US Presidential election 2016

Absolutely we all need to protect our borders, but we need to be realistic. How is Trump going to implement a policy of banning all Muslims? The US wouldn't need to seal its borders if it didn't have a record of giving amnesty and not deporting illegals.

Europe's problem is an ageing population and a shortage of cheap labour, plus free welfare supplementing low wages, free healthcare, etc. They just dress it up as humanitarianism.

 

Trump is saying what most of us are thinking. Might not be politcally correct or even spiritually correct... but most of us have the same thoughts.

Politically correct extremest is killing Christianity.

My spiritual side says no but my human side says yes.

 

I understand what you mean. I watched Trump's interview on CNN where he said that some Muslims (he may have said many, but it is Donald Trump) have told him they agree with him. That's quite possible. It still doesn't justify religious discrimination. It's Muslims today, it could be Catholics tomorrow. Be careful what you wish for.

Take care that there isn't a call for a ban on hate speech as a result of his pronouncements. Hate speech is whatever the prevailing power decides it will get away with. Aren't there Bishops having problems in Australia and Canada for preaching the Catholic view of marriage?

I've just been watching an interview on France 24 with a man called DeLeon who is the President of the California State Senate. (France 24 doesn't even try to hide its preference for Hollande's party and they seem to have the same adulation for the US Democrats).

According to Mr. DeLeon, everything is the Republican Party's fault. He says that Trump only has the support of a tiny, although very vocal, number of Americans. San Bernardino is down to lack of gun control. They have tried in California but the problem is with the neighbouring States. Asked about the weapons having been bought legally in California, he said they have a plan to fix that problem. They are working with the Governor to make big changes in 2016 that will restrict guns and ammunition. You American's can stop worrying. Mr. DeLeon has it all in hand.

Listening to him, I can understand why people support Trump.

 

Running 2nd behind Hillary Clinton, and after one of Americas largest labor Unions supports Bernie Sanders for US President. The DNC(Democrat national) levels charges of Bernies camp of cheeting a day before a National Dem Presidential debate (SAT) Bill Press a majior DEM in the Press core cries foul on MSNBC, this is by design to smear Bernie,.....Oh Bill, that's just the Clinton way!!!! same old same old Clinton tune!!!!!!!!

God help the whole world if Trump v Clinton is your only choice.

I watched the Republican debates (both the undercard and the main players). Huckabee from the first debate and Cruz or Paul from the second debate did ok but the field badly needs to be narrowed before they win the election for Clinton by attacking each other. I wouldn't bet on Trump being any more pro-life than Clinton.

Anthony List, told EWTN News in an interview about the 2016 election.

Two landmark pieces of pro-life legislation have made recent gains in Congress, but the White House had announced its intent to veto them. Passage of this legislation is what is at stake in the 2016 election, Dannenfelser maintained.

If both the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – a ban on most abortions after five months of pregnancy passed by the House – and the defunding of the nation’s largest abortion provider Planned Parenthood, approved by both houses of Congress, became law, it “would truly be groundbreaking,” she added.

In the wake of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that decided a woman’s legal right to have an abortion, it would be the pro-life movement’s biggest policy victory, Dannenfelser claimed.

And there is a consensus around the pain-capable bill, she added, with many Democrats and Independents joining Republicans in support of it. Multiple polls have showed a majority of Americans in favor of restrictions on legal abortion after 20 weeks.

The U.S. is one of only seven countries that permit abortion past 20 weeks of gestation, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of the Susan B. Anthony List. The others are the People's Republic of China, North Korea, Canada, Vietnam, Singapore, and The Netherlands.


So Glenn Beck says no vote for Trump, even if Trump says hes Pro Life...we know Hillary will kill ALL kids if she had her way. Heck, since the early 1990's with hubbie Bills election, she has tried to impose universal/national healthcare on all Americans! The sunshine clause prevented Hillarys nonsence, BUT SHES BACK!!!!! I wish Rick Santorum was our front runner! Hes a solid Catholic and Pro Life. He was screwed over by the Republican elites in the last Election....sad, but true!
Ricks problem. he cancelled his last run in 2012 over his little ones health issues, im NOT mocking Rick! But I have to admit, this Greatly affected Ricks run this time...

Im goin on my own here, Santorum was sooooo Close to winning the nomination! Rick withdrew, and later Rmoney lost his ferver( Romney is Mormon and its elites are...aka Masonry ) Now Romney is speaking out against Trump.....ROMNEY...GO AWAY!!!!

 

Mr. Bean would be better than Clinton. I wouldn't bet my house on Trump being pro life. He will say anything to get the nomination and then say anything to win the presidency. He will need votes from liberals or libertarians or whatever label is being used these days to describe people who are pro everything other than high taxes and protecting the lives of unborn babies. I think it very likely that he will backtrack on pro life issues to appeal to them once he gets the nomination.

Santorum is probably the only unashamedly 100% faithful Catholic politician I have seen. As I see it, that really hinders any chance he has of ever being US President. I honestly don't think he would have won the nomination because Romney was the establishment's man. I sometimes wonder whether Republicans embracing Catholic politicians has more to do with their recognition that the Hispanic vote counts. Yes, I'm aware that Hispanic Catholics are just as pro abortion as other Catholics, however, having Catholics, especially Hispanics like Rubio, in their line-up takes the bad look off the hardline "the Pope is the Antichrist" white American, pro big business Protestantism usually associated with that party. I'm aware, also, of the Democratic Party's association with the KKK, etc. but they have somehow managed to throw off that image by claiming that all the white racist bigots switched to the Republicans. It's a joke, really, how the Republicans get tarred with being the party of billionaires considering Clinton's reputation for being backed by the bankers and Obama being the darling of the tech giants.

I liked Huckabee because he had the temerity to call out the entitlement mindset of young voters. I liked Paul because at least he acknowledged that regime change causes more trouble than it solves. I liked Cruz because he didn't make regime change in Syria a priority for defeating ISIS. Cruz and, especially, Paul would give me the biggest hope that the US would stop francising out its foreign policy to Israel, Saudi or, as seems to be Obama's choice, Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood. Pity that Paul doesn't have more support in his own party. Is that down to his being too independent or his stance on fiscal matters?

 

Charlie Johnston has said we will not have an election next year, that events will overtake things and Obama will not finish his term. I personally heard a very holy woman, a Holocaust survivor named AnnMariae Schmidt, say the same thing, that something will stop the elections. I never thought I would "vote" for chaos to prevent the country from moving forward, but I guess I feel I should plan for that, and stop paying attention to the drama surrounding the presidential debates.

I am admittedly very jaded about US politics as my job often brings me to DC. Obviously the new POTUS has impact but the entire "system" including Congress, the Courts, and the bureaucracy of the government IMO is all "corrupt". Not that they are all crooks (although I think this applies to many of them), but more like a computer- the system has a "virus" and it just isn't working anymore. I don't see how a new POTUS "fixes" this even if well intentioned. I guess my coping mechanism is that I have such low expectations of government anymore and am resigned to it being ineffectual. So with that I also know they will not be able to help me it my family in any major crisis so that is where I've done some prep for. It might sound as if I'm defeated a bit, but I believe it's gotten me to focus much more on who is really in charge and from whom all power trust derives- God, the Almighty and Ever Living Father!

 

No Miker!! You are Not Defeated!! You are acting in a wise, planned and prepared manner to see, as best you can, that evil will not defeat you and those who The Lord expects YOU to care for ... even strangers in need who might just "come along"!!
