I would very much appreciate if you might take a few moments this weekend to pray for my youngest son who will be confirmed this Saturday. As we all know, in these challenging days, I have so grateful that he will be receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide him and protect him. Your prayers of intercession for him to grow strong in body and spirit will be so appreciated by my wife and I. In particular, we are asking for the intercession of St. Kevin, the saint name he has chosen as it was his grandfathers name and in his research of saints, he said Kevin was a great example and connected him to his a Irish ancestry!

Will Pray for your Son Miker. I have alway liked the sacrament of confirmation.

QuD - St. kevin is not just associated with Glendalough. He is also associated with Tallaght, Co. Dublin. There is a housing estate in Kilnamanagh just outside Tallaght that was built some time back. In the middle of that estate there is St. Kevin's well. The builders would not build on it - they simply put paying stones around it and houses but the well is still there the last I heard. I always liked that they did that.

Thanks everyone for your prayers. I had a wonderful blessing today that I thought I would share with you all. I noticed that my work calendar had no meetings/call/anything today which us really unusual. I thought I could help my wife prepare for the little gathering we are having after the Confirmation tomorrow. But, I had a thought put in my mind to go to Mass and not at my local parish but at the Marian Shrine- Mary, Help of Christians. It's about a 1/2 hour drive from my home. I interiorly heard the best preparation is to pray for your son- that he be "confirmed" in ME and he grow to love me more. So, that's exactly what I did as the noon Mass began. And then the priests homily today was about St Don Bosco building the main Cathedral in the 1860s. When it was done, the workmen came and said it was so tall it needed a lightning rod to protect it from lightning and fire. Don Bosco had a huge statue of metal of Mary, Help of Christians placed on the top of the Church and said Mary would be the lightning rod to protect the church. In his homily today, Father said Mary is our personal Lightning Rod - protecting us from evil. He then said she us especially needed fir our young people today! I couldn't help but think God was answering my prayers for my son! And as if that was not enough, at the end of Mass, father invited us to consecrate ourselves and invoke the intercession of Mary for whatever intention we brought to the Mass today. I buckled and teared up thinking again what a gift I was given to consecrate my son as he us about to be confirmed. How good God has been to me this day!

And btw, I learned that the title, Mary, Help of Christians was bestowed by Pope Pius V to honor Mary for her intercession in helping the Christians defeat the Muslims at The battle of Loretto. Coincidence? I don't think so :).

    Peace.
