Fatima, Thank you so very much. We need the prayers. I prayed this morning at Mass also. I feel more accepting now after the prayers, yours, others, ours. Today at lunch I said it out loud to my small family, " we may have to evacuate if this storm heads our way." Husband and son understood. We just don't know at this time just what will happen, but we need to think it out now and be ready. I also know that our country really does deserve the wrath of God. He needs to update his knowledge of structural history. Where I live, next to the Mississippi, there are buildings that were built in the late 1800s that are still in use. They are built of brick and mortar, nothing reinforced, with many of them having been grandfathered in when new standards were enacted. (I should know -- I'm living in one.) When there is no reinforcement of masonry, then yes, a 3.0 to 4.0 earthquake can knock down buildings. The areas next to the rivers, up and down the Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio Rivers are all historical districts. New structures have to meet structural building codes, older ones don't for the most part, only things like fire exits and other safety issues. Locals want to keep these older buildings around because they're historical, so unless there is something else going on (like being in a flood plain) these buildings (up to 4 stories tall) will be staying around and are vulnerable to earthquakes.

HH, we used to live on the Oregon coast and would get horrific wind and rain storms. One storm came with 165 mph winds and we only lost a few shingles and our power for a week. This prayer always covered us safely under God's care.
