Pope Francis is installing Jesuits in positions of influence throughout the Church and wants their brand of discernment taught in all seminaries. If Jesuit style Catholicism is where we're headed, perhaps we should have a look at what the future holds for Christ's Church. I will start the thread with two videos from the elite Georgetown University. Others are welcome to add to this thread to help us learn more about what today's Jesuits believe and teach. It seems that the late Teilhard de Chardin, SJ is considered a prophet in Georgetown, so let's have a look at his Mass on the World as celebrated in Georgetown.
In commemoration of Teilhard, Georgetown hosted a discussion on his importance in the 21st Century. The discussion concluded in time for the panelists to officiate at Teilhard's "Mass" although they did point out that it isn't "Mass" (not yet, but I wouldn't rule it out for the future). Here's the discussion, and if this isn't pantheism I would like to know what it is and how it is compatible with Catholicism:
Interesting topic. I have not spent much time reading about the Jesuit order but it seems to be really popular with the rest of my family who are not Catholics. I always wondered why.
No mention of Jesus Christ, no crucifix, but of a God devoid the cross,.. nothing supernatural A celebration of man, evolution and the universe In a word "pantheism" Definition of pantheism 1 : a doctrine that equates God with the forces and laws of the universe 2 : the worship of all gods of different creeds, cults, or peoples indifferently; also : toleration of worship of all gods (as at certain periods of the Roman empire)
They have had their ups and downs. They get the credit for leading the counter Reformation following Luther's rebellion. The current lot are piggybacking on the reputation of giants.
Watching that mock Mass gave me the creeps. I get my prophecies mixed up, but isn't there something about the true Mass being banned or unavailable? Well, that Mass on the World would fit the bill as a sacreligious replacement of the true Mass.
Then we have the Superior General of the Jesuits. Fr. Arturo Sosa believes that Satan isn't a real being but an early Christian construct to explain evil. He isn't convinced that the Apostles got the Gospel right because they didn't have tape recorders. Fr. Sosa is a socialist and, it seems, an admirer of Fidel Castro: https://onepeterfive.com/popes-marxist-head-jesuits/
It is actually not a Mass. It is a strange liturgy of sorts -- some kind of strange environmentalism and cosmic mumbo jumbo.
satan is very, very smart he has much influence in the thinking espoused by the people in this discussion But to them he is but a mythical character
It is called a Mass on the World in accord with Teilhard de Chardin Georgetown is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institute of higher learning in the United States. Jesuits have played a significant role in the growth and evolution of Georgetown into a global research university deeply rooted in the Catholic faith.https://www.georgetown.edu/about/jesuit-and-catholic-heritage
I understand what you mean. It might be called a Mass but it was not Mass. A priest did not consecrate the bread and wine etc It was a service/a liturgy based on reflections of these de Chardin fanatics.
It was a mockery of Holy Mass, presided over by an ordained priest and two consecrated religious sisters. It looks to me like they used the basis of the Mass for a pagan ceremony. I know that they didn't invent it but they shouldn't be participating in it.
Anytime I hear the “cosmic christ” the first words that come to mind are Rudolf Steiner and the Anthroposophical Society. Lord, have Mercy.
In Malachi Martin’s book Hostage to the Devil he cites a case of possession called Father Bones and Mr Natch. It delves into the demonic seduction of Teillhard’s effort to force Christ into a Darwinian configuration. It is based on an actual case and as frightening as it is it is very enlightening. Martin saw the Jesuits become enamoured of Teillhard and it wasn’t good. Like me Richard when I hear Cosmic Christ I want to grab the Blessed salt!
I think there are specific demons which mimic true religion. The Demonic counterpart to the Virtue of Charity for instance is Socialism/ Marxism. They can look the the very same on the outside. But once you take a harder look you can see a horror picture. Another false mimic is Fraternal Charity which is mimiced by a False Ecumenism/ One World Religion/ Indifferentianism.. You can see loads of these demonic mimics nowadays. False Mercy is the Prime one. The devil has been busy.
Huge insight here Padraig. Thank you. I am goi g to make this book my Lenten reading. (St Francis deSales)
