And God judges us with true love in return.
    St. Teresa of Avila

I had the greatest sorrow for the many souls that condemned themselves to Hell, especially those Lutherans. […] I saw souls falling into hell like snowflakes.
    St. Louis Marie de Montfort

Be one of the small number who find the way to life, and enter by the narrow gate into Heaven. Take care not to follow the majority and the common herd, so many of whom are lost. Do not be deceived; there are only two roads: one that leads to life and is narrow; the other that leads to death and is wide. There is no middle way.

I'm disturbed by the path the Church has taken.
I'm uneasy about the Popes language and approach.
But all the prophecies tell us to stick with Rome and the Pope.

I will leave this forum if things here turn sour towards the Pope after he releases his final synod response.
I may not like it. (I probably won't like it). But we can't rebel against Rome. That's insane, wrong, short sighted and arrogant.

    Take a deep breath.
The Pope is the Pope. It's disappointing the Rome seems to be doing everything I thought it never would. But:

Yes. I am pretty relaxed about it all. I am waiting to see.

Perhaps indeed he is a living saint and all's fine, that would make me happier than anything, time will tell. We will see shortly I think.

As to Doctrine, I don't expect any Pope to change Doctrine. But If I was a burglar I wouldn't try to kick down the front door of changing Doctrine, I would go round to the back of the house and go through the back door of Pastoral Practise. A nod and a wink.

    But we'll see.

Padraig, I think the real danger is that you could lead people astray with your "growling" - you are a prayerful, humble servant of Our Lord and Our Lady, you can calmly observe things and make sound judgments. The rest of us - not so much.

Casual observers or folks who wish to foment rebellion can look at your multiple posts regarding Pope Francis and say something along the lines of "See, even Padraig from the MOG forum has doubts, so I can ignore Pope Francis because he is a bad guy..." and so on. In a way, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Just be careful - you might be able to handle the narrow path because you are an experienced hiker. Not so all of your readers. Peace.

It is true these are confusing times and often it is very difficult to kow the right thing to do.
Given this all any of us can do is pray and Discern and do our best I have prayed about it and what I think is this.

That there are dangers in both sides whatever I do. The easiest thing I could do is just to shut up and pray it will all go away.
That is the easiest option and one I have eebn very tempted to take. But it is essentially a dishonest and cowardly thing to do.

The seocond is to do is to go into attack mode at Pope Frnaics and to bark the house down. But I am not quite sure Pope Francis deserves this, in fact as someone remakred I am not quite sure he is not a living saint and is pressing all he right buttons.

Another option ,even though I am very uneasy is not to bark at all. But that wouldn't be much good if the burglar got right into the bedroom before I barked.

So I am sounding off a few warning growls to get people bright eyed and bushy tailed.

I will not please everyone with this, but its the best I can do.

These things will not last forever, just the next month or two, then hopefully I and everyone else can go back to sleep.

For me it is a matter of fidelity to the Catholic Church and its teaching authority. I know from every major prophecy and even minor ones, that the Church will go through a purification as well as its leaders and followers. Our faith is rooted in the lives of the saints, its Popes, its church councils and most recently in the Catholic Catechism from St. Pope John Paul.

It is clear to see that the prophecies of Fatima and Akita specifically are coming true in our midst. I spend little time reading what the media and 'church experts' are saying. Rather I spend my time reading what Elizabeth Kindleman, Francine B. and Luisa P. have written as they speak all about our moment and they bring a calm peace with them. I refuse to let the confusion of our time take my peace away. My suggestion is to find the things that bring peace to ones life and enter deeper into these gifts: praying the rosary, reading scripture, reading the writings of great messengers (like the ones given above) and stop letting Satan put fear and panic into ones thoughts through the mass-media of our times. Confusion comes from the evil one, peace comes from our God. I have tried most of my adult life to control situations and have sadly failed at this. I think Padre Pio said it best: "Pray, trust and don't worry". God is in control and not us.

After saying the post above, I read what our Lady of Medjugorje said on November 2nd. It is was I was trying to say, but much better. We are called to love and pray: “Dear children, anew I desire to speak to you about love. I have gathered you around me in the name of my Son, according to His will. I desire that your faith be firm, flowing forth from love. Because, those of my children who understand the love of my Son and follow it, live in love and hope. They have come to know the love of God. Therefore, my children, pray, pray so as to be able to love all the more and to do works of love. Because, faith alone without love and works of love is not what I am asking of you: my children, this is an illusion of faith. It is a boasting of self. My Son seeks faith and works, love and goodness. I am praying, and I am also asking you to pray, and to live love; because I desire that my Son, when He looks at the hearts of all of my children, can see love and goodness in them and not hatred and indifference. My children, apostles of my love, do not lose hope, do not lose strength. You can do this. I am encouraging and blessing you. Because all that is of this world, which many of my children, unfortunately, put in the first place, will disappear; and only love and works of love will remain and open the door of the Kingdom of Heaven. I will wait for you at this door. At this door, I desire to welcome and embrace all of my children. Thank you!”

