Blue Horizon is ok in my book. I don't always agree with BH, but he does challenge my beliefs and why I believe them. Steel sharpens steel as the saying goes. If he probes your thought process ,and it annoys you don't reply. Doesn't mean you have no answer. just my pennies worth (slacker I am)

My own problem is not were the mind comes ,but rather were the heart comes from.

just reflecting here, on the Vigil of St Jeromes Feast day Doctor of the Church who penned the first Vernacular Bible at its time is the same day our Beloved St Therese of Liesux went onto Eternal Glory. We celebrate her Feast day Oct 1, you cant bump a Dr of the Church from their Feast day. So this really shows the balance of the intellectual and the little way.... both lead to Heaven if pursuing our Lord Jesus Chhrist

seeing the Heart is a challenge for all of us. When I catch someone in A BIG lie, I never trust them again. Its been an unspoken motto of my life. Its like someone who says God Bless You, is it from the heart or lip service? God only knows, I just roll with it

The Beauty of our Catholic Faiht is our Holy Mother Church doesn't lock us all down to one way of Spirituality. She allows Dominicans, Fransiscans Oblates of Mary, Jesuits....etc. She gives ALL core beliefs to follow but freedom to expand, something Protestants don't get. All orders have a different approach to our Lord.

sorry to sicken you Qui, but its true the little Flower is a Doctor of the Church.

As of 2014, there are thirty-five male and female Doctors of the Catholic Church who hail from all ages of the Church’s history. Of these, four are women (Catherine of Siena, Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, Hildegard of Bingen) and twenty-four are quoted in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (Those who are not quoted are Saints Ephraem, Isidore, “the Venerable” Bede, Albert the Great, Anthony of Padua, Peter Canisius, Robert Bellarmine, John of Avila, Hildegard of Bingen, and Lawrence of Brindisi).

Padraig, you know where I stand...beside you,on this issue,as I have from day one been a supporter of the pope. What concerns me is the "mob mentality " welling up ,just waiting for him to error so they can crucify him. I mirror the sentiments of Noble prize writer Albert Camus:
“I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.”

I would rather live my life defending the pope ( as we as "Catholics" are obligated to do ) and be in error and face God, than to live my life defaming his name, even if correct, and face's God's judgment ,as a judge.

When did we all become so "high & mighty" that we feel we can judge the Vicar of Christ ?

All of our time would be better spent praying for our Holy Father this upcoming Synod, then debating him here.

Perhaps you are not understanding virtue. I recall Servant of God, Father John Hardon SJ telling us in retreat what I have stated (I am confident he is not Protestant). Virtue is an act or good habit, so it is the action flowing from right reason (knowledge) that is a virtue, not knowledge itself. So lets properly define what virtue is so there is no confusion on your part:
Modern Catholic Dictionaryby Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J. http://www.therealpresence.org/cgi-bin/getdefinition.pl
VIRTUE. A good habit that enables a person to act according to right reason enlightened by faith. Also called an operative good habit, it makes its possessor a good person and his or her actions also good. (Etym. Latin virtus, virility, strength of character, manliness.)

I agree with you Glenn, but I don't necessarily see a "mob" here at this forum waiting for the Pope to error. I do see a few members who who fit your description and for sometime they have truly bothered and concerned me. I think Padraig's recent decision and announcement on support of the Pope is 100% correct and I hope as we now are about to enter the Synod all remember the respect due to the Holy Father.

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Holy Father Francis and the Cardinals or Bishops or who ever is part of the Synod NEED our prayers.

    And if anyone wants proof.

WE are the ones who have to live with the outcome. So PRAY, HOPE and don't WORRY.

Peace and good will, can have a powerful effect on the outcome of the Synod.

We could all FAST from negativity. Now is the time to stand back to back, shoulder to shoulder with Holy Father and all present at the Synod in a Spiritual Communion for honour and glory of God.

    Or so me thinks. :)
