I remember posting here a while back, about a Friend of Medjugorje.
I was 'on the fence' with him and didn't know what to make of him.
I 'tentatively' listed to his shows.

Well, over the last month, I must have listened to every available podcast I could download on my phone and listened to them in work.
I have to say, I like the man.
I think he's bang on in a lot of what he talks about.

The most recent podcast was especially interesting.
    Available here:
    http://www.medjugorje.com/radio-wave/past-shows/685-Our-“May-Queen”.html
Its titled 'Our "May Queen" ' and really had my interest.
Any body else listen to Radio Wave?
Any body hear this latest show in particular? If so, what did you make of his interpretation of the song?
    Any thoughts?

I listen to him and find his take on things interesting but like all things we need to discern and filter the good for ourselves. Not everything he says should be taken as gospel.

I will listen to the latest podcast when I get home from holiday.

The Women of Grace blog had this to say about Caritas and the Friend of Medjugorje. This is at the website of Johnnette Benkovic. I do not know what the current status of things is; but I would exercise caution regarding the Radio Wave show:

The Troubling History of Caritas of Birmingham
Posted on December 17, 2012 by SBrinkmann

KH asks: “I have a question about Terry Colafrancesco from Caritas of Birmingham, Alabama. They go under the name of ‘The Friends of Medjugorie.’ I heard bad things about them, occult like. His name is connected to Wayne Weible, the orginial author of the Book, Medjugorie. Do you have information about Terry and Caritas?”

Yes. I found quite a bit of information about Colafrancesco and Caritas and most of it is very disturbing.

For starters, you might want to review the history presented in this series of articles contained in the library of cult investigator, Rick Ross.

From what I have read, the founder of Caritas, Terry Colafrancesco, became associated with Medjuorgje during a visit to the Bosnian village where Mary is alleged to be appearing since 1981. It was during this visit that he met one of the visionaries, Marija Pavlovic Lunetti.

Colafrancesco, a former landscape excavator, eventually quit that work and set up a non-profit called Caritas of Birmingham which is dedicated to spreading the news about the visions of Our Lady at Medjugorje. In 1988, he in invited Lunetti to stay on his family farm. She has visited the farm 11 times since then, with the last visit occurring in July, 2012.

Needless to say, the visit of one of the six Medjugorje visionaries is more than enough to make Caritas a favorite pilgrimage site for thousands of Catholics whenever she’s in town, even though Colafrancesco’s outfit is not connected to the Church in any way and the local bishop has forbidden priests to celebrate Mass there.

To date, more than 60 people volunteer at the 130-acre site in Shelby County, Alabama and work year-round promoting trips to Medjugorje. The property houses a new $8 million printing press, office buildings, chapel, gift shop, and mobile homes to house the community members. Many of these members gave up all of their worldly possessions to move to Caritas and support the ministry. They operate a school, a sawmill, a gift shop and a farm in connection with the Tabernacle of Our Lady’s Messages, a shrine Colafrancesco’s followers built on the site.

Neither the visions nor the tabernacle are recognized by the Birmingham Diocese.

Colafrancesco’s troubles began when former followers began to sue him, charging him with everything from brainwashing to engaging in fraud, misrepresentation, undue influence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. One of these suits was settled out of courts and others were dismissed. Caritas won $2 million in a case against a California cult-hunter named Philip Kronzer; however this was not a judgment based on the merits of the case but because Kronzer violated the confidential seal of a 2005 lawsuit.

For an example of a typical complaint by a former member, click here. http://www.rickross.com/reference/caritas/caritas7.html

That at least some of these allegations might be true is attested to the fact that Mother Angelica, founder of the Eternal Word Television Network, which is located nearby, has always discouraged people from going there.

Aside from the fact that the Church has not approved the apparitions at Medjugorje, and that Catholics are under no obligation to believe personal revelation of any kind, I see no reason why someone would seek out an organization with such a long and troubling history in order to be encouraged in the faith. Why risk it?

I listened to it and really enjoyed it also. I have never thought that "Stairway to Heaven" was a satanic song. He mentioned that some have said if you listen to it backwards it is satanic, I think that is ludicrous. God spelled backwards is dog, does any of that make sense? Not to me it doesn't. I have always thought the song was beautiful and speaking about Heaven!!

