Agree Padraig. I always have a problem when they speak of the mark of the beast being a microchip. That has long been the talk of conspiracy theory and doomsday Protestant theory. Maybe it is maybe it isn't but I have never believed that it would be a chip inserted into our bodies or even on our bodies. Many would be tricked into getting such a thing and I don't believe you can be tricked into accepting the antichrist system. You would knowingly have to choose God or evil in my opinion. We all have chips now. Chips in our phones and in our wallets that most use to buy and sell goods.

I can understand the reticence here, but I think that the context for all this needs to be understood. The 'NBIC convergence' (nano-technology, biotechnology, artificial intelligence and cognitive science) is far more advanced than many realize and has profound ramifications in every area of life, particularly when harnassed to the transhumanist project in which firms such as Google (whose development director Ray Kurzweil is a proud transhumanist) are heavily invested both financially and ideologically. Recently there was a major conference at Lille Catholic University on the whole question of the future of the human being in the light of technological development (which I followed for my faith-science work) and the consensus was that all this needs to be taken extremely seriously. At the moment, it may seem that these developments are neutral, but that is to underestimate their potential for ill should they fall into the wrong hands. Which, as history teaches us, is always what happens with technology. A few months ago I was talking with a Tamil engineer who had been working for Motorola (I think) on a project linked to the RFID chip, and he assured me that we are not talking about science-fiction here but present reality. We already know that the monitoring capacities of such microchips are being utilized, and it is not hard to see how they could become the lynchpin of a future global technocratic dictatorship with complete control over economics - particularly via the elimination of cash transactions, which is already occurring - and a monopoly over food distribution. In other words, the associations of the microchip with fundamentalist Protestant eschatology should not necessarily blind us to the seriousness of what is unfolding. My own experience is that Google translate is only of limited value for Spanish (particularly with regard to verb forms) because only context can help distinguish 'you' (when using the 3rd person) from 'he/she/it/them'. So use with care! From what I can remember, Agustin del Divino Corazon's reference to the danger of the microchip came during a speaking visit to Brazil a couple of years ago. His last alleged locution was received back in 2013, I think.
