I have noticed in recent months that JoeJerk's associates have begun to intensify their attacks on homeschoolers, a group that have been for the most part been under God's protection since gaining legal status in the 1980s. Here's a section of a letter from Michael Farris who is with HSLDA, a group who defends homeschoolers' rights, and who has gone to bat for the O'Loughlins on two occasions. We won recognition for the legality of homeschooling relying on two principal legal theories—religious freedom and parental rights. We contended that both freedoms were fundamental rights deserving the highest level of constitutional protection. If you read the news at all, you realize that religious freedom is under serious attack in our nation. And you can count on HSLDA to continue to fight for this freedom on a broad basis—just as we did when I was the co-chair of the group of lawyers who drafted the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in the early 1990s. However, there are numerous organizations who are dedicated to the preservation of religious liberty that we partner with on a regular basis. That fight is underway with a broad coalition that is well-prepared and well-equipped. However, the same political forces that are attacking religious freedom also seek to undermine the constitutional right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. The Solicitor General of the United States gave us a glimpse into that world when he argued in the Romeike case that homeschooling is a privilege granted by government and not a God-given right protected by the Constitution. He is far from the only advocate of this radical position. The entire movement behind the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is pushing an agenda and a legal theory that government has the first and ultimate authority to make decisions for children. And ever since the Supreme Court's splintered decision in Troxel v. Granville (2000), federal and state courts have gradually eroded the level of legal protection given to parental rights... And so the fight is intensifying...I'm glad that we're finishing up with our last year of homeschooling. Unfortunately, our daughter Rachel soon plans on homeschooling our oldest grandchild. Ovey! Yes Padraig...I discern these to be true...very sobering messages. The call to conversion continues and thank God for the Great Jubilee year of Mercy.
We must keep praying to Our Lady for Peace. Perhaps I will offer up my life to God as a Sacrifice for Peace and perhaps He will accept it. I must pray to Our Lady to see if this will be an acceptable Sacrifice. I hope that it is.
I am afraid too. But since I am a Slave of Mary and Consecrated to her ,I am her property and must seek her permission first. So I am waiting for a little Sign or her to come and tell me. I would not do this wothout her nod. I love life and would so hate to loose it, but it seems like a good andright thing to do. Given the huge need. But more than a little part of me is hoping to be like Isaac and not to be asked to got through with it. But what would be the point of offering up something we did not care very much about? Only giving up that which we love could be considered a sacrifice. I love this very much about Devotion to Mary that we can lay all things great and small in her hands.
I take this as a Sign, from the latest message from the Amazon, 'I ask you: intercede for the world. Make of your lives a perfect oblation, offering everything you have to the Lord: your love. This is what you have that is most precious and which you can offer to my Son.'. It reminds me of Scripture Hosea 6:6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings. So I will offer up my days and not my life.
What struck me in this message to Angela was when our Blessed Mother used the words " the time is truly short" and "what WILL happen will be terrible". This terrible thing is highlighted by a definitive "Will happen" ...not some kind of conditional statement but a definite statement. Our Lady also states time is " truly short"...this isn't some kind of lame "soon" wordage. I am inclined to think that some kind of nuclear event may happen.
I'm glad you're hoping not to leave us too soon, Padraig; you'd be sorely missed! One of my heartfelt desires is similar to that recently expressed by garabandal: to gaze upon Our Lady. Hers is the perfect human expression of divine, maternal love! Mary, let me gaze upon your motherly beauty! But if we gaze upon the face of Mary as she has appeared to Angela over the last six months, we perceive a definitive progression. It is a visual expression of impending troubles drawing closer! Since Peter started this thread he has posted 13 messages to Angela. Of the first 7, only 2 drew attention to Our Lady's expression: one was happy, one was sad; but, there were no tears. In the last 6 of those messages, 5 drew attention to Our Lady's expression: one was sad, four described tears, and of those four, the most recent said she was outright crying. I find it very disturbing that Mary has become increasingly sorrowful and believe it is a direct indication of the nearness of impending sorrows! Yes Terry I am afraid things are very close and what is coming towards us all is truly terrible. I would not have wanted to offer my life unless things were so grave. In either case I don't think one life could have paid the debt our sins have earned us. I never know how much to write concerning this as I do not want to wrry of hurt people with the great fear it might inspire. I admire the way the visionaries of Medugorje as they talk with Faith and Trust and give such great Hope. But for myself the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. We have lost this Holy Fear. We shall learn it once again. Enough said. As to those who have not seen and met and talked to our Lady I envy them in a way. They are in for such a joy! I have often thought that if I were in heaven and my only joy were to see Mary once every 100 years there my joy would be complete. She is really extraordinary. So human too, I found her a complete joy and delight. I can see why the angels and saints all flock to be around her. I am flat out crazy in love with her myself. She saved me from hell which is reason to be grateful and to love for all Eternity. But she also taught me how to pray, she still teaches me and we have become close friends. There are no words.....a real True mother...Gloroius and Enchanting , with a smile to die for, ravishing beauty....
