St. Therese actually sang this song 'Ma joie' which means in English: My Joy.

    In her own words:

"It's a free day today, and so I sang 'Ma joie' while I was getting dressed"

Something strange is happening - there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and he has raised up all who have slept ever since the world began. God has died in the flesh and hell trembles with fear.

He has gone to search for our first parent, as for a lost sheep. Greatly desiring to visit those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, he has gone to free from sorrow the captives Adam and Eve, he who is both God and the son of Eve. The Lord approached them bearing the cross, the weapon that had won him the victory. At the sight of him Adam, the first man he had created, struck his breast in terror and cried out to everyone: “My Lord be with you all”. Christ answered him: “And with your spirit”. He took him by the hand and raised him up, saying: “Awake, O sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light”.

I am your God, who for your sake have become your son. Out of love for you and for your descendants I now by my own authority command all who are held in bondage to come forth, all who are in darkness to be enlightened, all who are sleeping to arise. I order you, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be held a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead. Rise up, work of my hands, you who were created in my image. Rise, let us leave this place, for you are in me and I am in you; together we form only one person and we cannot be separated. For your sake I, your God, became your son; I, the Lord, took the form of a slave; I, whose home is above the heavens, descended to the earth and beneath the earth. For your sake, for the sake of man, I became like a man without help, free among the dead. For the sake of you, who left a garden, I was betrayed to the Jews in a garden, and I was crucified in a garden.

See on my face the spittle I received in order to restore to you the life I once breathed into you. See there the marks of the blows I received in order to refashion your warped nature in my image. On my back see the marks of the scourging I endured to remove the burden of sin that weighs upon your back. See my hands, nailed firmly to a tree, for you who once wickedly stretched out your hand to a tree.

I slept on the cross and a sword pierced my side for you who slept in paradise and brought forth Eve from your side. My side has healed the pain in yours. My sleep will rouse you from your sleep in hell. The sword that pierced me has sheathed the sword that was turned against you.

Rise, let us leave this place. The enemy led you out of the earthly paradise. I will not restore you to that paradise, but I will enthrone you in heaven. I forbade you the tree that was only a symbol of life, but see, I who am life itself am now one with you. I appointed cherubim to guard you as slaves are guarded, but now I make them worship you as God. The throne formed by cherubim awaits you, its bearers swift and eager. The bridal chamber is adorned, the banquet is ready, the eternal dwelling places are prepared, the treasure houses of all good things lie open. The kingdom of heaven has been prepared for you from all eternity.

I thought this was fitting to go along with in words.

    Very powerful. Thank you, Mac.

    God Bless!

THAT day of wrath, that dreadful day,
shall heaven and earth in ashes lay,
as David and the Sybil say.

What horror must invade the mind
when the approaching Judge shall find
and sift the deeds of all mankind!

    The mighty trumpet's wondrous tone
shall rend each tomb's sepulchral stone
and summon all before the Throne.

Now death and nature with surprise
    behold the trembling sinners rise
to meet the Judge's searching eyes.

    Then shall with universal dread
the Book of Consciences be read
to judge the lives of all the dead.

For now before the Judge severe
    all hidden things must plain appear;
no crime can pass unpunished here.

O what shall I, so guilty plead?
and who for me will intercede?
when even Saints shall comfort need?

    O King of dreadful majesty!
    grace and mercy You grant free;
as Fount of Kindness, save me!

Recall, dear Jesus, for my sake
you did our suffering nature take
then do not now my soul forsake!

In weariness You sought for me,
    and suffering upon the tree!
let not in vain such labor be.

O Judge of justice, hear, I pray,
for pity take my sins away
    before the dreadful reckoning day.

    You gracious face, O Lord, I seek;
    deep shame and grief are on my cheek;
in sighs and tears my sorrows speak.

You Who did Mary's guilt unbind,
and mercy for the robber find,
have filled with hope my anxious mind.

How worthless are my prayers I know,
yet, Lord forbid that I should go
into the fires of endless woe.

    Divorced from the accursed band,
o make me with Your sheep to stand,
as child of grace, at Your right Hand.

When the doomed can no more flee
    from the fires of misery
    with the chosen call me.

Before You, humbled, Lord, I lie,
my heart like ashes, crushed and dry,
    assist me when I die.

Full of tears and full of dread
is that day that wakes the dead,
    calling all, with solemn blast
to be judged for all their past.

    Lord, have mercy, Jesus blest,
grant them all Your Light and Rest. Amen

It is really beautiful. I have sung it many times attending Requiems. Before marriage I sung in a schola.

