ARE YOUR HANDS EMPTY ? The Last Apparition at Garabandal November 13, 1965, was a day mixed with joy and sadness for Conchita. The Virgin appeared with her Child to the teenager but it was to be for the last time at Garabandal. As Mary had already indicated this was to be a special apparition for kissing religious objects and Conchita had many with her. After kissing the articles, the Virgin said: 'Through the kiss I have bestowed on these objects, my Son will perform prodigies. Distribute them to others. Talk to me, Conchita, talk to me about my children. I hold them all beneath my mantle. This will be the last time you will see me here but I shall always be with you and with all my children. Conchita, why don't you go and visit my Son in the tabernacle? He waits for you night and day." Conchita said to the Virgin, "I am so happy when I see both of you. Why don't you take me now to heaven with you?" She replied, "Remember what I told you on your patronal feast day? " When you present yourself before God, your hands must be filled with good deeds done for your brothers and for His glory. At the present time, your hands are empty." WHAT BETTER TIME THAN THIS LENTEN SEASON TO START FILLING THEM UP !
Conchita & HUMILITY For a time, while she was living in Fatima many years ago, she went daily to an older priest’s residence to volunteer as a cleaning lady. As on other occasions, she went there using the name of Maria, in order not to be recognized. However, one day someone recognized her and immediately all the resident priests knew that the woman who swept the floors of their residence was Conchita of Garabandal. From then on, nothing was the same. Conchita told me that when the priests discovered who she was, they changed the way they treated her. She said she was sorry that they had found out who she was because she felt better serving those elderly priests anonymously. Conchita was told, in a locution whilst at school in Pamplona in 1966, by Jesus Christ, "Love humility, simplicity. Never think that what you have done is much." Stunning words, indeed, but spoken with love. They should serve as a reminder that no matter who we are, or think we are, we must continually strive to do more good, to do so without thought of gain or personal honor, in short, to be humble.
GARABANDAL & FATIMA I feel ,as many do, that Garabandal is the continuation of Fatima. At Garabandal, Saint Michael first appeared to the visionaries in the evening (8:30 P.M.) of June 18, 1961, exactly 40 years to the day (and even the same time of day) from the last vision at Fatima. In the sixth apparition at Fatima on October 13, 1917, during the tableaux of visions during the Miracle of the Sun, Our Lady appeared as Our Lady of Mount Carmel with the scapular on her wrist. On July 2, 1961, the Virgin appeared at Garabandal as Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a large brown scapular draped over her right arm. When Our Lady appeared at Fatima in 1917 she did something she had not done before: she addressed messages specifically to the entire world. While she appeared again after Fatima at Beauraing (1932-33) and Banneux (1933), she did not speak to the world at either of those places. But at Garabandal we again find this universal appeal. Although Fatima and Garabandal are separate events there is continuity in the revelations and similarities in features of the events not found among the other visits of Our Lady during the Marian Age. It is interesting to note that the 3rd secret was supposed to be released after 1960,and when it was not, Mary appeared at Garabandal in 1961. See how the world did not heed Mary's Fatima warnings, so she stated them more profoundly at Garabandal.
Hi Glenn and others! I wonder about the web site www.garabandal.us. Could someone give information about the site and the NY Center?
The NY Center was closed after Joey's passing, and the house was sold. The site is still maintained by his wife Marilynn.

Feb. 18, 1963-( Joey ) " When I had my injury in 1947, I not only lost my eyes but I lost my sense of smell. So when I knelt down to receive Padre Pio’s blessing, and got the fragrance of roses that came from the wounds in his hands, I was startled and went against the wall with my arms up to protect myself; I didn’t know what it was. Padre Pio pulled down my hand and said in Italian, “Joey, don’t be afraid.” He then touched me on the bridge of my nose and my sense of smell was restored to me after being without it from the day of my accident in June 1947, which was 16 years."
