If they're pro-life, I can put up with their hatred, if such exists. Personally, although he is a Conservative rather than an Orthodox Jew, I was very impressed with Rabbi David Dalin's defense of Pope Pius XII in his book 'The Myth of Hitler's Pope'. His views were certainly 'orthodox', highly moral and not at all unsympathetic to the Catholic Church. I see no reason to believe that Orthodox Jews who share much of Dalin's orthodoxy and rigid morality would generally be very much different, but I could be completely wrong.

On the other hand, secular Jews seem to tend towards the more extreme end of the left/liberal spectrum.

Ultra Orthodox Jews in Israel would like to see Christian Churches close without a doubt. The Franciscan order has been able to calm them down a bit. Now American Orthodox Jews have much in common with our values. And they have partnered with Evangelicals in America for their view towards the land of Israel. But is Ivanka's husband devoted to the laws of God, or is he an opportunist? Is money his God?

I thought we were supposed to give all this a rest. Imagine if we all were just silent and prayed for a time and just said Jesus I trust in you, you take care of everything. Can you imagine what our offering of a sacrifice of silence and prayer could bring about?. If we were united in this? We could bring about miracles! Do not be disbelieving, but BELIEVE!

I'm aware of that, CrewDog, and I'm not suggesting for a minute that regular Orthodox Jews bear any animosity towards Christians. I'm convinced that the vast majority of Jews, like the vast majority of people of any faith, just want to be left alone to practice their faith in peace. Anyway, even if they did harbour animosity they wouldn't be inclined to act upon it in the USA. Israel is a different matter, where to the best of my knowledge most or at the very least a large number of Christians are Palestinians.

There have been cases of vandalism against churches in Israel which as far as I know is believed to be the work of an ultra-Orthodox sect of Judaism. Somewhere in the back of my mind there's a memory of protests against papal visits. Isn't there also some disagreement about the Upper Room which we Christians believe is the site of the Last Supper and Pentecost? Don't some Jews consider that to be the place where King David is buried, and object to Christians having access to it? Perhaps I'm mistaken. I'm fairly sure that I have also seen reports of some Christians being concerned about holding on to their land. Possibly isolated cases, but just because people aren't threatening you with decapitation doesn't mean you are free from discrimination.

Everyone worries about the Jews and Muslims in the Holy Land but the Christians are usually the meat in the sandwich and suffer disproportionately because nobody ever looks out for their interests. I was hoping to see an improvement with a Trump Presidency in the US. I continue to be hopeful.

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Just to add an extra bit of spice in the pot. I turned on the TV yesterday evening just to see '''what Donald Trump had for breakfast that day''' Did Trump brush his teeth. Did he change is underpants. Did he nod or wink at Putin. LOL

I don't know what it is like in USA but here it is just silly. Every Tom Dick and Harry has an opinion about Trump and what he did and did not do. What he said and did not say. How we have to just wait until Trump comes to see things that way Obama sees them. As if Trump has not ideas of his own and no advisors to guide him in the way of diplomacy. Sigh.

Julia isn't exaggerating. If Trump turns out to be the AC, or whatever is the equivalent in the eyes of the secular media across Europe, it will be the only thing they've got right in years. I blame the US media because they lead the way for journalists this side of the world. So far, they have blamed him for the rise of just about every anti-establishment party in Europe (parties that were already on the rise before he even threw his hat in the ring). It is comical, however, to watch the US media declare him a failure before he takes office. They base their judgement on his lack of popularity with European leaders who themselves could be replaced by the end of next year.

Dolours...do you get all of our tv networks? Fox, cnn, msnbc, NBC, cbs, and abc? You get it better than many us citizens.
Very few folks in the us follow European politics....unless there's is an uprising....or terrorism.

I get CNN. I also get CNBC and Bloomberg (money channels). Sometimes the British channels do the NBC or ABC Nightly News. I don't get Fox but have seen it a few times because my sister gets it via satellite. I also get BBC UK, BBC World, Sky News and France 24 and Euronews. Euronews isn't much of a news service but it's the most watched in Europe because it broadcasts in nearly every language. France 24 comes on in the middle of the night so I don't watch it often although it covers more events in Africa (mostly former colonies) than any other news service. I never bother with the Irish news because it's too parochial and their foreign coverage is just a rehash of the foreign channels.

