this message board. I did not click on any links during that brief visit. I did not open up any other web sites during. Maybe a fluke? Don't know how I'd receive a virus warning on that prior visit for no discernible reason. Is it possible for viruses to be attached to a particular thread, post, or the board itself? Thought I should return and mention it, despite possibly facing another risk.
Viruses can only come from external links i.e if a link is posted on a thread from a bad site, which unfortunately we have no control over but hopefully every user has anti virus software which will alert them
Viruses will often give false warnings which will prompt for an action that will then give an opening to install malware etc as Quis said. This can come from outside sources without having visited a site per say but is likely to be because someone has used the computer and exposed it to it at some point by visiting an infected site. Some of them are written so well that this can be a completely innocent thing such as simply clicking a link inadvertently during a search or something that actually contains code that is suspect. I have not received any notifications for MOG but not all virus software is always up to date with current viruses. If you are concerned you can always download a free version of something such as malware bites or similar and run a free scan to rule it out. Whatever you do don't click any link or dialogue box that is presented to you unwarranted.
