From today's 2nd reading at mass:
2 Peter 1:19 So we have confirmation of what was said in prophecies; and you will be right to depend on prophecy and take it as a lamp for lighting a way through the dark until the dawn comes and the morning star rises in your minds.

This verse jumped out at me.

On a previous post I had stated that the Virgin in Garabandal in 1965, stated that MANY CARDINALS, MANY BISHOPS, AND MANY PRIESTS ARE ON THE PATH OF PERDITION AND THEY TAKE MANY SOULS WITH THEM
I forgot about this interview with Sr. Lucia that I had found here.
    http://unveilingtheapocalypse.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-new-fatima-revelation-in-closer.html

Sr. Lucia herself gave some insight into the meaning of the Secret of Fatima during an interview with Fr Augustin Fuentes in 1957, which specifically identifies it with the combat between the Dragon and the Woman Adorned with the Sun in Rev 12, when Satan drags down a third of the stars from heaven. Note that the below words are strikingly similar to Pope Benedict XVI's contention (outlined during his pilgrimage to Fatima in 2010) that the content of the Third Secret can be related to the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church - which is also highly suggestive of Satan dragging a third of the stars from heaven:

Father, the devil is in the mood for engaging in a decisive battle against the Blessed Virgin. And the devil knows what it is that most offends God and which in a short space of time will gain for him the greatest number of souls. Thus, the devil does everything to overcome souls consecrated to God, because in this way, the devil will succeed in leaving the souls of the faithful abandoned by their leaders, thereby the more easily will he seize them.
That which afflicts the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus is the fall of religious and priestly souls. The devil knows that religious and priests who fall away from their beautiful vocation drag numerous souls to hell... The devil wishes to take possession of consecrated souls. He tries to corrupt them in order to lull to sleep the souls of lay people and thereby lead them to final impenitence...

“Father, the Blessed Virgin did not tell me that we are in the last times of the world, but I understood this for three reasons:

“The first is because she told me that the Devil is engaging in a battle with the Virgin, a decisive battle. It is a final battle where one party will be victorious and the other will suffer defeat. So, from now on, we are either with God or we are with the Devil; there is no middle ground.

“The second reason is because she told me, as well as my cousins, that God is giving two last remedies to the world: the Holy Rosary and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And, being the last remedies, that is to say, they are the final ones, means that there will be no others.

“And the third, because in the plans of the Divine Providence, when God is going to chastise the world He always first exhausts all other remedies. When He sees that the world pays no attention whatsoever, then, as we say in our imperfect way of talking, with a certain fear He presents us the last means of salvation, His Blessed Mother.

If we despise and reject this last means, Heaven will no longer pardon us, because we will have committed a sin that the Gospel calls a sin against the Holy Spirit.

It is worth comparing these words with Pope Benedict's comments on the Third Secret below:

    Father Lombari:

You were asked if the message could be extended, beyond the attack on John Paul II, to other sufferings on the part of the Popes. Is it possible, to your mind, to include in that vision the sufferings of the Church today for the sins involving the sexual abuse of minors?

    ...Holy Father:

As for the new things which we can find in this message today, there is also the fact that attacks on the Pope and the Church come not only from without, but the sufferings of the Church come precisely from within the Church, from the sin existing within the Church. This too is something that we have always known, but today we are seeing it in a really terrifying way: that the greatest persecution of the Church comes not from her enemies without, but arises from sin within the Church, and that the Church thus has a deep need to relearn penance, to accept purification, to learn forgiveness on the one hand, but also the need for justice.

Cameroon: bishop was killed for opposing gay clerics, priest charges

    August 07, 2017

Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala of Bafia, Cameroon, was murdered because he opposed homosexuals in the clergy, according to a leading priest in his diocese.

At a memorial Mass for the deceased prelate, Msgr. Joseph Akonga Essomba charged that powerful individuals had arranged Bishop Bala’s death; he hinted that politicians were in league with homosexual priests. Gesturing toward government officials who were in attendance at the memorial service, he denounced “all those people in black suits and black spectacles... pretending to sympathize.” He added: “These are the people who killed out bishop, because he said No to the homosexuality perpetrated by those priests.”

The Catholic bishops of Cameroon have charged that Bishop Bala was tortured and murdered. A police investigation produced a report—backed by an independent autopsy—that the bishop died by drowning. Archbishop Samuel Kleda Doula, the president of the country’s episcopal conference, has rejected the autopsy report, insisting the the bishop’s body showed clear signs of torture.

Bishop George Nkuo of Kumbo said: “He was killed because he stood for the truth.”

Media outlets in Cameroon reported that masked men visited the home of Msgr. Akonga Essomba in the evening after he delivered his fiery homily. The priest, who was not at home that evening, dismissed rumors that there had been an attempt on his life.

Here is a more in depth article.