I read some of the papers online if they aren't behind a paywall but the likes of the NYT allows a limited number of free views per month. Some German and French newspapers have online editions in English. Events in the US often affect the whole world, so it's natural for people in other countries to pay attention. It's just a pity that the news is so biased. Although Fox is belittled as a news service in Europe, from what I've seen of it, it's better than CNN. In my opinion, CNBC makes some attempt to appear balanced, probably because they would have more conservative viewers, and Squawk Box USA is probably the best of their programmes but they focus mostly on topics that would interest stock market investors. I wouldn't have a clue about investing even if I could afford it, but the financial channels pitch their message to people who are a little more discerning than those who swallow CNN's propaganda.

I get most of my news from Breitbart and Drudge. I wouldn't believe much from the mainstream now. I read no newspapers except for an occasional look at the increasingly fantastic Irish Independent (and only because its internet edition is free). I look at no television news. When I inadvertently overhear RTE news it's like hearing from another planet, so biased is its spin.

Wow, no wonder you are on top of things here! You use a lot of sources. I can't watch most of the mainstream media. They are too biased towards the liberal agenda. I might tune in to them just to see how they spin the news on a paticular topic. I had to see them in meltdown after the elections....I couldn't resist.
And you are right, Fox News is the choice of most conservative viewers in the USA. I'd bet they are belittled in Europe because they are too conservative.

    Talk radio
is another reliable outlet for conservative news. I listen to it during the day and only watch tv in the evening. We consider CNN in the tank for liberals.( CNN....Clinton News Network... As many of us refer to it) . It was CNN who gave Clinton questions to the debates in advance. MSNBC is uber liberal! We watch it for a good laugh....Until we can't take it anymore...lol.

If anyone had any question about network bias, I think this election defined all the network biases one way or another. From what I could discern, there was only one that favored trump....that was Fox News. They do so well because they have the monopoly of conservative/ Christian viewers. All other domestic networks .....in my opinion, lean to the left and were in the Tank for Hillary. On election night I thought they were all on the verge of tears.

Big media takeovers were in the works before the election. I hope they do not happen now. It gives too much power to too few outlets and won't allow for multiple dissenting opinion on issues. It is a monopoly we do not need.

Was it your opinion that Europes media bias was towards Clinton? How do they feel now? Are folks uneasy about Trump in Europe? That's the impression I'm getting? Hey, it's going on here in the USA with the liberal youth! Much of the protest are instigated by the Alinsky leftist gang. Seventy percent of these domestic protesters didn't even vote. Some are being paid daily just to protest. They advertise for protesters on Craigslist. Hey, at least trumps already getting some of the youth employed!

The reason I have all those channels is that they come as part of the cable TV package. I don't watch all of them - just dip in from time to time depending on what I'm interested in. As far as I know, Fox is only available via satellite. People in rural areas use a satellite service which often also includes other European news services, RT and Al Jazeera. I understand how you feel about CNN. That's how I feel about Irish news media so I ignore it all. I can live without it knowing that someone is bound to tell me if anything important happens here. I can tolerate CNN and the other channels because they're foreign which gives me a sense of detachment.

Trump is being portrayed as a potential Hitler right across the spectrum on European news channels, even on Sky News which is owned by the Murdochs who also own Fox. They are starting to ease off a little now because they realise that the US Presidency matters irrespective of the incumbent. All the European media have bought into the globalism agenda and are desperately trying to push its merits, claiming that it can't be rolled back. Slowing or stopping globalisation is what they fear most from Trump. I don't understand their desperation if they are so confident that it is irreversible. They can't promote opposition to globalisation as solely ultra right wing because many left wing groups are equally opposed to it. In fact, it was the left who opposed it from the very beginning. That's what will sink Hollande in France. For all his left wing credentials, he used Obama's phone and pen method to overturn a French law much beloved of the left. I can't remember the precise details, but it put the last nail in his coffin from the perspective of French workers.

The establishment and media approach is to portray all opposition to globalisation as "ultra" or "extreme" whether it be from the right or left. Any kind of adherence to national identity is labelled as fascist, which is incongruous to older Europeans raised on their parents' stories of surviving WW2. National identity must be redefined for globalisation to work, which probably explains what appears to be an orchestrated mass movement of people. In Europe, as in the US, the education system is geared towards brainwashing young people to see themselves first as citizens of some kind of utopian world without borders and prosperity for all. They are trying to use the US as a role model for a multi-cultural Europe. In doing so, they conveniently ignore the fact that small minorities of different cultures were assimilated into the US over centuries whereas it is being demanded that Europeans absorb and assimilate much larger numbers almost overnight. Hard to tell where it will all end.
