I think to be honest that the Church have a Synod basing itself on what are basicaly peripheral societal/religious issues would have been far, far better heaiding down the path indicated by Our Lady. In other words a strictly spiritual path leading to conversion.

I think, Mary, that the Synod was a cul de sac. I hope I am wrong in this. But it would have been to have taken Our Lady as guide in this.

Encouraging fasting, deeper prayer, a return to the sacraments and so on.

Even if the Synod had been on target we are at a minute before midnight, it's far too late for this stuff.

Far too late, it is irrelevent.

At a time like this, I think you are spot on. It is inconceivable to me to be talking about global warming and it takes a village and the positives of a gay relationship than what you have just stated.

I can't yet feel the Synod has been a waste of time. But from reading through this thread, that is the feeling I am getting from other posters.

Could Charie Johnston be write in saying Pope Francis would make a big blunder, and the outcome of the Synod is the 'blunder.' Just wondering.

I'm greatly disturbed by all this.
    Much prayer needed.
    Greatly disturbed.

Has their ever been confusion like this from the Church?
Not in my lifetime at least.

There has never been so much information available. These debates have been going on for hundreds of years. The difference is we can participate now (mog). Good Popes and bad Popes throughout history...but I think the last 3 have been mystical saints.

    :)

No one could be more pleased than me if it does bear fruit. But it seems to me that the whole thing was rather like calling for a plumber to fix the plumbing, which was badly in need of repair and the plumber showing up and trying to fix the electrics which had nothing wrong with it in the first place.

I am not aware of anyone on this thread attacking the Holy Father.

I am aware, on the other hand, of the Holy Father attacking others:

I am reminded of the story of the famous English historian Edward Gibbons who visited the then Pope Pius ix not long after the Dogma of Infallibilty had been promulgated back in 1870. Mr Gibbons was asked if he had found Pope Pius infallible in his conversation to which he replied, 'I do not know about infallible but he called me,' Mr Jibbons ', rather than Mr Gibbons' :D

I think this old closed hearted, blinkered, guy who used archaic and incomprehensible language with superiority and superficiality, as the Holy Father describes people like myself, is entitled to his opinions, no matter how awful they are.

I could take a few shots back at the Holy Father , but I haven't and won't. I'm a Catholic and it would be very, very uncharitable to make the kinds of comments he has been making himself lately.

    Mac "To Jesus, through Mary"

I read that the other day also Padraig. Just mind boggling.

When every prophecy we have read warns against those who wish to update the church ,
warns against the suicide of altering the faith in her teachings ,in her liturgy ,in her theology .

Did Our Lady ever warn against the evil orthodox?