I hope this does not come across as self-centered, but sometimes like right now, these messages come to me as if Our Lady is speaking directly to me and my life. I am struggling with holding onto hope these days because of issues with my children and to a lesser extent my meaningless job. If not for a great priest and the grace allowed me in the Confessional, I would dare say it's close to despair. So, to hear these words of Mary to not lose hope and strength. To hear her almost like a coach on the sidelines say, "You can do this" is exactly what I needed to hear. To know she is blessing me and encouraging me right now is so helpful. Yes, more prayer is needed. I need to turn more toward God - my help is in the name of The Lord. He is my Rock and Deliverer. I think this is my answer. She is waiting at the door of the Kingdom of Heaven. What a beautiful picture in my mind. Peace..

Our Lady explained to me about a year ago that there would come a time when myself and my two dogs and a handful of others would all that would be left on the forum for a while. I did not understand then, but I am starting to get a glimmer now..

and the two dogs keep shooting me funny looks.

  13. Close to the Brazilian border in Argentina there are some famous Jesuit ruins. The Mission with Robert DeNiro was filmed there and is about what happened.

That place always reminded me of what the Jesuits have done to the Church since the 60s with things like Liberation Theology etc. Yes, we all know good Jesuits (as it is a large order) but they have imprudently introduced rationalism and modernism and brought darkness.

Not far from the ruins on the border with Brazil is a place called Foz de Iguazu
View attachment 3664 View attachment 3665
Three major South American rivers converge there and huge waterfalls are all over the place - very impressive. It always struck me as the sin and decay was left in ruins while those who kept going reached paradise.

We are all aware of the darkness. It surounds us and has become the norm in our day and could even lead to despair. But, we should not stop there as a new place is waiting for us in the near future. It seems ironic to me that an Argentine Jesuit would lead us there, but I trust in God.

Regardless of the order, one of the pillars to monastic life is obedience. God evens tells Samuel that, "obedience is better than sacrifice" (I Sam 15:22).

Homily of H.H. John Paul II on the Beatification of Padre Pio Sunday, May 2, 1999

    part of JP2 Homily...

Guided by the texts of this Fifth Sunday of Easter, which provides the context for the beatification, let us this morning trace the main features of his spiritual experience.

    2. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me” (Jn 14:1). In the Gospel just proclaimed, we heard these words of Jesus to his disciples who were in need of encouragement. In fact, his allusion to his imminent departure had thrown them into turmoil. They were afraid of being abandoned, of being alone, and the Lord consoled them with a very specific promise: “I am going to prepare a place for you”, and then, “I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (Jn 14:2-3).

Through Thomas, the Apostles reply to this reassurance: Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” (Jn 14:5). The remark is apt, and Jesus does not avoid the question which it implies. The answer he gives will remain for ever a light shining for generations still to come: “I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me” (Jn 14:6).

The “place” that Jesus goes to prepare is in “the house of the Father”; there the disciple will be able to be with the Master for all eternity and share in his joy. Yet there is only one path that leads there: Christ, to whom the disciple must be conformed more and more. Holiness consists precisely in this: that it is no longer the Christian who lives, but Christ himself who lives in him (cf. Gal 2:20). An exhilarating goal, accompanied by a promise which is no less consoling: “Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do, and greater works than I will they do, because I am going to the Father” (Jn 14:12).

    3. We hear these words of Christ and think of the humble friar of Gargano. How clearly were they fulfilled in Bl. Pio of Pietrelcina!

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe ...”. What was the life of this humble son of St Francis if not a constant act of faith, strengthened by the hope of heaven, where he could be with Christ?

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, Padraig. Yours is a difficult row to hoe on this forum and I do not doubt that you put much thought into the vast majority of your postings.

I simply felt compelled to remind you that your audience is a wide one and your words regarding Pope Francis and the Church will be given much weight by those who read them. I do not envy you that position, but I do ask you to please tread lightly.

As for the "shut up and pray" option, I disagree with you that it is "dishonest" or "cowardly" - in fact, in my own experience, I find it is a whole lot more difficult to bite my tongue than to spout off! Also, as you know, Our Lady is a study in the "be silent and pray" way of life. So, I think there is great courage in following that path.

Either way, rest assured that you and the forum (and the Pope! ;)) will always have my prayerful support.

We do not know when, but the Vatican spokesman who broke the news that the Pope would be releasing an Apolstolic Exhortation said he thought it would be fairly soon. I think hinting at the next month or two, perhaps at the beginning of the Year of Mercy. He said that the idea was to strike while the iron is hot. If things are left to cool for too long the momentum will be lost. Studies have shown that after 8 months if decisions haven't been made after a meeting like the Synod then the debate goes back to square one.
