2016 Presidential Election Thread

Is there any prophecy that the illumination of conscience will bring people to repentance? God might show us where we're going wrong but He won't force us to change our ways.

 

ABC radio news at noon today played a recording of Donald Trump arriving to vote in NYC, you can hear boos. Who knows if this is true or canned, their total bias.

Well, Geralyn and I voted in Upstate NY before going to early Mass this morning. It was a principle-type vote because everyone knows my State always goes Democrat because of New York City.

It's the States of Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and maybe Michigan that will decide who will reach the 270 electoral votes needed to win. I think Trump has to take virtually them all.

Michael Voris was clear though wasn't he? No, intervention from God is what he said, correct? I just found that interesting. Michael Voris does not have to believe in the Illumination of Conscience. I just thought anyone who does believe in it and watches that video clip is probably wondering if all hope is truly lost, because to me the Illumination of Conscience is scary but it does bring the thought of hope with it, no?

 

Due to neglected cathechesis and Alinskyian diseducation, there is unprecented ignorance about. Such an illumination would enable people to make an informed choice of whether to serve Christ or satan before chastisement begins. There might even be the possibility that a sufficiently broad choice of the good might lessen the severity of this event or even avert it altogether.

 

I just voted....I was shocked....no line....only two other folks! No signs....nothing? Very unusual for my area...especially in a presidential election.

No matter how this vote goes folks, just remember.....we are citizens of heaven first.....our trust is in Jesus....no man.

God knows how this is coming down....do not despair....we are His.

 

The false prophet will not technically be a Pope, but a cardinal invalidly invested in the functions of the Pope without conclave. This is what we could infer about the prophecies

Oh, I think there are plenty of people, especially in the Church, who have made an informed choice and are using non-Catholics and "Catholic Spring" groups to lead others astray. Take a look at this speech by a Rabbi who was so supportive of the radical Laudate Si but sympathetic to the Pope's situation "dealing with a Church of a billion people who have been for centuries stuck in these patriarchal directions and worldviews". According to the Rabbi, those patriarchal directions and worldviews include the Church's stance on women, abortion ("treating the foetus as sacred"), same sex marriage and government funded contraception. The Rabbi was very critical of the US Bishops for their lack of enthusiasm. I wish I could agree with you that it's lack of catechesis and secular diseducation. It's more like twisted catechesis provided by Catholic educators. The unenthusiastic bishops are being replaced by people in league with those "Catholic" educators. Do you believe that a couple of generations catechised to believe that God should have no say in who get's to be born will even recognise that the illumination is from God never mind act on it? I don't. I also believe that there won't be any correction until faithful Bishops are a very small minority. I'm afraid that the groundwork is being laid for the arrival of a false prophet, and it could happen in our lifetime.

Sadly, again I agree....I think things are far from over....they will get much worse before they get better. Many will lose their faith....unless you hold tight to the sacraments and the rosary. It is our protection.

 

The Pope would probably come out and say Hilary is one of the modern greats.

The sacraments and the rosary is right, Beth. The sacraments and the rosary. Keep your bible close. And don't rule out a glorious outpouring of the Holy Spirit on those who stand firm. It's going to be exciting and glorious as well as risky and frightening.

In other words, this is going to be a time of joy. We will have no choice but to depend on the Lord.

So, um. Stop worrying. It's all going to work out fine, or, as the Medieval Anchoress, Julian of Norwich said "all will be well, and all manner of things will be well". ( Jesus has won the victory.).

( and I don't even live in the US, I don't have a dog in this fight, as they say. I am just hibernating in a little rural corner of England ! )

The first one is absolutely frightening, because they are her words in a book she wrote. I wonder if she would let the government decide her grandchildren should go to public school along with the other kids, or does she want them to go to an expensive private school like where she sent Chelsea? Please everyone get out there and make sure she does not get a majority in the Senate. If there is a Senate race in your state, that is the one place we can make a difference at this point.

 

It must seem strange to see folks from far off countries taking such an interest, Beth. From my point of view, as someone who has worked in the British media and in teaching in Catholic schools : we see the USA as a world leader for democracy, free elections and the rights of the individual. These are Catholic values.

This election in particular has threatened those values. We see the two candidates as deeply flawed, and it seems to be a case of "the least worst option" which really makes us concerned. (Trump's support of the unborn is seen as false and insincere. He wouldn't win the Christian right vote over here I can assure you. He is lying. However, the alternative is much, much worse.)

And, yes we are and have been praying. Our priest has spoken regularly of the US election is his homilies for the past few months. We have had eucharistic adoration for your election.

Europe is in upheaval as well at the moment: Racism and right wing Totalitarianism is on the rise. We voted to leave the European Economic union but our own government is trying to subvert that at the moment. So, we look at what is happening in the United States, land of the free, and we think "God, help us. The greatest world democracy on your planet is about to throw us all under a bus. What hope do we even have of leaving Europe."

My only final thought this evening, as the polls close, is that throughout the Old Testament, God chose any number of Trumps to do his will: Moses was a murderer and socially inept. David was a womaniser and adulterer but God made him King of Egypt. Jonah was a coward. Peter was a denier. You've heard the statistics. God can use Trump. He's God.

I don't want to be nasty but there is growing evidence that Mr.s Clinton is indeed a witch. What do I mean by a witch? Well someone who worships Satan for power and wealth. Someone who works magic. There are so many clear signs around her of this. I would wonder about anyone who supported abortion, but there are a hundred other signs. Too many to count. The thing is Satnaists know that that the Catholic Church is the true Church. One of the main wishes they have in sacrifice is the , 'For the downfall of Catholic priests and the overthrow of the Catholic Church' . What I mean is , if she gets power she will be no friend to the Church. She will be moving as far and as fast as she can against us.

We should watch for this and expect it.

 

For sure, Padraig. Obama made it his first priority within days of taking office in 20o9, to extend abortion laws. That told me everything I needed to know about Democrat politics: If you can't even defend the poorest of the poor, then you won't be a friend to Christians. I think Clinton will take this election, sadly.

So, even more reason to rely on Almighty God. His grace is sufficient for me. No choice, actually.
