Category 6? If Hurricane Irma Becomes The Strongest Hurricane In History, It Could Wipe Entire Cities Off The Map
    Michael Snyder
Meteorologists have been shocked at how rapidly Hurricane Irma has been strengthening, and they are already warning that if it hits the United States as a high-level category 5 storm the devastation would be absolutely unprecedented. Of course, we are already dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and many experts are already telling us that the economic damage done by that storm will easily surpass any other disaster in all of U.S. history. But there is a very real possibility that Hurricane Irma could be even worse. According to the National Hurricane Center, at 5 PM on Friday Irma already had sustained winds of 130 miles per hour. But it is still very early, and as you will see below, next week it is expected to potentially develop into a category 5 storm with winds of 180 miles per hour or more.

I suppose that it is appropriate that such a powerful storm has a very powerful name. In old German, the name “Irma” actually means “war goddess”

The name Irma is a German baby name. In German the meaning of the name Irma is: Universal, from the Old German ‘irmin’. War goddess.

Irma began forming on Wednesday, and it intensified at a faster rate than any storm that we have seen in nearly 20 years

Hurricane Irma formed early Wednesdayin the warm waters off the coast of West Africa — and took just 30 hours to strengthen to a Category 3. That’s the fastest intensification rate in almost two decades. By Friday afternoon, the storm had also grown noticeably larger in size with a well-defined eye, a classic sign of a strong hurricane.

Though Irma poses no immediate threat to land, the outlook is ominous: In the Atlantic, Irma is expected to pass through some abnormally warm waters — the primary fuel source for storm systems. The official National Hurricane Center forecast says it will remain at major hurricane status for at least the next five days, and, in a worst-case scenario, Irma could eventually grow into one of the strongest hurricanes ever seen in the Atlantic.

So how powerful could Irma eventually become?

According to Michael Ventrice of the Weather Channel, Irma could easily become a “super typhoon” with “sustained speeds of over 180mph”

Veteran USA forecaster Michael Ventrice posted the track model on Twitter overnight and warned it looked like the storm could be a “super typhoon”, with sustained speeds of over 180mph.

He wrote: “These are the highest windspeed forecasts I’ve ever seen in my 10 yrs of Atlantic hurricane forecasting.

    “Irma is another retiree candidate.”

The scale we have right now really never envisioned storms that powerful. In fact, some have suggested that we need to add a “category 6” to describe the kind of “super storms” that are now developing in the Atlantic.

Ugh. This guy says it's heading right for Chesapeake bay 9/10. I'm supposed to visit the Chesapeake for two days with my oldest son while he's home from the Norbertines on 9/11-9/12.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't seriously concerned about this next storm.

We're supposed to be heading to Woolford, MD but we can just cancel our trip. If you need to temporarily relocate please do so! (You're welcome to come up here to Hollidaysburg PA. We're far enough west in the mountains that we shouldn't be greatly affected.)

    Not sure where Woolford is
    I just viewed this video
    Terrifying
    We might have to evacuate
    Thanks for the invite
Let's keep praying that God has mercy
    And sends Irma away
We are on Western shore of bay south of state capital Annapolis

Perhaps it's time to take Jesus at His Word and PRAY this Storm and all the Clear & Present Storms "Out to Sea"!!

    Matthew 17:20
"Jesus said to them: Because of your unbelief. For, amen I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove from hence hither, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you."

    GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!

North Korea claims it has made a hydrogen bomb
    [IMG]
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- North Korean state media claims that its leader inspects the loading of a hydrogen bomb into a new ICBM.

There will be some skepticism about the claim from experts about Pyongyang's assertion that it has mastered hydrogen technology.

But Sunday's statement by the state run Korean Central News Agency will raise already high worries on the Korean Peninsula and in Washington that the North is closer to its goal of an arsenal of viable nuclear ICBMs that can reach the U.S. mainland.

KCNA said Sunday that leader Kim Jong-un inspected the loading of an "H-bomb into the ICBM" during a visit to the North's Nuclear Weapons Institute.

The North conducted two nuclear tests last year alone. The first involved what it claims to have been a hydrogen bomb and the second was its most powerful ever.

