I had a curious dream last night ' I am not wuite sure of its meaning , though it taught me a couple of lessons , anyway I will recount it for what its worth.

I dreamt I was in the USA on the outskirts of a city in a prefabricated buliding with several members of the forum from that country, only one of who, Cahrlie Johsnton I recognised. We were watching I think it was a TV set and we knew at once that the lights were about to go out. I was very insistent we should leave the city but I was wating for Charlie to tkae the lead when he dissappeared. I recall leaving the bulding and looking out of the city and lots of vehicles moving along the free way at high speed leaving the city. I felt depressed that they were ahead of us.

I went back in to find stuff to pack. I saw someone eating bread and realisiing it might be the last bread I would get in a while I went to get some, rather than pack. Someone seen me take the bread and looked at me with reproach.

    The meaning of the dream?

Well I must say in the dream I did not feel a sense of prayfulness from myself, but an acute sense of panic and selfishness. It taught me that the main thing is to stay close to God. It taught me to be humble.

I must say my own feeling is that people in or near cities should leave them quickly when it is obvious what is going down is going down.

There is an old Russian saying , 'Pray to God but put on the life jacket'.;)

Maybe eating the bread now because you mightn't get it again for a while could be a reference to the Eucharist? Maybe we live in a time now where we need to get our spiritual house in order, more than anything else, because it mightn't be so easy to avail of sacraments later?

Yep. I pray that all have a plan in place and understand that's what each of us needs to do

  6. I think that is what I am most afraid of, beyond all that might happen, the me I am worried about being: afraid, panicking and concerned only with my own self preservation; rather than the me I hope to be: prayerful, faithful, and trusting in God.

when bread was mentioned my first thought was fasting. But that doesn't make much sense. the Eucharist makes more sense. But it also could have simply meant food, especially if someone looked at you with reproach and then you feel selfish. Having a pre-packed backpack would be helpful along with losing attachments to what we own. Otherwise you will be figuring out what to pack or leave behind when you should be on the road. also have a full tank of gas as often as we can.

It will be difficult to not naturally panic a little and that natural inclincation to hoard a bit of food. It will be very hard. I must pray more.

I often wonder...how far away from a major city is safe enough? I live about 25 miles from a major city on the ocean. Hope that is good enough since I am not going anywhere unless I am told by my angel to go.

  8. Seven years ago I had a daytime vision of clouds swirling in a circle with birds going up (they looked like martins) and a voice saying "it has begun".
I panicked and thought "what can I do?" I ran to the store and bought cans and cans of...green beans.
Needless to say, "it" didn't begin the way I thought it would and eventually I started cooking up the green beans. We ate green beans for a very long time...
Three years ago in a moment of weakness, I did a similar thing with 50 lbs of dried beans--which I haven't used up yet.
I have learned my lesson about "hoarding".
I now keep enough for a couple of weeks worth of food and when that runs out will pray for guidance

I love the idea, which someone mentioned that dried pasta and rice can last pretty much forever. Such a very simple things and just a few packets will last forever and cost next to nothing.

I think what concerns me about cities is this. Everything in our modern world is so interconnected that when one thing goes down everything else goes down like dominoes. Whereas in the country we are more isolated and independent.

I was delighted Charlie Johnston appears to indicate that things like power will only be off a relatively short time. So the stay in thew country is only maybe a couple of weeks.

I must say though from my own prayer and reading what others have written I always have expected things to be much, much worse than that.

However how delighted and relieved I will be if Charlie is right. But on the other hand, the world has gone down such a dark road of terrible, terrible evil I don;t think it will take something light to get people back to prayer.

I think the more unselfish we are the better off we will be.

For instance somone suggested we should pack baby food even if we don't have babes for those who do and need it. This is such a remarkably kind and generous thought; how could God not greatly bless people who do such things?

A lot of things don't cost much, really. A bottle of bleach, for instance costs nothng but can purify lakes of water. A few extra blankets or duvets give loads of heat and so.

I sometimes thing when we look towards the future it cna seem a lot more dauting than maybe it actually is. I think if we have food and the means to stay warm we have a very great deal.

If the Churches stayed open, even one, I would be in heaven, I wouldn't care.:) When we have daily mass, we have everything.

  11. Yes, in the presence of the Eucharist, it seems that all my questions and concerns are nothing and I am content.
It is the only place I am truly content.
    It is like...home.
    Goodnight and God bless Padraig

One thing I thought of recently was that rice and pastas and beans require water. Water will be highly valuable and may be scarce in some places. Without power many water filtering places will not work and water may become highly contaminated. I started thinking of foods that don't require much water at all....and it came to me .......tortillas. Tortillas only really need a few ingredients. Flour, shortening or oil and tiny bit of water.

I had a vivd dream the night before last that I was in the Holy Land ,around about 70AD at the time of the Great Jewish uprising and the Fall of Jeruslaem.

