The short answer is the old Cold War MAD Principle. MAD = Mutual Assured Destruction. You hit us with NBC (Nuclear, Biological or Chemical) Weapons and we will reply in kind .. or worse. Because Chemical Weapons are cheap to make everybody has them including those you mentioned in Civil War. Chemical/Biological weapons are unpredictable and hard to control ... as they found out in WWI when shifts in the wind could prove disastrous to both sides .... or when agents were accidently released from Labs or leaking weapons. Since WWI, they have been only used lately on lightly armed or helpless civilian targets that can't fight back. The SCARY ANGLE is Terrorists who care nothing about their own survival and especially those Terrorists of the truly Lone Wolf variety. Nation States who run gangs of terrorists are aware of the MAD Principle and are smart enough to "control" their terrorists............... but!!??? .... Watch & Pray!! GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!