  8. Maybe God will have mercy for Trump's declared "day of prayer" tomorrow:

Trump’s National Day of Prayer Follows Tradition of Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan

President Donald Trump’s proclamation that Sunday, September 3, shall be a National Day of Prayer for the victims of Hurricane Harvey follows a tradition first established by George Washington and continued by presidents including Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, as well as being ratified by Congress.

“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than those of the United States,” Washington declared in his first Inaugural Address, the first words uttered by a president of the United States.

Please Mother of God friends, let's pray together that Hurricane Irma, by the Grace of God, will fizzle out and become a small tropical storm when it hits Florida.

Yes, I'm near St. Augustine, a little west near the St. Johns River, and I am afraid. Mathew did a lot of damage to St. Augustine and North Florida, people are still recuperating from that mess.

Possible explosion, located near the site where North Korea has detonated nuclear explosions in the past. If this event was an explosion, the USGS National Earthquake Information Center cannot determine its type, whether nuclear or any other possible type.

A 6.3 quake would put this in the 200 KT range. Thermo nukes.

There was a smaller quake detected 8 mins after the first. Somewhere around the 4.6 range which could be a cave in of the original explosion. The original quake was on the hour just like the past tests.

So what exactly happened? Did the explosion cause the earthquake? Or are they misinforming the public?

Hello Byron, I have a lot of cousins and uncles in the Miami area. It may still be too early for the exact landfall, so the entire east coast is a target still. We should know by Wednesday of next week. Let's pray that it fizzles out.

From what I have gathered the quake was the explosion. The previous quakes were in the 5.6 range which calculates out to around a 30 Kilo ton yield. A 6.3 is orders of magnitude higher, in the 200 Kilo ton range which would have to be thermo. Their leader reportedly posed for photos today with an ICBM supposedly being loaded with a thermonuclear weapon.

The secondary quake was likely the cave in of the first explosions hole created in the earth. There are some reports on twitter that damage was incurred on the border with China.

Just received this from someone I know in Australia

Australia is being hit very hard this winter with the flu epidemic and there has been numerous deaths. Mostly they are in nursing homes but the hospitals and Doctor surgeries are full of sick people every day. I think last month alone they recorded over 30,000 cases and we are told the number now exceeds over 80,000 reported cases.
I hope it doesn't make its way to Europe and the UK for your winter.

North Korea Says It Tested a Hydrogen Bomb Meant for ICBMs
    By CHOE SANG-HUN
    September 2, 2017

North Korea released a photo Sunday of what it said was a hydrogen bomb that could be fitted onto a missile. Hours later, it carried out its sixth nuclear test.

    Korean Central News Agency

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea carried out its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on Sunday, saying it had detonated a hydrogen bomb that could be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The test, which the North called a “complete success,” came hours after Pyongyang announced it had developed such a weapon. It was an extraordinary show of defiance by its leader, Kim Jong-un, against President Trump, who has threatened to bring “fire and fury” to the North if it continues to threaten the United States with nuclear missiles.

But it was unclear whether the North had in fact tested a hydrogen bomb, a far more powerful weapon than the atomic bombs it has tested in the past.

A seismic tremor detected at 12:36 p.m., emanating from the Punggye-ri underground nuclear test in northwestern North Korea, set off a scramble to determine whether the North had carried out another test. The South’s military soon confirmed that it had.

The United States Geological Survey estimated that the quake had a magnitude of 6.3. The South Korean Defense Ministry’s estimate was much lower, at 5.7, but even that would mean a blast “five to six times” as powerful as the North’s last nuclear test, a year ago, said Lee Mi-sun, a senior analyst at the South Korean Meteorological Administration.

The blast was so powerful that the first tremor was followed by a second, weaker one minutes later, which the United States Geological Survey called a “collapse.” The second tremor was detected in China but not in South Korea; officials in the South said that would be consistent with a cave-in at the North’s underground test site.

Just last week, North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan, sharply escalating tensions in the region. In July, Pyongyang launched an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the American mainland, and the North responded to Mr. Trump’s “fire and fury” rhetoric by threatening to fire missiles into waters around Guam, a United States territory that is home to military bases.