I dreamt I was Jewish gentleman who had been crucified, quite naked on a cross , on hillside facing the Sea of Gallilee by Roman soldiers. As I looked down from the Cross I could see many soldiers with their backs towards me facing towards the lake. One in particular stood out as he was covered in the most beautiful shinning Gold armour and I suppose was the Emperor Vespasian himself. In my dream I was cruciifed in an unusual way , for at the hips the body had been turned sideways so the nails could be driven through the side of the heels.

After a while the soldiers seemed to leave and another Jewish gentleman came along and slit my throat as an act of kindness with a peculiar knife that was vey sharp and reminded me of a machete.

Did I learn anything from this dream? Well I learnt the utter and complete desolation of the Jewish guy in being nailed, naked to a Cross. THis was far worse this humilation than the actual crucifixation itself. TO be nailed to a Cross naked in public was the most horrendous event imaginable. If we were stripped naked in a public place we would think of being embrassed and humiliated but I think for the Jews of that period crucifixation was soemthing else entirely. It is hard to describe the utter deoslation of the poor guy, as if his Spirit itself was crushed and he had indeed been turned into a worm.

    Psalm 22:6

    Why have You Forsaken Me?
5To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed. 6But I am a worm and not a man, A reproach of men and despised by the people. 7All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying,…

In fact for the first few centuries of the Church's history the Cross was not employed as a symbol, other symbols, such as the fich were used. The death on the Corss was considered such an abomination people could not even consider it.

'The experienced and unassuming general Vespasian was given the task of crushing the rebellion in Judaea province. His son Titus was appointed as second-in-command. Given four legions and assisted by forces of King Agrippa II, Vespasian invaded Galilee in 67. Avoiding a direct attack on the reinforced city of Jerusalem, which was defended by the main rebel force, the Romans launched a persistent campaign to eradicate rebel strongholds and punish the population. Within several months Vespasian and Titus took over the major Jewish strongholds of Galilee and finally overran Jodapatha, which was under the command of Yosef ben Matitiyahu, after a 47-day siege. Driven from Galilee, Zealot rebels and thousands of refugees arrived in Judea, creating political turmoil in Jerusalem.'

  15. Padraig, is it your dreams that Mike Brown is referring to in his lead article today? "Two Prophecies"?

God bless us in these times....and help us to adapt to the unexpected and "unusual"!

  16. Um....I meant the lead article on Mike Brown's "Spirit Daily" today.

You are aware Padraig that crucifixion where the nail is driven sideways through the heel, was indeed practised by the Romans? There is evidence of this in the skeleton of a man called Johanan, which can be Googled. Also the Jewish people were far more modest than the Romans so the customary nude crucifixions were truly an affront to their natural dignity. Your dream is chilling.

If we turn to the passage in the Bible where Jesus had just suffered his agony in the garden of gethsemane and the cohort were coming to arrest him and we observe how the disciples reacted, we will get a true sense of how easy it is to let fear blind us and keep us from staying close to Jesus even when it seems like all is falling apart around us. Jesus told Peter, James, and John to pray that they not be put to the test = Jesus gave them the answer = pray pray pray and do not rely on your own strength/ego!

Another passage that I am recently often moved by the Holy Spirit to contemplate is when the disciples were on the boat dealing with a massive storm that was so bad they thought they were dying while Jesus remained asleep on the boat. They were so afraid that they were going to die, that rather than trusting Jesus and continuing to battle the storm they complained and woke up Jesus. Fear paralyzes us. First they stopped doing what was given for them to do and two, they complained rather than trust in Jesus who was with them on the boat and obviously was not going to allow the boat to be capsized. The main point is that if we rely on ourselves (our weak sinful self), we will always let fear control our actions and in turn not see God working through the very things that are taking place around us.

The only answer to this is to pray often and as often as possible, spend much time before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament allowing him to deepen our faith and move us more and more to having our faith rooted on solid ground so that when fearful situations arise, we will be able to handle all that takes place around us knowing that God is with us and that His will is for us to continue dealing with what has been given to us to deal with.

I have experienced over and over again on the micro level situations that I don't want to deal with and I feel like I can't handle anymore and yet I know that God is training me through these situations to be prepared for much more difficult situations that are soon to come upon all of us (kind of like small storms to prepare for the big storm). Let us not forgot the words of psalm 91 verse 7:

"A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you"

If we rely on ourself, we will be paralyzed with fear, but if we are able to trust in Jesus, then there is nothing we can't handle and it is the very act of handling whatever is happening, in faith, even when it seems all is lost, that will strengthen our faith and allow us to be a true witness of God's love to a lost world.

You're the front page on Spirit Daily today Padraig. Your dreams are convincing. It has made me renew my efforts in prayer and to "pray, pray, pray".