I remember hearing as a kid that stairway to heaven played backwards was satanic. we tried it and could not make anything out when played backwards. We also heard that another one bites the dust by Queen (or it might have been we are the champions, I forget which) played backwards was "I want to smoke marijuana" and that was true. we played it backwards and it was clear as day. so, I believe stairway to heaven could be satanic when played backwards and we just weren't doing it the right speed or we didn't know what to listen for.

I must confess, I have never tried to listen to it backwards, but I have thought for some time now, like the host of RadioWave mentioned, that the song is singing about the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially the part "it's just a spring clean for the May Queen".

I also though it was nonsense, the whole backwards playing stuff, until one day, to my great surprise, Mother Angelica mentioned that certain songs betray their origins when you play them backwards. After that comment from her, I wondered how Id manage to play the song backwards.
Turns out I didn't need to, others have done it for me.
There are lots of videos on YouTube.
Sure, a song played backwards might have the odd word here and there that accidentally make sense, but entire verses?? Verses that are three and four lines long?
    No way. That's beyond coincidence.
Especially when the verse doesnt seem to contain random themes, but one theme speaking about Stan, 666, sadness, etc.
    Creepy, at best creepy.

Regardless about the song (we could debate on the meaning till the sun goes down), I thought it was a great broadcast. I enjoyed every bit of it, learned a lot about what is going on in Mexico, Detroit and about the the man who wrote the "Mary, Did You Know?" song. Who would'a ever guessed he was a BAPTIST?!! The Good Lord surely does work in mysterious ways. I would love to go to Medjugorje. Many people have had spiritual experiences there. I went to the theatre and watched the movie they made about it a couple of years ago, really enjoyed that also.

This is my first post so bear with me. Ten years ago this month Maria was at the Caritas compound for a week and she was receiving her daily apparitions from the Blessed Mother every evening at 6:40. My mom, 2 sisters and I were there so what I am about to say is first hand. How we got there was that my husband had taken one of my children to the Eucharistic Conference in Atlanta that year and returned home with some info about Caritas in Sterling, Alabama stating that Maria would be there having her daily apparitions the first week in August. At the time we figured that if we went it would be the closest we would ever get to Medugorie so we went-- having no idea what to expect. The first evening we showed up about 5:00 and had to park about a half a mile away from the place where the apparitions took place, which was a huge empty field with one lone, HUGE oak tree in the middle of the field. There were about 400 people there and we couldn't get close enough to really see Maria very well as people had marked their spots earlier in the day with blankets and such. (No lawn chairs were allowed-- you either had to stand, kneel, or sit on the ground-- no exceptions!) We began 15 decades of the rosary at 6:00 and at 6:40 the apparition occurred with an interpreter telling us what was being said over a loud speaker. We had no blanket with us so we stood in the hot sun for the first apparition in that huge field with that lone oak tree shading Maria and her interpreter. As we walked back to the car we smelled the scent of roses even though there were none around and to this dayI still don't know if it was the real thing or piped in somehow.
The next day we got there in the morning and staked out our spot as close as we could get to the tree which was about 100 feet away. Since we hadn't brought a blanket we stopped at a TJ Maxx and bought the biggest beach towel I've ever seen to be able to kneel down on in the field to say the rosary. About 5 or 6 priests were hearing confessions out in the field with very long lines. At around 5:30 the clouds began to roll in, so my mother decided to walk back to the car as she could not move as fast as we could to get out of the rain if it started. At 6:00 we started the Rosary as the weather became more and more ominous. By 6:30 there were around 800 people there and as we were praying it began to hail. Within 3 minutes the entire field was a blanket of white (remember it was summer in Alabama!!) My sister looked at me and said "Hail Mary!!" As I saw the lightning in that huge field with that lone tree I felt like a sitting duck. Then came torrential rain and everyone dispersed. The rain had soaked my gigantic towel and it felt like it weighed 50 pounds. (My kids dubbed it the holy towel.) Anyway, I left there feeling as though something special had happened as we prayed the rosary that day. I never really got to see Maria very well that day.
In 2011 my sister and I went to Medugore with Michael Brown of Spirit Daily and had a wonderful experience

I am dating myself, but we played a song backwards by putting the record on the record player, putting the needle on the record and turning it backwards manually with our hand. I read back then that our minds picked up subliminally (I am not sure I spelled that right) whatever was being said backward while we heard the song being played forward. Not sure that is correct, but I remember reading that and that is why we tried records played backwards to see if we could hear anything. the things you do in middle school!!
