I have a question: Why is the Obamacare wrong and why does President Trump wants to replace it ? Just a question, because they are "attacking" me here, i.e., my boss says that because of Trump wanting to abolish Obamare, people who have cancer do not obtain anymore medical reimbursement for their treatment. Is that true ? Another question: why does Trump talk about "clean" coal, is this a joke ? Because coal can never be clean, or can it ?
1. Obamacare. Presumably, Trump does not believe in the welfare state. This is understandable as such schemes inevitably lead to national bankruptcy. Trump is quite confident that Obamacare will collapse in the near future in consequence of its intrinsic non-viability and has hinted that he will reach out to moderate Democrats to engineer a replacement if his own party is unable to muster a response. 2. Coal. Trump, rightly in my opinion, is not taken in with tales of 'global warming' and intends to encourage coal production, an industry which has apparently been suppressed in the US in recent years. There are certain kinds of coal that cause less smog when burnt than other kinds. Perhaps this is what he is referring to.

Doctors as well as insurance companies were forced out of health care so there are less choices in a country offering, in ideals only now, the best medicine in the world. Now numbers only. Such a world is influencing those good docs either to drop out or go into concierge medicine where people are willing to pay more for better care. And people resented paying for unused/unnecessary care for themselves in order to cover everyone else. Trump is trying to create a system where there is more competition in plans/insurance methods in order to cover most without losing the incentive and hope for better health care due to a government control of doctors and patients, stifling ongoing development which also involves bringing drug costs down. With things heading more into holistic types of medicine drugs are getting more of a bad name in favor of properly supervised natural supplemental replacements that don't do as much harm. The drug companies have had a big say in medicine for too long. Obama's policies exposed their real intent of single payer health care where govt controls and mandates healthcare completely. And govt is the best at wasting and ruining just about everything it gets involved with....but lots of employment for more bureaucrats who are hard to fire!

I woke up that night at 3:00 AM precisely. This is very unusual for me and when it happens I pray. I was vaguely aware that there were people who were going to be trying to cast hexes on our President but I give this little mind, I will take note of this going forward. Hi Elisa, this may become long winded but that is only because it is a very complicated matter. Don't play their game. Obamacare was designed from the beginning to become so financially burdensome that the people would then want a "single payer" solution for health care. That single payer solution would be offered by our government and when the government has control of health care they have control over peoples lives. It is akin to communism in many peoples eyes. Obamacare (or the American care act ACA) has caused insurance rates to skyrocket. Many of the insurance carriers are no longer offering their insurance plans in areas because the costs of these plans are higher than the intake of fees for coverage. Leaving the insurance companies in the red and not making a profit unless they streamline care. While also leaving American families with coverage that is more expensive in many cases than their home mortgages for coverage that has very high deductibles and is in essence only considered to be catastrophic care like in the event of a major illness such as cancer etc. Our coverage for instance even with a major illness such as mine will not reach the deductible limit before the end of the year unless something goes very wrong and even in that case I will accrue large expenses to pay my share for that additional coverage. In 2015 I paid in addition to our health care insurance fees (which were $12000 for my family) an additional $16000 out of my pocket due to illness. I am thankful that I was financially able to pay these bills but many people can not afford the high costs of care. My experience while having a chronic disease for many years was that the first thing to happen was that my employers insurance rates increased dramatically. The next thing to happen was that my primary Doctor of 20+ years had to close her practice due to the changes to our health care system that were included in this bill causing her to need to spend large sums of money to stay in compliance with the law. She could no longer afford to stay in business due to these regulations. When you consider that a specialist such as herself (Rheumotologist) deals with people who are usually using government provided health care (due to the severity of the disease) and that the fees are fixed that the government will pay her (Medicare) so her income levels are generally fixed when she has a full patient roster to care for. One of the consequences of Obamacare has been that private practices were driven out of business. This also sent those patients to corporate run health care centers that are run in my opinion like a conveyor belt in a factory but for medical practice. AKA Streamlined care according to corporate practices. Some people who I speak with were very worried that Obamacare would be discontinued a few weeks back when the congress was to take a vote on overturning it but this did not happen. The concern lies with those like me who have major illnesses but who are unable to work or are only able to work part time. Many do not make enough to cover the cost of even their health insurance coverage anymore. As it stands now, my wife works full time and she brings home a very meager paycheck so that our family continues to have health coverage because my illness worsened in May of last year such that I am no longer able to work. Now, I was always thoughtful of this since I have had this disease many many years now and I purchased insurance for many years to supplement my income should I ever have this situation arise. So, that along with savings and the blessing of the Lord, things have been OK for us and we are not impoverished due to my illness. Many people however are not in this situation. President Trump when he ran for office one of his campaign platforms was to overturn Obamacare. Because we have a need to cover the poor in our country he is proposing that both democrats and republicans come together to create a bill that will reduce costs, rely on the free market rather than government and cover the most impoverished in our nation. The problem we are facing is one that will not go away and will become much worse. Costs will increase until it is no longer bearable and lawmakers will either have to act or they will be voted out of office and people who will act will take their place. The alternative is that it will fail on its own and people who are sick will not receive care or will become financially impoverished. In Canada, there is government run health care. They took over the hospitals many of which were run by Catholic services and now have a service in which many Canadians come to America to receive care because simple things such as an MRI can take months to receive due to long waiting lists and bureaucracy. This was part of the decline in the Catholic faith in Canada as well but that is a whole different topic so I will not go into it. The topic of coal is equally complex but suffice it to say that the government has chosen winners and losers in our economy. Coal is on the losing end and as a result many people who's families relied on their professions in that industry have become impoverished. This was all part of the clean air legislation that was passed in the US. It has wiped out an entire industry and the jobs that support it and left a large segment of our nation in poverty in the name of clean air restrictions dictated by our government. The previous administration was ambivalent to these issues when it concerned these people and they voted for Trump because he promised to do something about it. I believe that he will but it will not happen overnight. Past presidents have abused their powers and have legislated via regulations and executive orders an agenda that many feel was not for the good of the people or the country. I would never offer my opinions on such things in the workplace if it were me. It has no place there and only serves to strain relationships that need to be good when working together toward common goals of your employer.

