I'm afraid PF and his Vatican Handlers are using an old trick that I learned as a AF Staff Weenie. That is .... when ya don't have good answers or a good plan Ya just "Baffle Them With BS". Popes don't get hard grilling from the Press or anyone else. So .... folks leave meetings with the Pope or reading reports are usually saying to themselves: What the hell did he say/mean?? I'm still in wonder how PF gets away with NOT answering questions posed to him by Cardinals requesting reasonable explanations to matters of some import! I'll say again!! What goes on in Rome will have little or nothing to do with your/yours personal safety/welfare in time to come. Jesus said to TRUST IN HIM! ..... Did He not!!?? All here have that Seed of Faith which is all that's necessary to Carry-On. What's going on in Rome or any capitol city you can name is nothing but distraction or worse!!

Amen Padraig. Pope Francis is incredibly political and these days people worship the politician as a prophet just as the book speaks to in fact. It opened my eyes to my own misplaced faith in politicians when I read and deeply considered it.

Ah, Children. Anyone who does not love children is highly suspect in my judgment. They are such a blessing.

Thank you Padraig. God bless your mother for hearing what you told her. The pain is so annihilating that it really is a precious gift of grace to know that God has intervened to save them. It truly is the Holy Spirit.

    It is a puzzlement .

The first few chapters are explaining what has gone on in the intervening years in the Church and the world. Pure invention. Msgr. Benson is imagining a history. And it is very British. ThTs what is confusing. TheFr Francis in the opening chapters turns out to be the AC's prophet. Really chilling. Percy becomes the AC's arch enemy as the last Pope. It is worth struggling through because there is a lot of insight into the sterile materialist world view that is upon us now. But why PF liked it--that I cannot answer.

Pope Francis is unambiguous in his opposition to euthanasia. It's probably the only Church teaching he doesn't water down but there's no guarantee he won't find a new revelation next time he reads the Gospel and euthanasia could become merciful. Anyway, he opposes euthanasia and, if memory serves me, euthanasia was a preferred option in the book for people who were tired of life.

I was very surprised when we were told Pope Francis advised us to read that book. Especially since I remembered Holy Grandfather Benedict had said we should read the same book when he was Pope. Now that got my attention. But I still could not see the point of it. I got the impression we were being warned to avoid one great union of nations in the EU. And when you think of it. The EU feels like a monster, full of hate an spite for it's own indigenous people, full of help and freebies for aliens. Sorry. That is how it comes across to me.

As for the book. Why would two Popes ask us to read it.

It would almost seem that Pope Francis himself doesn't quite understand himself....probably why he sought out a Jewish psychiatrist for a better understanding, on a psychological level rather than for spiritual direction. I've known others who succumbed to Liberation Theology after living in third world countries where they felt pressured to rely more on material solutions rather than be laughed at by some who convinced them that the supernatural/spiritual kind of announcing of the Good News was no longer applicable. IOW, nothing changed! They had to confront the "powers" that be and thus they trusted more in organizing workers into stronger units like trade unions and such things after they pretty much lost their faith in emphasizing the sacraments, prayers, charity for all, etc. And they developed a kind of us/them way of thinking about what came out of the Vatican or even from their own Bishops, those who were not activist types. Who are the cowards then and who are the real leaders/heroes....seems like too much emphasis on being either "liked" by the flock, showing world kind of "accomplishments" or appearing "macho"!

One thing is for certain. If the recent demonstration of the females in Argentina against the Church and anyone who stands in their way for every indecent modern demand for promoting the death culture is the result of Liberation Theology. Any Cardinal, Bishop, Priest or religious who does not see the demonic possession of a large number of people must have buried their holy heads in the sand, and stuffed their ears with a thick sticky substance.

Because having read about it a day ago, I still get nausea when I think about what those females did, and can't repeat it. It is to sickening.

Truly demonic. God help and enlighten the minds of girls and women before they damn their souls for all eternity if they have anything to do with the latest female rights nonsense.

It is time men stood up to the plate and take the lead in refusing to entertain extra marital sex. The women seem to have lost the plot in some places. Totally sick and disgusting murderous animals, in Argentina. Not all certainly. But God help them if Liberation Theology has produced such wanton evil.

I suppose it does not really matter at the end of the day why a particular person like the Holy Father does what he does. It is enough for us to understand that he does it, that some of the things he does and is doing are wrong and to take it from there.

When I was younger I used to love analysing the whys and wherefore of why people act and say as they do. But really I am not sure if it ever gets us very much further forward. It is enough to know that wrong is wrong and right is right and to take it from there.

It always puzzled me why the demons wanted blood, other than killing God's creation. It had to give them some sort of power.
It also puzzled me why Israel kept sacrificing to these things in the "high places" in the old testament.
The Aztec's sacrificed roughly 20,000 per year and when they dedicated a temple it was documented that 80,400 were sacrificed.
In the old Testament God always said the blood was the life.

I don't know when blood sacrifice started. But in the old Testament they used to sacrifice animals to atone for sin.