There is a distinct difference it seems in the African bishops' views. Below is an excerpt:

While Bishop Andrew Nkea of the Mamfe diocese, in Cameroon’s southwest region, said the real reasons for the murder can only be explained by the assassins, his colleague from Kumbo in the northwest region, Bishop George Nkuo, offered a more spiritual explanation.

“The same reasons for which Christ was crucified apply to the killing of the bishop,” he told Crux. “He was killed because he stood for the truth. Any pastor, any bishop, any priest who stands for the truth should be ready to face the sword. It’s a beautiful way to die.”

The Bishop of Obala, Sosthéne Léopold Bayemi, said Bala’s death has strengthened his own faith in Christ, and gives him the “certitude that the rock on which Christ founded his Church will always resist the forces of evil,” he told Crux.

On the surface it would seem the Church in America and Europe are facing different issues than the Church in Africa. If we look carefully, it is actually not so. On all three continents, JoeJerk is infiltrating the Church with sexual deviants as evidenced by homosexual rings among the clergy. To stand against such perversion in the Northern Hemisphere results in ridicule, censure, and lawsuits. To do so in Africa risks one's very life. Methods differ, but the enemy is the same. Sexual sins along with transgender identity have become satan's favorite tools to promote division and persecution.

I must admit I admire the willingness to confront the enemy head-on as done in Africa. but then, it's easy me for to make such a claim in the peace of my Upstate home east of Lake Ontario.

We are in the final confrontation, my friends. The enemy is attacking on all fronts. Help us, Dear Lady!

When the msm uses the label conservative in such a way it's like they are putting people in a ghetto, the ghetto of 'backward' and 'fundamentalists.' That is what the Spadaro article does. There is no argument at all, it is just a complex form of name calling in order to SEPARATE those 'conservative' or 'fundamentalist' Christian from 'us' the 'mainstream' Catholics of the new Church. How sad that a priest may think in this way, completely dismissing a debate about the truth and the priests mission of gathering his sheep. If he really thought that Christian 'fundamentalists' are derailed, in the way Luther or other heretics were, he will try to bring them back to the heart of the Church. But the reality is that this people see the Church as a horizontal organization, where they are now the ones calling the shots and constructing the mainstream opinion and what it means to be Catholic...they are post structuralists at their core...and one wonders how does the Crucified Christ fit in this worldly vision of the Church.

As an American Catholic living in the "Bible Belt", I find the article above truly insulting, not only to myself, but also to the many God loving Protestants I call friends. Yes, there is an alliance forming between us. While some may be "haters" and "wall builders", most of us love God and are heartbroken by the immorality and darkness, not only in America, but all over the world. We voted for Trump not because we completely back him as a person or President, we recognized how horrible a Clinton presidency would have been. Catholics and Protestants, at least in the South, are starting to find more in common as we see our Country being taken over by others who seem to be trying to wipe God and His Laws out, while mocking and stigmatizing us as" Crazy Fundamentalists". Now, we are being mocked by some leaders in our Church. I do not take marching orders from George Soros and company! We find the killing of the unborn horrifying and fight for Holy Matrimony! We want to love the migrants, but understand that a country should also have immigration laws! Yes, these are some of the things we Catholics and Protestants are together fighting for! Climate change, though relevant, is not at the top of our list!
Thank God, as Pope Benedict said, "We know who wins in the End!"

Modern Catholics ‘too wishy-washy’, says Scottish archbishop

In an essay for Crux, Archbishop Philip Tartaglia (Scotland) said “too many believers” have submitted to secular values and failed to stress their faith.

When challenged by secularism, the archbishop said, many Catholics avoid saying they “really believe in anything supernatural; in anything they can’t see or touch or experience; or in anything beyond modelling and encouraging decent behaviour”.

“Too many believers no longer talk about Jesus winning salvation for the sinful but instead point to him as a moral ideal of what humans should strive for.
(This is what is predicted in how the AC will deal with Jesus....moral person, nothing special) We accommodate. We compromise. We avoid conflict — even when conflict is the only proper course. We are too wishy-washy, as we would say in Scotland.”

Archbishop Tartaglia was referring to arguments developed by Scottish moral philosopher John Haldane.

“Once upon a time, Catholics longed for and worked for the conversion of others, including a nation’s cultural elites,” the archbishop added. “Now many of our Catholic leaders, intellectuals and academic institutions bend over backwards to assure the gatekeepers of culture and prestige that they’re just as right-thinking as they are.”

And speaking to American Catholicism (must be far worse in Scotland and elsewhere in Europe to compliment here)......

“For 15 years in this country, your mass media have hammered away at the Church on the abuse issue, often fairly, but often not. But most of your people haven’t wavered. They support Catholic schools. They support your Catholic charitable ministries. They love their parishes, and they trust and respect their pastors with a high degree of confidence. That doesn’t stop them from complaining, but people complain when they want to belong and believe that it’s worth staying. It’s part of a normal family life.”
