Evil Empire or Russia Consecrated?

Gorbachev was a moral man and without him the first Cold War would never have ended.

Russia is no longer a Communist State. But, sadly, just as Russia was returning to her Christian roots, the West was embracing the errors of Russia.

 

I used to think that of Gorbachev, but that quote in Fatima's post disturbs me. Gorbachev was obviously no Stalin nor even a Brezhnev, but I don't think he ever renounced communism nor atheism. This does not take from the credit he deserves for not standing in the way of the collapse of the Iron Curtain, whatever his motives.

Putin is intriguing. He started in the KGB but perhaps this was the only option for advancement for an ambitious man in the Soviet system. He did not necessarily have to be a communist to follow this course. He seems to have not only disavowed communism, but also those many grievous errors that accompany it and that have metastisised into the West. He has also personally and generally enthusiastically embraced Orthodox Christianity. Maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt until he shows otherwise. Maybe I should offer the same to Mr Gorbachev, he is not one of the last century's major villains.

There must have been many more in the USSR living as "closet believers". Perhaps Putin too.

Recent events seem to indicate a lessening of the unity of NATO and the isolation of Turkey (whose only allies increasingly seem to be ISIS and the Obama administration-as opposed to the U.S. of A).

I found the video quite enlightening and was a little surprised at Putin's earlier responses bearing in mind the 1991 date. I think I would agree with everything he says in the interview. Putin remains a bit of an enigma which is why people's opinions of him vary so widely.

And that is 3 years after we are supposed to swallow the consecration was done.​

 

It is good to be reminded of this article from Mark Mallett. Re-reading it again convinces me that the 'communism' that is spoken of in the Garabandal events is not a reference to the political communism of the Soviet Union but to "the errors that were implemented in Russia, namely atheism, Darwinism, and materialism" as Mark succinctly puts it. It is those three errors that have spread around the world. And in support of the desirability (in my view) of separating the word 'communism' from the message of Fatima (and Garabandal) is the fact that Our Lady's messages do not use the word!

Consequently, I do not believe the suggestion (which Mark seems to have bought into) that the collapse of Communism in the Soviet Union was some 'Machiavellian' piece of theatre. I believe Gorbachev believed what he said in the quote from 1987 and that he still believed, at that time, in the Soviet system. Since then he has become a Christian and Russia is turning back to its Christian roots.

that is; God saw Gorbachevs' conversion and also Russia turning back to its Christian roots over the 25 to 30 years that followed the 1984 consecration of Russia to Our Ladys' Immaculate Heart!

Ah yes....little "innocent" Mr. KGB Putin with his current day Russian forces being increased for "something" big while his own economy suffers due to low oil prices. I was just alerted to this news .....looking as though Putin is ready to make his own big move with no one to stop him. He seems to be attempting to use a truly feeble excuse of readying against some moves of the West, but the West currently is feckless with Merkel held under Putin's control for energy, Obama scared to death of him and serving his purposes from the beginning, and NATO having done nothing of any mention against all of his former moves into the Ukraine and elsewhere....esp. in the Middle East. Soooo, just keep a watch on while so many seemingly naive actually think somehow this dangerous man has come to the light!

Considering the way things are going in the Middle East and other parts of the world, like him or loathe him, Putin would be a very foolish leader to not have his military prepared for any threats. Why is it always bad when other countries carry out military manoeuvres but always good when NATO does it? Would there be the same hype had he done this while he and Obama were on whispering terms?