The only time human sacrifice ever Nearly happened was when God tested Abraham asking him to sacrifice Isaac. At the last minute God sent a ram, so Isaac was spared. And I wonder if that was the precursor to God intending to send Jesus to be the only sacrifice acceptable to God.
In the Holy Mass, the sacrifice on Calvary is renewed in an unbloody manner; but none the less it is the sacrifice of Jesus Blood renewed each time in Gods mysterious way. This to atone for the sins of the whole human race from Adam to the last man, women and children included.

I think the devil likes to copy God; but devil wants to outdo God, so many bloody sacrifices, thousands or millions of deaths especially of humans still don't satisfy the devil.

I often think that because of the slaughter of the innocence when Herod tried to kill the newborn Jesus, in the hundreds I believe. Nowadays the slaughter of the innocence by abortion in the many millions must be one of the signs of the coming of an antichrist. Because devil will want to outdo the slaughter of innocence for his arrival in perfect possession of some poor soul, over the number slaughtered on account of the arrival of the Christ Child. Just a thought.

I certainly believe God thought of it first. When did the devil ever have an original idea. He is just a copy cat.

Thanks for dragging padraig's post up. It brought to mind the books I remember as a child some in my family had around. They described some of these creatures as being quite wicked yet not all of them. I was terrified of some of them.

The modern worlds infatuation with faeries and whimsical creatures of yore is a bit disturbing in my view. Yet more evidence that mankind is going backwards in the name pf progress.

An interesting thing I heard today listening to the conference on population control was that all the people who have died in all the wars in this century would amount to less than one years worth of abortions around the world. :(

Blood sacrifice stopped with the Death of the Lamb of God on the Cross and so we are set free. It was no accident that at His Death the Veil of the Temple was split and not so long after the Temple itself was destroyed. We are washed in the Blood of the Lamb. We attend the Sacrifice at the mass. We eat His Body and drink his Blood.

In theology they talk of , 'Types'. In God there is no future or past, only the Eternal now. The blood sacrifice is a type of the Eternal Sacrifice of Christ o n the Cross, it is if you like a prefiguring of Christ's death on the Cross, an entering into. But these blood sacrifices do not take away sin whereas the death of the Lamb is the perfect sacrifice which opens the gates of heaven to our Redemption.

I think one way of looking at these types (Scripture is full of them is the call of Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.
Just as Abraham was called to sacrifice his only begotten Son, so Jesus the Son of God died for our Salvation on Calvary. Thus you have the perfect type.

A mystical reality, the Heartbeat of God.

It is so interesting that in Satanic/ Black Magic ritual they still use sacrifice, '' To draw down power'. Sometimes in some rituals they use animals and in others even human sacrifice, the more innocent the better , even using babies. This is all a perversion of the type of the mass. Everything Satanists (I mean what I would call real Satanists) do is a perversion , the opposite of what we do. I think very often Satanists have a better understanding of what they are doing than we modern Catholics often do. Satanists understand what they are doing as being all about magic, the supernatural . we modern Catholics have torn out the very heart of our Faith which is a living mystical heart and replaced it with human rational (or irrational ) thinking .

This is why our Faith is dying. Here is a good article concerning this here:

Who is Satan’s Elite Fighting Force? You May Be Surprised

This is the story of four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. Consequently, it wound up that Nobody told Anybody, so Everybody blamed Somebody.

In Sunday’s Gospel (HERE), Jesus shocks everyone with a parable, meant to draw a comparison to the Kingdom of God, that has the king annihilating those who rebuff an invitation to a wedding feast, even though they had noble reasons for declining the invitation. Then he kicks a guy out for simply not having the appropriate attire.

Flannery O’Connor once said, “In a land of the deaf, you have to shout.” Meaning, in a very secularized society, people have lost a sense of God. You have to shake them into awareness with a shocking story.

But, as shocking as this parable may be, there are spiritual truths present. And, the question is raised, “Why this level of rage for these particular offenses?”

    The Book of Revelations reads,

“I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.” (Revelations 3:15,16)

Notice the level of offense and rage, again, in the words, “I will *vomit* you out of mouth.” Obviously, those on fire for the Lord (HOT), and go above and beyond in their loving service to the Lord, are not anything with which God would have a problem. Even those who stand opposed to God (COLD) are not the greater threat against God’s kingdom. Why? Because we see them as great sinners and, for most of us, we know not to follow their ways. In other words, they are not very effective in winning more souls for Satan.

Satan’s most powerful force; his “Elite Fighting Force” are the indifferent, the dispassionate, the halfhearted … it is the lukewarm. These are Satan’s “Special Forces” because they are the most effective in winning over a multitude of souls for the devil. Why? Because many are easily swayed by their “version of lukewarm religion.” One that sets every other thing, noble or not, ahead of participating in building the kingdom of God. And, lukewarm church-goers are the elite among the elite in Satan’s fighting force, because they “set a powerful trend” of this empty religiosity, with no urgency to go much beyond church attendance. This is VERY contagious!!

Pope St. Pius X wrote, “All the strength of Satan’s reign is due to the easygoing weakness of Catholics.”

