More Prayers this morning at mass.

I had a friend was out of work for 8 months there and was nearly giving up. He started work two weeks ago and has had another two work offers since starting.

    Don't give up Deanna. :)

Driving back from a trip to Akita in August I had a terrible car accident. I have not lost my job nor my ability to work but life has been very difficult since then. My prayers for help to cope better with my work seem to have gone unanswered so far although that could be due in part to my own character defect of procrastination. That admission having been made, I have empathy with your predicament.
To cut a long story short, I was so inspired with Our Lady of Akita that on my return I commissioned a Kiwi version of her carving in Japan and it is now in my church. Every Tuesday we say a Rosary of the Seven Sorrows in front of it. The timber came from two parts of an old bridge in the the gold mines of Waihi. It was given to the carver by a grandfather of a wee boy who drowned last August. We had another tragic drowning of a young girl in our parish so the names of both children are on the base of the statue.
I now see this carving and its podium as a bridge over troubled waters, Mary being the bridge to Jesus and Jesus being the bridge to heaven and both of them being the bridge to carry our prayers to God The Father.
One of the promises of the Rosary Of Seven Sorrows is that Our Lady will give the supplicant anything they ask for as long as it is good for them. So I will ask this Tuesday for you to find a good job. I don't understand this unanswered prayer thing any better than you but they say God loves a trier so I will try again for you. You certainly sound like a trier.

That's a tragic, yet beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it with us, Joe. I appreciate your prayers for me. In return, I pray that God lightens your heavy cross.

My mother was a fan of the Seven Sorrows, but I don't know much about it. I'll have to Google it or something. School is almost out for the kids, so I'm trying to look at the continued unemployment as a gift. This might be the last summer I have to spend with them, doing fun things. Also, I signed up my daughter for a summer math course. She really needs the help. Finding a job right now might interfere with getting her to classes. So, in God's good time, I keep telling myself whenever the feeling of panic hits.

    Rain,

You and your family are in my prayers. Jesus, we trust in you! By the way, I prayed for you while on I-80 going through Toledo about a month ago. Geralyn, Danny and I were out visiting Ben and Pat in the Midwest.:)

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

    Hi Rain
Just to let you know we have prayed the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows for you tonight in front of the carving of Our Lady of Akita, The Lady of All Nations, The Mother of All Peoples here in New Zealand that you may find a good job. "In all things God works for the good."

The following was sent to me by Carmelite nuns who were based in Scotland when I was going through a hard time in London.

"Beyond the clouds that hide His hand,
There where thou canst not see,
In ways that only He can understand,
    God works for thee."

I hope He works it for you.

I'm deeply touched and blown away that you would pray for me, say the Rosary for me, and offer prayers at Mass. Wow. Maybe that's why I woke up this morning feeling a burning love in my heart. When I got up, the first person I saw was my daughter walking bleary-eyed through the house. Wanting to share that love with someone, I pulled her into my arms and held her there, appreciating everything God has given me. Your prayers sent me that grace--I'm sure of it. The burning is gone now, but it was nice while I lasted. And I'm still jobless, so please keep those prayers flowing :). God bless you all.

    Hi Rain
Thought you might like to see the Statue of Our Lady of Akita before which we say the Seven Sorrows Rosary. I have posted photos of its creation and a fuller story on the Guardian Angels thread. It took me ages to work out how to post photos on my mac. Still dont know if I did it right. Have you got a job yet. I' ll say some more prayers for you today. Your name Rain made me think of the scripture that says as the rain falls from heaven my word will not return until it has done its work....or something like that. Hope our words of prayer do their work for you.

I found the scripture reference. Isaiah 55: 10-14

    Isaiah 55:10-13
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the fieldwill clap their hands. Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown,or an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”

I am probably posting in the wrong place again but your quoting Isaiah made me think of Garabandal that I love. All around los pinos where many of the apparitions took place there is now a 600m fence. Within the boundaries of that fence the scrub (thorn bush and brier) has been removed and many new trees have been planted. I wonder if those trees will "clap their hands" on the day of the great miracle. An everlasting sign has been promised there too. I am so pleased you quoted it in full. Such a happy verse. You are so positive. As an atheist friend of mine once said it's hard to stay positive when you are on the bones of your financial butt. Hope your job comes soon.

Beautiful Akita. I like the story that goes along with the statue, especially the part about Ezra. The name reminds me of a woman I used to work with, a single mom who never married. She was only in her 30's when diagnosed with colon cancer. She had battled it a few years and was doing well when her 18-year old son pulled out in front of dump truck. He died on the spot. They were really close. He was a good kid. His death took the fight right out of her. She gave up, but not in a joyful way. It was as if she had lost all hope. A cross was put on the side of the road where Ezra died and his name was on it. I don't really have anything uplifting to say about their story. It saddens me to this day. Your story is better for the soul than that one.

I don't have a job yet. In fact, I got a letter from the bank "we chose another candidate" in my email this morning. Maybe I'm heading in the wrong direction. I dunno. The good thing is that I'm still on my husband's insurance for the time being. I don't know how long though.

Edit: After I wrote the above post, I realized you must have been writing about me being positive, while I was being negative and kinda down. Funny how things work out sometimes. Heh.

One more little word of encouragement then I will have to stop procrastinating (although I really quite like it) and get on with my work. On the wall of my clinic hangs a round plate. It depicts clouds, mountains , water and some vegetation with an eagle flying across them. It played a large part in my 'journey' to Garabandal. That is another story but it does relate to this thread as within this story lay many answered prayers - more answers than I could have hoped for. Not always the answers I wanted - many were simple reassurances I was on the right track - but the right ones. Around the borders of the plate is another quote from Isaiah - edited a little to make it fit but still accurate. These words make it particularly apt for my osteopathic clinic such but also for those who are tiring and losing hope and faith. "Wait upon the Lord and he will renew your strength. Rise up with wings as eagles. Walk and not faint." The plate was given to me by a patient who is also a fellow parishioner. She prays the Seven Sorrows with me on Tuesdays and often she brings her husband and two of her children with her in their dressing gowns! They have 10 children and now other words come into my mind "And I will raise you up on eagles wings, bear you one the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the son, and hold you in the palm of my hand." Isn't God good! And now I think of Conchita at the end of an interview when asked what lay ahead for her. She said " love God and do his will."And she smiled. Nothing more. If only I had that faith.