I don't think this an old hymn, I keep playing it over and over. Do you all too do the same when you find a beautiful hymn, sacred music?

The lyrics strike you, they are Our Lord's words (J0hn 12:24) and more of His words, you love the verse about His "peace" (John 14:27). Okay, all of them , another, the Father and Jesus' desire to dwell in us.

Yes, its quite an astonishing piece. Its crafted in the form of a magnificent poem - its pleasure to read.

Forgive me, I don't wish to seem rude, but what is "schola" School.. perhaps?

You must have a wonderful voice to sing this to an audience, and in keeping ones composer calmness while you are in the spotlight. Kudos!

    God Bless!

Unless a grain of wheat shall fall upon the ground and die,
It remains but a single grain with no life.

If we have died with Him,
Then we shall live with Him.
    If we hold firm,
    We shall reign with Him.

    If any one serves me,
    Then they must follow me.
    Wherever I am,
    My servants will be.

    Those who love me
    Are loved by my Father.
    We shall be with them,
    And dwell in them.

    Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you,
    Peace which the world
    Cannot give is my gift.

    Hi, Jackie.

When I hear a piece of beautiful music it can play over and over; my heart gets stunk in rhythm my soul dances. I believe good music is good for the soul, Jackie.

I love your song. God Bless!

Our schola ,was just a small group of men who would try to chant Gregorian. Lol I think half of us were tone deaf. And thankfully hidden away up in the choir loft. There is no way I could sing out in front of people.Still ,if we let the good singers sing up,and us bad ones kinda mumble ,it didnt sound half bad.:)

I've traveled far, the land and the sea
Beautiful places I happened to be
One little town I'll never forget
Is Lourdes, the village of St. Bernadette

    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-a
    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-i-ia

There, like a dream, this wonderful night
I gazed at the grotto aglow in the light
A feeling divine swept over me there
I fell to my knees as I whispered the prayer

    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-a
    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-i-ia

Now I am home, I'm happy to be
Telling of places I've traveled to see
One little town I'll never forget
Is Lourdes, the village of St. Bernadette

    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-a
    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-i-ia

    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-a
    Ave, ave, ave Ma-ri-a

Bless the Lord oh my soul
    Oh my soul
    Worship His Holy name
    Sing like never before
    Oh my soul
    I'll worship Your Holy name

    The sun comes up
    It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
    Whatever may pass
    And whatever lies before me
    Let me be singing
    When the evening comes

Bless the Lord oh my soul
    Oh my soul
    Worship His Holy name
    Sing like never before
    Oh my soul
    I'll worship Your Holy name

    You're rich in love
    And You're slow to anger
    Your name is great
    And Your heart is kind
    For all Your goodness
    I will keep on singing
    Ten thousand reasons
    For my heart to find

Bless the Lord oh my soul
    Oh my soul
    Worship His Holy name
    Sing like never before
    Oh my soul
    I'll worship Your Holy name
    Bless You Lord

    And on that day
    When my strength is failing
    The end draws near
    And my time has come
    Still my soul will
    Sing Your praise unending
    Ten thousand years
    And then forevermore
    Forevermore

Bless the Lord oh my soul
    Oh my soul
    Worship His Holy name
    Sing like never before
    Oh my soul
    I'll worship Your Holy name

Bless the Lord oh my soul
    Oh my soul
    Worship His Holy name
    Sing like never before
    Oh my soul
    I'll worship Your Holy name

    I'll worship Your Holy name
Jesus I will worship Your Holy name

    Sing like never before
    Oh my soul
    I'll worship your holy name

Music is much like poetry in the sense that it is rather subject to the listener. What you our I find mediocre in melody, others may think it is the best thing since sliced bread.. as the saying goes. Some people can find beauty everywhere in the singing of a bird; in peace and tranquillity of streaming river - to the sounds of the wind blowing through a meadow - to the sound of a beating heart etc..

It is the merit in the good will of the poster - in this case, that gets my thumbs up. Some soul might find something inspirational..perhaps they are quite depressed and a song or message that you posted hit a cord in their heart. At first a little ripple then a wave.

    God bless, Mac.

    Psalm 150

    1 Alleluia.

Praise ye the Lord in his holy places: praise ye him in the firmament of his power.

2 Praise ye him for his mighty acts: praise ye him according to the multitude of his greatness.

3 Praise him with sound of trumpet: praise him with psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with timbrel and choir: praise him with strings and organs.

5 Praise him on high sounding cymbals: praise him on cymbals of joy: let every spirit praise the Lord. Alleluia.