Pope St. Pius V put it in even stronger terms, “All the evils of the world are due to lukewarm Catholics.”

What?!?!? Not rapists or murderers or terrorists, but “lukewarm Catholics”? Why? Because “THE” army God wants to use becomes immobilized and ineffective in impacting other souls to join the ranks of God’s army. Besides going to church, they look no different from the rest of the world. And many – MANY – find it very attractive to count themselves as team members with “no effort required.”

In his letter to Timothy, St. Paul warns of these times:

But understand this: there will be terrifying times in the last days. People will be self-centered and lovers of money, proud, haughty, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreligious, callous, implacable, slanderous, licentious, brutal, hating what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, as they make a pretense of religion but deny its power. Reject them” (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

We have just passed through October 13, the 100th Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun in Fatima, Portugal. Some speculated that God may choose this anniversary to bring some kind of chastisement to “shake us up.” The speculation of this date comes from Pope Leo XIII’s October 13, 1884 (exactly 33 years, to the day prior to October 13, 1917) vision in which Satan asked for 75-100 years and a “greater power,” and that the ticking clock began with the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917.

Yet, all over the world, on October 13, 2017, millions came together to pray the rosary and call upon the mercy of God, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. While Satan is the prosecuting attorney, Mary is our advocate before God.

But, I believe even more was at work here. Let me explain …

In the vision of Pope Leo XIII, Satan requested a greater power. Like most people, I always assumed that meant Satan increased in strength. But, it dawned on me that it could very well mean that Satan did not grow in power, but we decreased or lost our power … the only power to defeat Satan … God’s supernatural grace.

Yes, millions prayed the rosary this past October 13, but any priest around my age can attest that, when we were in seminary, if we were seen with the rosary, we would need extra spiritual direction or psychological counseling or were just simply asked to leave seminary, because we were seen as “too fanatical.” That’s right … it was that bad. Of course the rosary was only symbolic of a deeper concern … we “actually” believed in the supernatural power of God. This was seen as antiquated and odd. I believe this was a kind of rock-bottom our Church had hit, after years of being exposed to the “errors of Russia” … an atheistic denial of God and His Power.

A year ago, I posed the question, “Are we heading for a chastisement?” (Read HERE). In that article, I presented Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s prophesy that a “False Church” would rise, “emptied of Divine content.” Also, I presented Fr. Dwight Longenecker’s amazing insights into “Why the Nones are Leaving.”

People are leaving religion in droves because it’s not religion anymore.

It’s become a charity with meetings on Sundays, and the problem is modernism. Modernism is the idea that the supernatural is out of date and unbelievable. The “de-mythologizers” tried to weed out all the miracles and supernatural elements from the gospels. For the last hundred years their influence has gained in seminaries and pulpits across the world.

Tales of the supernatural had to be removed. They didn’t fit with the modern world. Doctrines about devils and angels, heaven and hell had to be quietly excised from the faith because they were primitive and medieval and incredible to modern folk. Transubstantiation? A pious medieval philosophical explanation of what we all know is really symbolic. Supernatural revelation? No. Religion is all man made. Miracles? We know they don’t really happen. (You can read the rest HERE)

Fr. Longenecker hit the nail on the head. And, for 100 years, we removed our spiritual armor and dropped our spiritual weapons and we left ourselves exposed; naked on the battlefield. For 100 years, Satan had a greater power as we relied on the power of man instead of the power of God.

    In Conclusion

I would like to posit a possible theory as to why God may have relented in bringing a chastisement on October 13. Could it be that, after our Jonah – The Blessed Mother – had spent the last 150 years warning us, we may have shown many great signs of humble submission to the power of God? More priests and bishops are promoting the Rosary and many other devotions, while many priests and bishops are advocating more reverent and sacred liturgies, as many more Traditional Latin Masses are springing up. And, everyone knows that our seminarians and young priests are wonderfully devout.

On October 13, in my parish, we had a record crowd for diocesan TLMs as we celebrated a Pontifical Mass at the Throne with our Bishop Robert Morlino. WOW!! And to think I couldn’t be seen with a rosary, when I was a seminarian.

[IMG]Things are improving. Could it be that the scales are now tipping in favor Christ as Lord and Savior, rather than man as his own lord and savior?

I think we have a long way to go, but maybe … just maybe … God likes the direction it is heading.

Like the Prodigal Son, we make a move toward God and He runs to us and receives us, and we are powerful in Him again!

Maybe God’s Elite Fighting Force has just now, as of October 13, reclaimed the surrender ground of the supernatural and rose to a “greater power” than Satan’s “lukewarm army.”

I want this passage from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesian’s on my funeral Mass card …

“Draw your strength from the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. Our battle is not against human forces but against the principalities and powers, the rulers of this world of darkness, the evil spirits in regions above. You must put on the armor of God if you are to resist on the evil day; do all that your duty requires, and hold your ground” (Eph 6:10-12)

Go to Confession frequently. Adore often. Rosary daily. Serve extravagantly. And you will have a “greater power” than Satan.