MASS FOR PRAYER REQUESTS IN GARABANDAL Every last Thursday of the month, the Pastor of Garabandal offers a Mass for prayer requests. You have a few days to send your request by Wednesday, so it arrives on time. Requests sent using this form in Spanish ( below ) are received in the email address of the Parish. Then printed and delivered every Thursday the Pastor, to be deposited in an urn at the foot of the altar , through the intercession of Our Lady of Carmel, before the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the Chapel of San Sebastian de Garabandal. I have downloaded the English explanation, but you might want to use " Google Translate" or something like that to send your prayers in Spanish so they can read it. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE PRAYER REQUESTS HERE http://www.garabandalparroquia.com/en-union-de-oraciones
The nine Pines at San Sebastian de Garabandal are what remains from a small plantation of pines organized in 1947 by the Mayor of the village, Serafin Gonzalez, Conchita's grandfather on her father's side. Conchita 's Grandfather Serafin, in his younger years when he was the mayor of the village, had the idea that every child, in commemoration of his or her First Holy Communion would plant a pine tree on the heights above the village as a symbol for his or her life. Of those planted, nine survived and grew into massive trees, at the place to which the Virgin Mary referred ' saying: "God loves this place very much. This place is sacred." Today they are called "los pinos" and we await the great Miracle announced by the visionary children. Mary said "It will be the greatest miracle that my Son, Jesus, will have ever performed for mankind. It will also be the last one before the end”. View attachment 7468 Here is the funny (and miraculous ) story Joey told me, of when he was buying his house. As most of you know, the Blessed Mother appeared at the 9 Pine trees in Garabandal and that’s where the future Miracle will be. He and his wife Marilyn went to buy a house on Long Island, NY , because he converted the one he was living in , into the NY Garabandal Center. The person who was showing them a perspective house was describing the outside of the house to Joey. The Real Estate person mentioned the beautiful Pine trees that lined one side of the house. They asked ,"how many pine trees are there ? The real estate person said " 9 " ! …. " We'll take the house ! "
Here is the latest Critique of the Movie from the Films twitter feed (I translated it) José María Aresté -Director of DeCine21, Educacine Festival and BCN Film Fest Sant Jordi- has just published his critique on «Garabandal, only God knows» on the web of Cinema 21. And he encourages us to continue working with these words: «Que new film projects made with so much care and desire. There is nothing like putting the heart in what is done ». The Virgin visits Cantabria Film about the news of apparitions of the Virgin in the Cantabrian village of Garabandal at the beginning of the 60s of the last century. Four girls-Conchita, Jacinta, Mari Loli and Mari Cruz-assure first that an angel appears to them, and then the Virgin Mary. The local parish priest makes first inquiries and warns the hierarchy, while the Civil Guard brigade tries to maintain order in the face of the interest aroused and the influx of visitors. Supported by a catholic producer, and attacked with scarce means and without professional actors by the unknown filmmaker Brian Alexander Jackson, the effort to carry out the project, and the solidity of the final result, although it is perfect, is striking. There is a lack of agility and grace to the narrative, perhaps because of the effort to adjust to what is known about what happened, without pretending to say more than what the Church has officially said about the case. So basically we are witnesses of different moments of apparitions and ecstasies, of the reactions of some faithful and of the investigations of a diocesan commission appointed for the purpose to dictate what is true, but whose steps are dictated by a rationalism and disbelief that leave little margin to the possibility that that is authentic. In this sense the scheme we see recalls other films of Marian apparitions, the Virgin of Lourdes and Fatima, and serves to illustrate how this type of cases are not contemplated lightly or by the ecclesiastical authorities, who fear that they want to cheat to simple people, curious or uninformed, or that they are cases of autosug The most successful is the drawing of two characters, the civil guard brigade that within their doubts leaves room for mystery, played by Fernando García Linares, and the main clairvoyant, Conchita, incarnates Belén Garde, and who uses his smile very well beatific, and who knows how to give it a charming simplicity. As in other films of these characteristics, sometimes go to idle and a "heavenly" music, which works although they may sound hackneyed resources. There are emotional moments that reflect the spiritual fruits among some of those who come to Garabandal.
A GREAT LENTEN MESSAGE ! At age 16 Conchita was already was spiritually wise: "There is no point in our believing in the apparitions if we do not heed the message." (Star on the Mountain, p. 118 ) “To guess at dates regarding the [prophesied] Miracle shows a lack of faith in the Blessed Virgin .Indeed, the energies expended on this are so much better spent on living the Message! “ March 2013 Glenn’s conversation With all of the arguing over which of the different visionary’s is right, predicting dates, the future of our new Pope, the direction of the church, I've learned one thing, its all distracting, and detracting from our spiritual goals. The best advice I ever got was from Conchita ( when I asked her about the direction of all these things) ,she talked about maintaining your spiritual life (Confession, penance ,mass, communion, the rosary, etc. ) and she said " I surround my self with good people, pray and don't worry " . ( Sounds like she took the advice of her friend Padre Pio )
Don't try to fool our Blessed Mother ! Two couples approached Conchita and gave her four wedding rings, so that in her next ecstasy she would give them to be kissed by the Virgin. As Conchita offered the rings to Our Lady, she was heard to say: "You don't want to kiss them? But I don't understand. Ah! So I have to tell them to straighten out their lives and be good?" After the ecstasy, Conchita returned the rings to the man who had given them to her and told him and his companions what the Virgin had said. He was very embarrassed and said, "We came here to prove Garabandal was false if the girls gave us back the rings on our fingers, because none of us are married and we only bought the rings for this occasion." In another story, While in ecstasy the girls used to give wedding rings to Our Lady to kiss, and then always looking upwards and guided by the Virgin, they would return the wedding rings placing them directly on the fingers of the owners, never making a mistake, even though sometimes the husband would be on one side of the room and the wife on the other. On one occasion, while returning wedding rings to a couple, Mari Loli in ecstasy, was heard to say: "Why do I have to put this on the left hand? Ah, because they are from Valencia!" (that was their custom ). Reprinted with kind permission from GARABANDAL JOURNAL, MAY-JUNE 2003
Pope says Paul VI will be declared a saint this year ! https://www.ncronline.org/news/vatican/pope-says-paul-vi-will-be-declared-saint-year For those of you who don't know, Pope Paul VI interviewed Conchita and was convinced of the authenticity of her story and the apparitions, and was a great defender of Garabandal.
