Asteroid to shave past Earth inside Moon orbit: ESA

Paris (AFP) - An asteroid the size of a house will shave past Earth at a distance of some 44,000 kilometres (27,300 miles) in October, inside the Moon's orbit, astronomers said Thursday.

The space rock will zoom by at an eighth of the distance from the Earth to the Moon -- far enough to just miss our geostationary satellites orbiting at about 36,000 kilometres, according to the European Space Agency (ESA).

"It will not hit the Earth," said Detlef Koschny of ESA's "Near Earth Objects" research team. "That's the most important thing to say."

The asteroid, dubbed TC4, first flitted past our planet in October 2012 -- then at about double the distance before disappearing. It is about 15-30 metres (49-98 feet) long.

Scientists expected the asteroid to return for a near-Earth rendezvous this year, but did not know how far.

Now, the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope in Chile has managed to track down the rock and determine its distance.

"It's damn close," said Rolf Densing, who heads the European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany.

I have read that it will be October 13th when it comes by. Coincidence? I think not! We will see.

 

I actually looked closely at the yahoo news article to see if it was expected to happen on October 13th, but didn't find any mention of a specific date.

Is there any prophecy that told us that we will be aware of an asteroid approaching the earth before the Warning ? I do not remember it anymore.

 

I do remember reading something about everyone being aware of some kind of cosmic body coming closer for several days before the Warning, causing some type of expectation of great concern. I don't now remember where this came from. Perhaps this could enable people to repent before the actual Warning thus lessening its effect upon them. God is merciful.

I have thought for years what better way for the CIA and other intelligence agencies to keep tabs on people and trends around the globe than Facepage. It irks me that what they call AI is simply algorithms, there is no intelligence there whatsoever because to have that one must have the spark of life created only by God.

I spent several years as a database admin/developer/architect so I know and have worked with some highly intelligent minds and not one of them could create life with a line of code.
