I just learned from the Google doodle today that the Winter Solstice, the First Day of Winter, is tomorrow at 4:44AM Central (US) time. We ALL need to bake something sweet or savory in order to encourage the sun to start coming back again. Otherwise, it might continue on its path and before you know it, it will be stuck in its cave in the underworld, sulking. So QUICK! START BAKING! Make cookies, or kringla, or rommegrot, or Chex mix, or raisin cake, or fudge, or penuche! Make sure to take it outside so the sun can smell the scents of the cooking. While you're outside, make sure you share your stuff with neighbors and the homeless. I mean, after all, you're not going to be able to toss it up to the sun, anyway. The birds will catch all the food, and you know how bad they are at sharing.