MARY'S VOICE IS HEARD ! August 4,1961 OUR BLESSED MOTHER'S VOICE IS HEARD ! Conchita recounts the the story in the book "Our Lady comes to Garabandal" . She said " I was returning from the fields,we met my Godmother Maximina Gonzalez, she was very excited and said this to us "Do you know the voice of the Blessed Virgin has been heard on a tape recorder ?" " What did she say I asked ? " She replied " Loli and Jacinta asked her (The Blessed Virgin) "Speak, Please Speak" and the people heard an answer : " No, I wont speak " . My Godmother told me that people began to cry because they were very moved at having heard the Blessed Virgin's voice. You can download this story from the book ,"SHE WENT IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN" CHAPTER 7 on page 156. Dr. Luis Morales changes mind on Garabandal ! On September 3, 1978, my first visit with Dr. Morales was recorded in its totality with his consent and lasted two hours. During the interview he was somewhat reserved in explaining his change of position on Garabandal and finally, because of my insistence, he said, "Now I see the existential reality of Our Lady in Garabandal. I think of Garabandal as Fatima: a gift of Divine Providence for humanity. Garabandal truly is a gift to us from Christ through his Mother..." At the end of the interview he answered my last question by saying, "Oh, yes! Garabandal has been a manifestation of Divine Grace...!" A typed copy of this conversation was presented to Bishop del Val. He reacted with a mixture of surprise and satisfaction to the change of opinion of Dr. Morales. February 8, 1979, I had a second interview with Dr.Morales and found him calm, happier and very open. In this friendly atmosphere he answered my pointed questions by saying that he accepted Garabandal as supernatural and that the messages came directly from God. Then he told me how, a month before his wife died of cancer, he had borrowed from another cancer patient a crucifix kissed by the Virgin of Garabandal and presented it to his wife to kiss. Her pains disappeared and she remained with interior peace until the end. He also told me, with evident joy, that the patient from whom he'd borrowed the crucifix miraculously recovered completely from his cancer and now works in a bank. This should be enough to illustrate to the reader the position of the Church on Garabandal. To understand the apparently long wait from the ecclesiastical authorities to pronounce a judgment on Garabandal it is convenient to remember that when the Fatima apparitions occurred in 1917 the Church never made a pronouncement until 1930, when the Bishop of Leiria made a short statement about them. Signed: Father Francis A. Benac, S.J., Bombay, India Reprinted with kind permission from GARABANDAL JOURNAL November-December 2005 * For those of you who don't know, Dr. Morales was the Chief Medical Examiner for the first Investigative Commission, who tried to discredit the apparitions. Is amazing that everyone who was hand picked by the Bishop for that committee eventually retracted their negative opinion.
COMMISSION PRIEST RESIGNS ! Padre Lucio Rodrigo was consulted by the members of the "Special Commission" in the second half of the month of August 1961. Following this encounter with the renowned Spanish theologian, Don Juan Antonio del Val,( the future bishop of Santander ). . .,he resigned from the "Commission." [Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, page 100] What does it say about this " Commission" when its OWN investigative Priest resigns ? Del Val Gallo later becomes the Bishop of Santandar ,and he lifts the ban on priests to say mass there, and more importantly ,he initiates a new investigation Committee ,who findings are much different from the first bogus Commission, and they are sent to the Vatican. ( * also note the first Commission , never sent a report to the Vatican because they could not verify their claims, because they had no witnesses interviewed, they never even interviewed the girls or their families ! )
@Glenn I would like to buy this "Garabandal" book, but I didn't found it anywhere in the internet. Can you give me a source or is this book available as a PDF download?
Okay, thank you Glenn for your answer! After all, I have purchased the three-volume illustrated book from the US: "She Went in Haste to the Mountain" (Paperback, 1965) by Eusebio, O.F.M.
