According to the news it seems the Sisters of Charity running the maternity hospital is causing a massive uproar, with petitions being signed and everything. It is amazing such an issue is being made of it. Things appear to be getting more confrontational, which is probably a sign of where we are at of how close we are in terms of victory over evil.

I'm sorry: could you please summarize what the problem is with the Sisters of Charity and the maternity hospital that's causing such an uproar?

Hi Muzhik, people are protesting at the fact that the Sisters of Charity are being put in ownership of the new maternity hospital being built in Ireland. People are complaining because of the perceived failings of the nuns in the past in regards to mother and babies particularly with regards to mother and baby homes for single mothers that existed in the past. Ireland has a very complicated history in relation to all this. People are afraid the new hospital will have a "Catholic ethos", as they put it, that things like abortion, IVF etc will not occur at the hospital because of it being in Catholic ownership. There are many in Ireland who are opposing the Church's input in healthcare, education etc.

The nuns are now threatening to pull the plug on the hospital amid all the hostility.

Fair play to them for not just rolling over. I'm sure they're well aware of the demonisation they are about to receive from the media and the blueshirt baby-butchers. Endalife will be taking what he perceives as the high 'moral' ground. I know my comment is political, but hasn't the course of the once very Catholic Fine Gael party been inevitable since their adoption of that social democratic stance, beloved of the Irish (satanic) Times, back in the sixties? It doesn't seem that long since Taoiseach of the time Liam Cosgrave voted against his own party's contraception bill, God bless him. His current successor, Herod Kenny, hasn't a principled bone in his body, bar political correctness at any cost.

Its true, they have sold out. You know his father, President W T Cosgrave, proposed that the second House of the Oireachtas should scrutinise legislation from the point of view of Catholic theology! So it has changed a lot alright.

So Pope Francis has appointed a new Papal Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo. I know nothing about him but apparently the ACP (Association of Catholic Priests, aka the Association of Closet Protestants) have welcomed the appointment, which is not a good sign. They were complaining that all of the bishops appointed under the previous Nuncio were "ultra-orthodox". That would include the bishop of my own diocese who, I am happy to say, gave the most wonderful homily at my niece's Confirmation last week, talking about Fatima (he even mentioned the vision of hell, and how hell is real), the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, the importance of Confession and praying the Rosary. If only we had more priests and bishops like him...

I also know nothing about him, but his name is both biblical and African, which is encouraging. Hopefully the extreme political correctness of the ACP inhibited them from criticising the appointment of a black Papal Nuncio.

Update: a quick 'google' indicates that he seems orthodox.

I hope you are right, I tried googling but all I got were articles about his appointment to Ireland with not much other info about him.

I don't know has anyone else heard the stories that many priests in Ireland no longer wear their collars in public and similarly with nuns and their habits. What do people make of this? Do you think they are justified in doing this? The Church in Ireland is definitely in crisis if it is at this stage. I know may good priests who still wear their collars in public and are not afraid to testify. I can understand how many of them are apprehensive though because the media is fuelling so much hatred.

As you say, many might feel intimidated. Some, however probably lack conviction or are even embarrassed.

Nuns had begun to abandon their habits long before the modern hostilities. I'm tempted to suspect that this is due to feminism on the one hand, and on the other a loss of faith by some who see their role more as social workers than being devoted to Christ.

I am encouraged to hear such of your new bishop and would be interested to know which diocese, if that is not too personal or intrusive, Adoremus.

I would also be interested to hear ANYTHING MORE of any of the bishops appointed in recent years. It is interesting to hear ACP call them "ultra-orthodox". How much truth is there to that I wonder.

Very grateful for any thoughts at all about recent appointments of Bishops which went through the last nuncio ...

Hi Roger, I will PM you with the personal details. Suffice it to say here that our bishop was appointed by Papal Nuncio Charles Brown, he is orthodox and traditional and, unsurprisingly, not overly popular with the clergy, who see him as "a bit right-wing" (in the words of one priest) but loved by the more traditionally-minded and also by children because he has a lovely way with kids. :)

It is amazing how much the nuns are being demonised in Ireland at the moment. Reading some of the comments online many think that the nuns actually murdered those babies in Tuam, which is an outlandish claim to make.

Christians, be they lay or clergy, have been demonized, persecuted and targeted for violence since 33AD! The Lord & Apostles told us it would be so .... and so it goes. From the Coliseum to Islam to any socialist revolution ya can name ...... French, Mexican, Marxist and Maoist ..... plus the horrid "Christian vs. Christian Religious Wars" post Reformation (including Ireland). Now we have The Global/One World godless Media and their puppets in worldwide Left-Liberal political parties. These parties all aligned mysteriously, now, with Islam when not so long ago Jews were a favored "Victim Group". It seems to me that there are four stages of persecution:
    1) Mocking, 2) Demonization/Libel, 3) Legislation against and 4) Extermination. In majority Muslim areas, it's already Stage Four.:( Well into Stage Three elsewhere.:(:( It pains me greatly that in these past 50 years all too many Church "Leaders" have a chosen to side with The Global Left-Liberal Cabal. We were warned long ago that it would be so. I'm so sorry for those here that live in countries without a Bill of Rights and in Blue USA Areas where they have surrendered their Rights. Pray, Prepare and Form-Up with Believers ..... otherwise .... Ya ain't got a chance!! ..................... What will be "The Trigger"? .... Eh!!???:

Padraig recently posted on another thread about a saying of Saint Anthony the Great:

“A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, ‘You are mad; you are not like us.'”

Founding one's imagined knowledge of someone else on one's hatred and prejudice is certainly a form of madness. Hence it leads to conclusions that are the polar opposite of the truth.
