    These messages are lightening rods. Lots of emotional energy invested here. I respect everyone’s right to pick and choose among the many riches of the Church. There are so many riches to be found. Our Lady of Good Success could take years of meditation. Likewise St Hildegard’s or Our Lady of LaSalette or Akita. I like love the words of Our Lady of Guadalupe and often ponder them. I do think it is a fair conversation to talk about taking care with locutions or prophecies that are unvetted. Or unofficially vetted as were Msgr Essef’s seal of approval those locutions a while back that turned out to be bogus. It is a mine field out there and it is no bad thing to tread carefully. At the same time I do not have the right to condemn anyone else for finding solace in the many mystics’ many locutions and words. I would never insist that others follow my path. Like Dolours for me safety lies in the guidance of the Church.

    Still waiting for your evidence that the book GSWYL is demonic. If this is the best you can do, I think you have significantly failed the test, as three giant saints all in our era (St. Padre Pio, St. Pope John Paul and St. Teresa of Calcutta all highly endorsed Garabandal, which you reject.

    If you follow the rules of discernment laid out by Fr Hardon then you have to throw Garabandal out.
    Then GSWYL is also out.

    When folks start bickering like this over prophecy when the world is snowballing into hell quicker than a rat down a drain pipe ---

    I really wonder why some people are just content to stir and stir.

    How easy it is to take your eye off the ball and become trapped in your own arrogant little world.

    Hey,I haven't stirred for ages.
    I hope having a firm opinion is not arrogance.

    True. Firm opinion does not equate to arrogance. St Paul was pretty combative.

    Time will tell what is true prophecy. We still await the fulfillment of Fatima after 100 years --

    We are so blessed to have sacred scripture to refer to for clarification of our Lords final word on the matter! In the Gospel of St Mark and St Matthew we hear the actual word of God in relation to Prophesy!

    St Matthew Chapter 24.....

    4 And Jesus answered them, 'Take care that no one deceives you,
    5 Because many will come using my name and saying, "I am the Christ," and they will deceive many.
    23 'If anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ," or "Over here," do not believe it;
    24 for false Christs and false prophets will arise and provide great signs and portents, enough to deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
    25 Look! I have given you warning.
    26 'If, then, they say to you, "Look, he is in the desert," do not go there; "Look, he is in some hiding place," do not believe it;

    27 because the coming of the Son of man will be like lightning striking in the east and flashing far into the west.

    When we read St Pauls second letter to the Thessalonians, in relation to 'not despising prophesy', we must read it in the context in which it is written! and then we see that St Paul is not contradicting Christ words above, but is urging that we be kind to each other and test all things.

    1 Thessalonians 5

    14 We urge you, brothers, to admonish those who are undisciplined, encourage the apprehensive, support the weak and be patient with everyone.
    15 Make sure that people do not try to repay evil for evil; always aim at what is best for each other and for everyone.
    16 Always be joyful;
    17 pray constantly;
    18 and for all things give thanks; this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
    19 Do not stifle the Spirit
    20 or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt;
    21 test everything and hold to what is good
    22 and shun every form of evil.
    23 May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may your spirit, life and body be kept blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    24 He who has called you is trustworthy and will carry it out.

    That is very true! On the other hand, I have also always interpreting the rebuilding of the temple of Jerusalem as the brick and mortar. Why I don't know. Jesus was not implying that during his lifetime. Why would it be that in the Age to come? Thank you for that reminder of alternate meaning.

    Explain Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
    I equate receiving the Holy Spirit with Confirmation. The Bishop tells the candidate, "Receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit."

    Thanks for this post Mac, I had never read Fr Hardon's guidelines before so I looked them up and came across this article. While not specifically about prophecy per say it seems a great guideline for all Catholic teaching. I watched a video of him earlier today and he spoke at great length on carrying our cross and suffering. Without complaining. This struck home for me especially and I really think it is something very much overlooked today.

    You're welcome.
    Padraig posted this earlier in the thread and it is well worth listening to.
    Member Fatima was I believe a student of Fr Hardon so I have no idea why he does not take his advice on these matters...

    The reason Father Hardon would not have dismissed, in my opinion, the writings in the book God Speaks Will You Listen is because it fits within his own teachings on this subject, which is to verify that what is being said, is not at odds with either scripture or church teachings. Its really that simple. I also believe he, like Father Raux (former head of the MMP) would have also been most pleased to see more scripture in the book GSWYL then in any other messages given. Neither of these reasons can be found absent in the justification for the book.

    Hi everyone,
    I find this discussion interesting, since I am the person who wrote the messages in gswyl down. I was not raised Catholic and I was in the occult prior to this information being written down. I wrote the messages down and put them away on a shelf. My friend Cletus read them, showed them to several priests and a book was made. If you notice, the majority of this book was written for people like me, who are new or left the Catholic faith. People who are solid in the faith many times do not need private revelation, since they know the faith. The book gswyl is not public revelation and no one is required to agree or disagree with it. But I will tell you there have been people who have read this book, repented, and joined the church. Whatever your opinion of this book, the fact that people have been converted is most important. Praise the Lord he took a person like me and used this book to save souls! That is why I will not argue about this book. Even if you claim this book was my own thoughts, the fact souls have been saved is what matters. God uses different means to save souls. The most important lesson I have learned is:
    Do not stifle the Holy Spirit and tell God what he can or cannot do to further his kingdom. After all, it is his kingdom. I did what God wanted me to do and the honor and glory belong to God and not to me. God bless you all and may we all learn to live in hos divine will.

    I also have to thank you Verne. How often people try to put the Holy Spirit in a box, forgetting His ways are not our ways. There is a reason He has throughout history including our own time uses many messengers, but for our discernment of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

    Welcome back to the fold/Family of God in Christ through the Immaculate Heart of our precious perfect Mother!!!