Of course I do not know what is your illness and I do not need to know it, but do you know that a lot of people have reuma and artritis etc. because of a lack of iodine ? Dr David Brownstein M.D. wrote a book "Overcoming Arthritis" and "Salt your Way to Health" and "Iodine why you need it, why you can't live without it". All very interesting stuff that conventional medecine is ignoring and very often because they have no winning part in it... Anyway, may God protect and heal you !
Yes, and thank you Elisa for your well wishes. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at things this disease has run in my family on both sides for many generations. Especially bad on my fathers side with the men and striking at usually a young age. I have tried so many different remedies over the years and still read much on it and try to keep up on the studies being done as well as encouraging others who are newly diagnosed. I have been on very restrictive diets for long periods of time as well among many many things. Fasting helps when it is very bad. I also avoid any foods with corn products in them as it seems to exacerbate my inflammation. Processed foods as well are off limits to me. One of the great things about my original rheumatologist was that she was very open to trying remedies outside the normally approved guidelines handed down. Now however, Doctors are afraid to go outside the lines of peer approved treatments because of the pressure placed on them by their employers. This is yet another result of the ACA. I am a firm believer that some people afflicted by maladies such as mine may see good results from changes to their diets or by adding things such as iodine or other minerals to their daily intakes. Such things however should be verified by medical tests and are easily done with the standard bloodwork that accompanies diseases such as mine. Also, to make sure no adverse affects are present. I must have blood work done monthly to keep track of my disease markers as well as monitoring my liver for unwanted side effects of the medications I am on now. For me personally none of these remedies gave lasting relief. I have had years of good health however while using some of the biologic drugs which came out in the late 90's and was very productive and successful in my career during this time until about 5 years ago. I soldiered on for 4 more years working until I was so sick I was unable to even drive my car. I have read many testimonies however by those who have had good results especially with dietary changes. Avoiding and eliminating any processed foods from their diets has helped many including a neighbor of mine. I hope that at some point that the waring factions of our government can come together to work toward a better solution to these problems we have with regard to medical care. It is a sign of a great community and civilization who cares for those who are ill through no fault of their own. There are many who do not see things this way, I hope that they never have to experience a major illness either personally or in their extended families. But I hope more that our Lord pierces their hardened hearts in whatever way he must.
Don, this is perhaps more suited to the health thread, but I concur with your belief that diet plays a huge part in our health. I am currently on an elimination diet for 7 days, eating a very restricted diet, and adding in more foods gradually. I have also fasted. My goals are to relieve arthritis and lose weight. In fact I already feel better and the pain is much reduced. It is very hard doing without tea and coffee though, especially if I discover that coffee is a culprit. The detoxing isn't pleasant - a brief headache and then backache for three days.... This is the first time I've ever attempted this kind of thing. What I hadn't realised is how healthy fasting is - the ancients got it right. And of course our faith recommends it.

I know it is really tough, I was on a Paleo diet for almost 15 months at one point before my doctor took me off of it due to weight loss. I have done elimination diets 3 times, once when I was first diagnosed back in the 90's for a week and then twice for two weeks a few years back when I was very very sick. I hope that you are OK with your coffee Clare, I love mine as well and I too was really worried about that one but both coffee and tea are OK for me in moderation I also have bad stomach problems now after 20 years of using ibuprofren. I can no longer take it or other NSAID type drugs at all. Take it very slow adding foods back to your diet and REALLY pay attention to how you feel. Even symptoms like a runny nose can also be a symptom of sensitivity so make sure that you keep a journal and record everything. If you don't find anything specific that may be aggravating things then you might consider seeing a dietitian and going through a sensitivity study if you are not now. It is much slower and your elimination diet will be longer but it is worth it. Many times these foods build up in our body and the cumulative affects of them are significant symptoms. Sometimes they can take months to get out of your system as well. My neighbor has found that he can partake in even the foods that cause his issues but only every now and then. This works out well for him because he can treat himself from time to time. It is really tough but I found that if I fast for a full 3 days that my inflammation levels will plummet. I have done this a few times when I am in really rough shape and it has given me much needed relief. Unfortunately, regardless of what I eat it usually returns but not with the severity that it had originally. At any rate, I hope that you reap great rewards for your diligence with this.

On one hand how many times have we said about terrible atrocities how governments sit back and do nothing just hold meeting after meeting and still nothing is done, this is unusual for us to see a no nonsense straight forward response.
