Mac, You can send whatever you want. Obedience to the Pope has been the road...many saints have taken. Those that have opposed the Pope... usually end up in a bad place. You guys enjoy the what ifs. Until something officially happens against the Holy Mother Church...i am loyal to Papa Francis. Like i told the other guy. Just let it go.
Usually the church has had good Popes. What about the saints that have resisted a bad Pope? Would you resist a bad Pope FS ?
You don't see it but these are the falls before the cross. He is just trying to save souls from a world full of possesed people. But Mac, you continue your path and i will follow mine. When the time comes, we will all have to choose. View attachment 5832
Yes we will have to choose.... We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel. “We must be prepared to undergo great trials in the not-too-distant future; trials that will require us to be ready to give up even our lives, and a total gift of self to Christ and for Christ.
The history of the Papacy is interesting in and of itself. There is no guarantee that Popes will be saints. There certainly have been some rogues. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bad_Popes
It is difficult and everybody on here seems to realise it's equivalent to walking a tight-rope. There is a difference between honest correction and disloyalty. It might be more disloyal to ignore what one honestly perceives as error. St. Catherine of Siena had no difficulty criticising popes, but also asserted one must remain loyal to the papacy even if satan himself sat on the throne. This is a difficult path to negotiate and must be approached with prayer. Considerable charity must be extended to all who walk this path. It's not easy for any of us.
Well, I see Mac has decided to ignore Padraig's request about avoiding discussing this topic. Cardinal Burke is very mistaken in the path he has taken and it doesn't matter how many videos and articles are made and posted that question the Pope's actions, he remains a most wonderful Pope who is leading those who listen to him to sanctity.
Yeah,my bad. Still,an EWTN interview should be an exception. Its not like I linked the latest Ferrara article. I am glad you have been lead to sanctity David.
Could you be more specific as to what Cardinal Burke has said or written that is "mistaken". As I listen to this short video with Raymond, I see his words as compassionate, charitable and faithful to what has been handed on through 2000 years of teaching. Just calling people 'rigid', 'Pharisees' etc... is not charity in itself, unless one can qualify these terms with with some evidence based on scripture or church teaching.
There was a fellow called Jesus, some time ago, boy, was He rigid. Mentioned Hell and Damnation more often than anybody else in the Bible, He did. I think He even said that any man who divorced his wife and marries another commits adultery. What a stickler, so rigid. And He never used the word 'accompany', not even once-what could He have known about Mercy? Now, some say, there's another dude going around saying different. These people say he's a walking, talking Holy Spirit, especially at high altitude. At a stretch, this sounds like, whatcha call it?...O yes, one of these incarnation yolkies.
Is Charlie Johnston waffling on his pledge to leave the scene if the transition occurs? I believe this is the first time he has talked about conditions in which he might make a comeback after the inauguration. From his latest blog post, in the comments: "Now, as I have said, if the inauguration goes on without incident, I will go away. In the last month, some people of substance have asked me if I would stay in the woods if, after a short time, things blew up anyway. One pointedly demanded of me how that would differ from pouting if I did. If I got that very major detail wrong, I would hope this is going to pass by and will retreat from the scene (while leaving the record up). If, however, things later blew up entirely, I would make my way back to work. And I will always be obedient to the legitimate authority over me. That is as much as I can say or really do. The key thing in all of this is not figuring out all the possible details, but to live with real fortitude under God your duty honorably throughout..."
Fatima, as you will appreciate, Padraig's wish is that we do not start discussing this matter again, a wish that I support. But let me just respond in as non-argumentative way that I can. The points you make are, of course, those made by the Cardinal and most of the traditionalists plus maybe others who do not see themselves as traditionalists. But I suggest you reflect on the behaviour of St Paul. Here was a very learned and intelligent man, totally steeped in the Jewish Law. He persecuted the Chistians much more savagely than the critics do with Pope Francis! Then he made his fateful journey to Damascus. What happened when he was told by his vision he was persecuting Jesus? Do you think Paul needed intellectual explanations for his error? No. After his vision, he understood. And that is why there is simply no point in trying to argue this matter. And it is, in part, why Pope Francis is correct in not responding to the four Cardinals.
Padraig didn't discourage discussion of this topic in order to implicitly encourage your viewpoint. Mind you, Pope Francis could do with a Damascene experience. In deference to Padraig, I was going to add that I've said too much, but, no, I haven't.
Since you brought up Paul, let's use him as an example. When he had differences with the first Pope did he keep quiet? No he did not. In fact when he was debating Peter, it was not on doctrine, but church discipline, which Peter had full authority, unhindered to do so. I guess Peter could have called him rigid or many other names, but no, he took what was said to him and changed Pope Peter's way of thinking. Was Peter wrong to dialog with a lesser authority? Did Peter marginalize Paul and reassign him or others he did not agree with? This is not what a pope does and it is not what Pope Francis should be doing. That is all I will say at this time.
