Insofar as you think of him as the Father, you cannot think of him as genderless. He cannot be Father and genderless at the same time. Jesus taught us to call God our Father, that's good enough for me.
You know, if I were an adherent to a faith in which gender neutrality pronouns for God the Father were being voted on by anyone the Catholic church would sure start looking good. In fact, I think the more we see of this the better. Bring them ALL home Lord! Raise up the Church Militant!
I think it's Father in the sense of begetter...this implies gender as male in the flesh, but outside of the flesh it has nothing to do with the maleness that we encounter. We're fallen and our perception is very limited.
Maybe because a words meaning actually matters a lot. If we decide to remove certain words in describing God where exactly do we end up? With a new and improved description?
