    Thanks MMary,

I think she would give me a stern look and tell me not to be so angry and she would tell David to apologize to the lady ;)

Thank you, Praetorian, but you're wasting your time. That David would condemn me isn't really something that keeps me awake at night. This is the same David who was willing to believe that according to the Gospel it's God who needs us - merely because Pope Francis was reported as having said so.
When I asked him to point me to whereabouts in the Gospel, his response was that he isn't a theologian but it must be there because Pope Francis said it. Whether or not Pope Francis was quoted accurately doesn't change the fact that David was willing to believe such an outrageous claim because it came from Pope Francis. That told me all I needed to know about David's understanding of Papal infallibility. He has gone from scoffing at those of us who would entertain the thought that the Holy Father would countenance any suggestion of admitting the divorced and remarried to Holy Communion to being its staunchest defender. Now, anyone who questions it is condemned as a lesser kind of Catholic.

I'm grateful that David won't be the one deciding the destination of my immortal soul on judgement day. I'm reassured that the just judge will be Jesus who told us that any man who even looks with lust at a woman other than his wife has already committed adultery with her in his heart. I sometimes wonder whether Jesus would pass the mercy test in today's Church or would He also be condemned as a rigorist.

No point arguing with David. Time to let go and let God.

Happy Christmas to you, David and all the MoG community.

    You're welcome Dolours,
    I'm sorry I couldn't do more :(

I thought maybe since I have a different relationship with David than many here he might listen to me where he might not to someone else. We jab at each other, but we have also apologized to each other on numerous occasions. In fact he even apologized to me in our conversation. Ha ha :) (So I give you some credit for that David :))

He would not apologize to you though for what ever reason.
I don't know, to me calling a fellow forum member a liar is too much.

Anyway I apologize to anyone who was reading that if it was upsetting. It is my fault. Sometimes I get ramped up and it is difficult to detach myself from a tussle. Not an excuse, just a reason. I apologize to you David if I was a little rough.

Merry Christmas Dolours, David and everyone else here at MOG!
Celebrate the Birth of Our Savior.
It should be an interesting year ahead.

Dear Praetorian Dolours and David just a word if I may. I am a frequent reader of MOG but rarely post for numerous reasons. Mostly I fear I have nothing to add to the current discussion or debates. However on this holy Christmas Eve I find myself compelled to add to your conversation. I believe that David fears offending the Sacred hearts by accepting any possibility of false teaching from the holy Father. You on the other hand fear offending the same Sacred hearts by silently accepting false teaching. A huge divide opens with contrasting and conflicting views. Charity is the greatest virtue but in charity one finds truth! Truth remains the same yesterday as it is tomorrow. Despite our lack of tape recorders in antiquity we have the record of truth stretching from Adam to all people of today.
'Who told you that you are naked?' Sin reveals our desperate weakness and brought God from heaven to the manger. To save us from ourselves. His word alone remains. Not withstanding the desperation many find themselves in through devorce and remarriage we cannot condone nor accept any change in truth. It cannot change. It is the same even to the end of the world. Maybe the holy Father wants to encourage and aid those in need. The interventions of certain cardinals also confuses or rather seeks to confuse this truth. The lack of clarity or any response to the Dubia despite the death of two authors is not a sign of charity.
Faith is in crisis worldwide. Faith is eclipsed as God disappears from the horizon. Confusion reigns almost unchallenged from those who should speak. I am reminded of the warning pope Benedict issued that God may remove the light lamp from us. His call to repent and turn to God and cry save us. Save us from confusion save us from all falsehood. Save us from the darkness threatening your church. Jesus calls to our heart and mind. The natural law written upon our hearts. Moses allowed devorce due to hardness of hearts but from the beginning... you already know the rest. No other response is required. No amount of 2 +2=5 will distort truth. For truth requires no defence. I offer to you a Christmas blessing and a prayer. May this holy season bring peace and an opening to truth. May the song of the holy angels be ours. May we be men/women of goodwill. May our dearest heavenly Mother queen of peace obtain for us a turning of heart and mind to Jesus. May his truth set us free.

Ignacio, I don't know why you feel you may have nothing to add, that was an excellent post!
Thank you so much for your input. I have no doubt the Holy Father thinks he is doing good. I think David thinks he is doing good as well. And both of them do good. Unfortunately there is a lot of error mixing in with the pure Church doctrine today. 2+2 will never equal 5.

It is funny that Fr. Spadaro chose to say that 2+2=5 since it is one of the famous ideas that came out of the book 1984 by Orwell as an example of a blatantly false dogma.

Perhaps that was just a little Signal Grace to us.

Anyway thanks for posting. Come around again more often. :) Sometimes it is not that we are adding something new to the conversation, but that we are saying the same thing in a different way.

    Merry Christmas!

Ignacio, Thank you for the great post.

There is still one interpretation of the Argentine Bishops' interpretation of Amoris Laeititia which I believe would be acceptable. The difficulty as you have stated is the lack of clarity and the lack of charity.

Your post reminded me of the following from an article about Our Lady of Revelation and the alleged messages which Bruno Cornacchiola received. The following one in particular,

One of the most touching visions is that of 28 April 1986. Cornacchiola found himself in St. Peter's Square and Our Lady says to him:

"Although the one who gives an order seems in error, you are bound to obey, unless that order touches faith, morality and charity. Then no! "(Op. Cit., P. 174).
Cardinal Burke has remained very charitable but as difficult as it is to say the following, I don't believe the Pope has.

As you have stated, may His truth set us free.

    Carol, thanks for posting this
We do not have to obey an order that touches
    Faith, morality and charity
    Good to know
That is great clarification from Our Lady herself
