Im in tears right now. I wish I could like this a million times. These young people are my heros. Praised be Jesus Christ now and forever!!!!
My son has friends stuck on a bus going back to Steubenville, OH. It appears an accident stopped traffic and by the time crews were able to clear the vehicles the snow was too deep to get the backed up traffic moving. The National Guard has come in to shovel them out. I bet that's a slow and tedious process. But the pics on facebook showed the kids having a grand time in the bus and on the side of the road. Patience! Safe through the prayers of St. Nicholas!
Its hard to imagine the snow and wind on The March for Life. I am heading of to the beach but I will say a rosary for them on the way. This week is our last chance to submit our objections to the upcoming euthanasia bill here in New Zealand. We are on the ring of fire and have a huge amount of geothermal activity here. Perhaps this beautiful country will be one of those predicted to disappear. Before mass I asked our Priest to remember all the young people in the March For Life.
Wow! Those kids sure know what matters. Watching a CNN report from Washington yesterday before the storm hit, they briefly mentioned that "a demonstration" had just finished with not a hint of the reason for the demonstration or the numbers attending. Today, the same channel is showing a demonstration by "thousands of people" in Poland about how the conservative government is treating the press. Hypocrites. Prayers going up for all the brave young marchers and their worried parents.
I know some teens who are stranded there, too. Sounds like there are hundreds of them from all over. Perhaps this is God's way of getting some publicity for the March for Life!
wow...those pictures of the outdoor mass are so beautiful. they give one hope and those kids will never, ever forget it!
Video/Audio # turnpike Mass Cant wait to hear the story behind this Mass https://churchpop.com/2016/01/23/photos-of-the-historic-turnpike-mass-of-2016/ All credit for links to one of Charlies Angels Amazing Grace, I hope all is well with your daughter and all the stranded!
wow, The Lord sure works in mysterious ways.....sent home early for March for Life but making the biggest statement on PA turnpike.....what a God Moment for all those there and those of us watching through pics and you tube....God saying....you can chase us from the march with the weather, but even in adversity our story will be seen and heard by all.....tear provoking
This real story of the Church alive today because of these remarkable young people is so much showing that God is in charge. The world, the media wanted to bury the March For Life this year and it looked like there were succeeding until the Storm. And then these warriors of the faith- these young folks and their remarkable chaperones responded. And now the results. The world knows all about them and why there were there- to defend life. It feels a bit like Rssurrection. Like our Lord, the defeat of the storm resurrects into this glorious story of powerful Christian witness. One of my favorite bloggers wrote about it today and is preaching on it at his Church. Let's make sure we spread this news. These young people have done exactly what CJ and MM and others said we all need to do when The Storm hits. Amazing Grace- hope you have heard from your daughter. She is part of this forever. What a blessing. http://aleteia.org/blogs/deacon-gre...-honor-the-roadside-pilgrims-of-snowmaggedon/
Could today's second reading be any more appropriate as I look at the video IJOP posted above. The Body of Christ, though many parts, is indeed one! Brothers and sisters: As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. Now the body is not a single part, but many. If a foot should say, “Because I am not a hand I do not belong to the body,” it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. Or if an ear should say, “Because I am not an eye I do not belong to the body,” it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended. If they were all one part, where would the body be? But as it is, there are many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I do not need you.” Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary, and those parts of the body that we consider less honorable we surround with greater honor, and our less presentable parts are treated with greater propriety, whereas our more presentable parts do not need this. But God has so constructed the body as to give greater honor to a part that is without it, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy. Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. Some people God has designated in the church to be, first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then, mighty deeds; then gifts of healing, assistance, administration, and varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work mighty deeds? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?
Wonderful, an altar of snow at the side of the road after a snowstorm. God gives different gifts to different souls and different types of souls. I think to those who Fight for Life He was poured out a whole range of very special Graces. The first I noticed is the ability to see right through the nonsense our Pagan Culture has buried and tied us up in , the grace to see the light of truth in the darkness. It reminds me of Frodo in the Lord of the Rings confronted by the spider who sought to tie him up in her web. Right to lifers are tied up in no one's web of lies. Another gift is that of being warriors who never give up , no matter how imposible the circumstances. People who make altars out of snow storms. How can such people be defeated? It looks so cooollllllld there! But how I wish I had been there.
Thank you everyone!! They passed the time playing Catholic trivia! What an awesome bunch of youth. My daughter texted me a pic of an army meal that the national Guard had brought them. She was so excited that it heated itself. Lol. They got to a hotel shortly before two am. Someone bought the whole group pizza, she showered and shared a room with seven others! Slept about three hours and is waiting to board the bus again. Thank you for all of your continued prayers. This is a group of kids that asked to take their exams early so they could attend the March. Their bus broke down for four hours on the way down and then stranded for over twenty four hours on the way home! I can feel something profound in these events, I can hear it in my daughters voice. God is good!!! I worked at Right to Life in high school and college, but the conviction in the youth today is so much stronger than that of my generation. I am in awe.
Please let your daughter know that these actions of her and her group are some of the most hopeful things I've seen and heard in quite a while. I'm very serious about that- it's not a bs la de da I feel good but an honest to goodness sense of hope in a dark world. They are lights shining in the darkness and no doubt others like me are encouraged and hopeful today. God IS good.
In these times especially, we need to focus on the good. Anyone can find the dirt. We need to be the ones who find the gold. God is at work in the lives of the youth! Mama Mary has been a huge presence in my daughters life. She has had some profound mystical experiences that I'm not sure she would want me to share. Please just know that God is at work and preparing this generation for what lies ahead.
Im so Happy for you AG. Thank you for including us all in what at first seemed such a nightmare but turned to our Lords Greater Glory! What a blue print to be a sign of Hope, the next right step. Not far from this area is the 911 memorial...Holy Ground The hill/mountain really, your daughter was stuck on was just before the eastern side of Alleghany mountain. Not far from the tunnel, St Johns Roman Catholic Church sits, the only Church on the PA Turnpike you can access. You can park your vehicle on the shoulder and climb the steps, so im sure St John was watching over the flock. Another symbolism that hit me ,the area is called 7 hills...big ski resort. The first video i watched on the turnpike Mass was put out by Holy Spirit Church in Iowa... coincedance? more inspirational youth...
